QUOTE(Edward B @ 2003-08-20 13:27:17) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Oz is one of the strictest (if not THE strickest) countries to try to obtain a visa. If you still have trouble getting one, you're best bet is for to you ask someone official (eg. professor/doctor/lawyer) or high ranking in community from Aus to write an official letter stating the reason for visit, along with their recommendation/approval. Know anyone?

    :D

Hi Edward B, yes you are on the right track. The best shot is to ask your local politician for a supporting letter, or contact, phone, the Shadow Minister for Immigration and ask for assistance. If your are in Australia at the moment, the opposition Labor Party would have no objections in trying to assist anyone having trouble with the current Federal government. :o

  2. Hi,

The time has come to take the girl to Australia for a visit. I know a lot of people have been down this path many times.

I am wondering if anyone has any up to date knowledge of what is the best way to go about it. Or pitfalls to avoid??

Manfromoz, see my post today, I soke with the Shadow Minister for Immigration office today and was tols that with the present Federal Government in power the likelihood of an application being successful was doubtful. The office said that the directives are coming from Canberra, and that the embassy in Bangkok is just following Canberra directives.

Don't ya hate being ruled over by FAILED solicitors! :o

  3. Good Morning Thailand, :D

This morning I had the opportunity to speak with the office of the Shadow Minister for Immigration ( Federal Labor Party) about constant refusals (application not believed to be genuine) for a short term visa for G/F to Australia.

I was told that the directives and guidelines are being set down by Canberra and are NOT the fault of the embassy in Bangkok. I was told that further applications would prove to be unsuccessful.

MY COMMENTS: The John Howard Liberal government needs to be given a swift kick up the arse at the next Federal election. Their track record in power has now become a criminal farce. Don't ya just hate being ruled over by FAILED solicitors. :o

  4. Just 5 minutes ago, I spoke to a member in Khemerrat(sp) , he was using GPRS , NOKIA 3230.

and it was clearer than a normal call, we were using gmail talk.

Skype would have been slightly better.

Cost was 9600b for the nokia plus 550b for the usb cable, speed was 460 kbps. :D

Hey UDON!, love ya garden shed, how much left on your morgage? QUESTION:- my fiancee lives in UDON THANI, and wants the net put on, is there a decent internet connection in Thailand, or is it all F...ked. :o

  5. I am a US citizen, sent my passport and paperwork for a non-immigrant O visa request for the purpose of retirement to the Thai Embassy in Washington. They, in turn, sent me a medical certificate to filled out by a physician stating I am free of 5 diseases. I went to my HMO, a staff doctor filled it in, sent me the confirmation that I'm free of the diseases, but added a note that I have history of genital herpes, asymptomatic, and a history of cardiac murmur, asymtomatic. Now I don't what to do. Should I return the certificate to the Embassy, with the herpes and murmur noted on the bottom? I'm afraid that would deny me a visa, or worse deny me of ever going back to Thailand. Maybe I should change my visa request to that of a 60 day tourist visa, or even no visa, which I don't need anyway as US citizen for 30 days. Then, in Thailand get a new medical certificate from a doctor there who could fill it out, not adding my medical history. Follow up with a visit to a neighboring country, like Malaysia or Vietnam for the non-immigrant visa. Any advise would be appreciated.

If this helps:- tell the Thai embassy in the USA that the form got washed at the laundromat, and ask for another one. THEN, go to a public medical clinic and get the form filled in there. I the DOC asks you if you have a family doctor who can do it, tell him you have'nt been to a doctor in years, and the last family doctor passed away whenever, whoever, however!!! Then do what Lopburi3 said, if that avenue applies to you. GOOD LUCK! Life is short, ENJOY!!!!! :o

  6. I use siamwebhost.com for hosting.

So far no problem but I ran only a small company, but still worth to contact them.

Thanks visarunner, I mentioned this website to my fiancee, since it was in Thai. It looks OK! but then again I don't read Thai. I hope she has some luck with it as she only wants it for a small Thai business to start with, mainly appealing to Thais. :o

  7. the mechanics were probably working on the machinery on the lift roof.

must have disarmed the brake by mistake.

    what a horrible accident.

Exactly what I think Taxexile, someone released the brakes by mistake. I remember when I was working in L.A. and they were installing high rise Westinghouse elevators in the Wells Fargo Building, I went from the ground floor to the 43rd floor in a flash, and it wasn't stopping. Right at the last moment the emergency brakes came on, all this dust and crap came flying out of the ceiling from the sudden vibration, I managed to grab hold of the hand rail and it stopped about 18inches below the 43rd floor. I got the door open, turned the elevator off, and left it for the mechanics on Monday morning. But I must admit I thought I was dead for sure! :o

  8. Unfortunately I wasn't able to access this web-site from about 21.00 hundred last night until about 24.00 today.....no idea what was goin' on!

In Pattaya 'ride-by' snatchings of jewellery from unsuspecting westerners isn't that uncommon, particularly in those sois linking Pattaya Two road and Beach Road. And I've never, ever heard of more than one motorcycle and two youths involved in any any attempted robbery......but this shooting of Steve Parkinson was completely different.

There were two motor-cycles and four youths involved - who were extremely persistent and determined in their attempt to kill the 'supposed' robbery victim. They even persued him on their motorcycles to ensure the killing. This is not the MO of a normal Pattaya robbery. And the remoteness of the attack suggests they had prior knowledge of Steve Parkinsons movements and were sure of where he would be headed late at night with the assurance their attack would probably be witnessed by no-one.

The robbery took place way out of the normal area of 'operations' where foreigners are most likely to be robbed, and the assailants were extremely persistent in gunning down their victim even when they couldn't have been sure, by any extent, of the amount of money - if any- the victim and his friend might have been carrying with them at that time.

This is almost unheard of in Pattaya.

These guys knew very well who their intended victim was.

I'll bet they had been watching him for days......if not weeks!

Again, may be wrong, but IMHO Steve Parkinson died a HERO.

    R.I.P.

I think your on the right track Bulmercke, .......English guy beats up young Thai over stolen bike, then has another jailed over stolen necklace.....Young poor Thai's want revenge on rich (as they see it) farang. They organise to have him watched, and send four Thai's on motorbikes to make sure the job is done. Shoot for the head, not the body...MURDER! Get what you can off the bastard and get out of there...robbery a BONUS for what they are being paid. Thai girl is not shot or harmed becoz she is THAI, and a WOMAN. Girl most likely threatened and told not to say anything becoz they no her family. DNA testing will solve case. :o

  9. Well what can I say? When in Rome do as the Romans do, follow Roman law and be polite and curtious to all, common sense. Nobody murders for no reason, there always an emotional issue in 98% of all homicides. Maybe the Pommy was a drunk, who knows. Any Westerner who wants to critisise the foreign ways of life in the country of which they have chosen to reside is nothing more than Christian self rightousness. I'm glad Thailand is not trying to be all things to everybody like some Western countries where multiculturalism has gone MAD!

Don't worry, my fiancee is Thai. Her Mother has passed away and, her Father has had a stroke. Maybe her ex-husband police officer will shoot me dead for being a farang. Well that's Thailand and I LOVE IT. :o

If a chat-room imposter can read this, then they belong to an extra-territorial agency called ASIS! :D

The Australian government just spent millions of dollars positioning agents inside TV to gain economic and domestic intelligence on South East Asia. :D So be grateful, :D your tax dollars are at work unearthing the secrets of the TV chat-room. :D

  11. Many times since I've been living here I've been told that rich people are rich because of "good karma." With this type of logic it would mean that a poor person is "bad" because of mistakes in their past lives. Ok.

It seems like this type of attitude is helpful in controlling society by putting people in their place, i.e. the rich person should be respected because he/she's on top, the poor person should be defiled because he's/she's at the bottom. Everyone accepts their fate and never seeks a change. It is a great method of control, but is it true to Buddhist philosophy?

Even though I prefer Buddhism over ther other major middle eastern rooted religions because of it's peaceful nature and acceptance of the inevitable, but I am also a gamling man; and I firmly believe that it's the "choices we make, not the chances we take that determines our "DESTINY". Step outside this planet and have a good look from out there, you really get the feeling that this place is so insignificant in comparison to the whole. No one lives forever, enjoy it while you can, in this artificial environment we have created for ourselves. Human nature never changes, it's perpetual! :o

  12. A doctor, called from Patong Hospital, said that the death was most likely caused by overdosing on the sexual stimulant, leading to heart failure.

Okay so the man suffered heart failure. Don't you think he would of made quite a reasonable amount of noise? But this being a hotel surely somebody would of heard him. But it depends what time of day it would of been. If it was in the daytime the tourists occupating the rooms would likely be sightseeing or something to that effect.

However be it night time some people would more likely be in the hotel sleeping and this noise may of alerted people in nearby rooms.

And lets just assume this man took the viagra for some sexual intercourse with a woman for a moment. The man was 47 years old and I don't want to jump to any assumptions about Thailand but I'd make a pretty good guess he was paying for sex. Now bargirls usually hang out at night time don't they? Pointing toward his death being at night time. Couldn't someone of heard anything?

    Something isn't right here.

his hands still tightly gripping the bedsheets.

If he was gripping bedsheets then he must of been suffering from such a pain that caused him to have a grip. So that may of been followed by some noise. But it may of been a sudden death so no noise may of been heard.

Icemaiden, I think the doctor is going on the evidence the police found, he does'nt really know yet. I would say that the guy had a major stroke from elevated blood pressure; OR his main artery in his heart burst because of a weakened arterial wall, it which case death would be instant--no time to grip sheets. But in the case of a major stroke, he would have first undergone a tremendous headache. It which case he should reached for the wonder drug ASPRIN! :o

  13. Thanks guys.

I know you are right. But I just cant forget her. And if I think of her working in a bar again.... this really makes me feel sorry.

I would at least like to have the chance to get to know her more so that I can decide whether I really like her (for a longer time) or if it was just the "new" feeling.

I mean, even if she did not work in bar for a long time (she did not even know where to send me to. She sent me to the wrong place. Was hard to find for me to see her again) and even if she really fell in love with me: I dont know if she is the right one for me.

But it drives me crazy that I do not have the chance to find out.

If you get to know a girl in your country you can just get to know her, then start a relationship and then decide if you want to have her for a longer time ("to have her" is not to be meant rude and refers to "stay in relationship with her because you have strong feelings". Sorry, but I am not a native speaker).

I'm going to be blunt here.

Get a <deleted> grip! You are cheating in your girlfriend and this new found Thai beauty. You carn't have your cake and eat it, choose one :D

And I thought you'd like to know most BG's are taught to say they haven't worked in the bar a long time and all that love you long time crap.

Actually I told my current girlfriend about it. At least I told her that something was going on. I am not cheating on her. And if (but this is not going to happen I think) I will see the thai lady, I will tell her before that I was not honest. I dont want to cheat on anyone since this is not the base of a relationship for me.

And to the "most BG's are taught to say they haven't worked in the bar a long time". I even read this before I came to LOS.

Yeah life's short, :D if you are so hung-up on this girl, check her out...hire a Thai investigator, :o it will most likely be a cheaper for you in the long term. :D

  14. I seem to recall seeing weed product in coffee shops with "Thai" in the title, but that may have just been for branding effect?

    :D

No, it's mixed with chillies :D

Re a previous posters passionate proposal that alchohol is worse than MJ, AFAIK the problem was that in the '20s in the fair USofA a senator had large (tree) plantations supplying the paper mills, and a cheap process was discovered by someone to turn hemp into paper. This of course led to some urgent 'financed' research to show the damage that MJ does to the brain... The 'message' was established and spread throughout the world, like so many other messages financed by vested interest groups.

And of course, repeat anything enough times, and it becomes 'the truth'

So we can legally go kill some more braincells :o Its controllable and taxable.

I guy I met some time back met Gough Whitlam at a Canberra party back in the early seventies, and Gough apparently said then that he would legalise pot if he could find a way to tax it. HA HA HA! That reminds me, vote for someone with a brain; I hav'nt voted for a long time! :D

  15. Another bunch of dumdwits that think they are smarter than the system. Great stuff, just keep locking them up :D

And throw the key away too.

What exactly in woman trafficking if its what i think it is Is it done consensually

Do these women have a choice If not why is nothing doen to give them a choice

    Education Jobs etc

Read "The Natashas" by Victor Malarek if you really want to know

not so fast - if the thai police locked up every farang who is doing something illegal, there wouldn't be very many farangs left. :o

    hi..

    sorry dont agree,

cant lock them up fast enough for me.... scum!

i dont believe most farangs are criminals...

some yes.... but the majority - no

    amarka :D

who are you guy..mr. Clean or what..there is no-one in this world who is not a criminal..as for what is a crime..that changes with every country you go to..you never had a parking ticket or said something untrue about someone or what..as speaking untruth about somebody IS a crime in USA called "Libel"

if alcohol was made illegal, then 98% of all people in the world would be a criminal...does that make them a bad person? or just a criminal in the eyes of the law..dont be a muppet you puppet.!!!

as for big drug ring..haha i think a kilo of nepalese fetches about 100,000 baht if you sell it in small amounts on the street, but not 500,000 so i reckopn some old geezer in his sixties with a kilo of hash in his bag does not represent a threat to society and is not a big dealer.

The cops look better in the news when they increase the "Street Value" of the confiscated wares. They probably chopped 80% of the block off to sell to their friends later..corrupt as they are. (and i know plenty of them).

I cannot imagine this old guy being a slave trader..although the Arab connections may indicate me to be wrong, as most of the slave traders are Arabs or Russians.

It seems that many people don#t have a clue what goes on under their noses. If you don't know how they keep the girls from running away once in Germany, or wherever, then you need to get out on the street a bit more, and stop drinking exclusivrely with expats and eating beans and marmite from foodland.

get some fried scorpion down ya!

What a big headline about such a little fish.

Hey, right on there spencerdharmagrafix, from what I have read here not too many of these falangs would make good Buddhists. I have met a lot of ozzie gangsters in my lifetime and this old guy with some pot would be classified as a tom thumb, a drop kick, a nobody trying to make a buck so he can stay in Thailand. The world is full of hippocrites, and they point the finger at everybody until it happens to someone close to them. Jesus Christ may have been right when he said " he who has'nt sinned cast the first stone". The only legalised criminals in this world are the politicians. Some people should get a real education "about life". :D:D

  16. one can easily find "free online translation" websites for any languages in the world such as Chinese, Japanese, persian, finnish, swahili and anything.....but I never found such a system offering Thai-english...... anybody knows of one ?

AsiaWolfie, for what it is worth, if you are sending emails. Go to www.thai2me.com, it has a 7 day free trial, after which you can purchase translation keys for you and your partner. You get one for sending in English and one for her to reply in Thai to English. Good luck! :o

  17. post-22439-1128165954_thumb.jpg

Just got the offical Embassy refusal letter faxed to me

    Application date Monday19/9/05

    date of letter Wednesday22/9/05

    notice of pick up Friday26/9/05

    In short under heading

    Reason for Visa refusal

You did not satisfy Subclause 676.221(2) (a) which reads that .

The applicant satifies the Minister that the applicants expressed intention to only visit Australia is genuine .

    ------------------------------

GENUINE?? I didnt see the section for applying for a Toy Visa

My supporting documents weighed 800 grams

She has been twice before and returned twice before the visa expired

What does a guy have to do?

And I call Australian Imigration in Melbourne today and they said you can apply for a tourist visa as many times as you like as long as your previous visits were within the requirements of the visa

Bangkok told her you can only go 2 times AMAZING THAILAND

Wozza I have this posted in another section of this site, but here it is again. This refusal was from back in Febuary. My gf even had a letter from the school she teaches at. As I read these postings I wonder how many are "fair dinkum" or just infested with intelligence officers :o giving the Johnny Howhard, I mean Howard government a BOOST of "how nice we are"! :D

  18. Hi - I would appreciate also the names of any Isaan schools as I need to go north to teach. I am TEFL qualified, experienced and have a B.A... No not a bad attitude :o

Irish, if it is of any use to you there is an all girls school (THAI) in Udornthani. Approx 3,900 girls there, mainly 90% ISSAN. The name of the school is SATREERACHINUTID SCHOOL, Sri Suk Road. Don't ask me what the phone number is as I have lost it. I believe there is an English guy teaching English there now, according to my Thai gf. Give it a go, nothing to lose. :D
