  1. 2 hours ago, bark said:

Please use the On- Off switch which is positioned on the wall of your house.

Or stick your mother in-law outside; away from the house about 5 meter. Tie a 300 watt light to her head.

If you do not have a Mother in-law, please feel free to use mine

PS Can deliver free, anywhere in LOS

  2. A couple of weeks ago, my g/f and i went to a new monks party, which was held about 200 km`s away. 2 cousins in the family were going to be ordained into the Monkhood. When we arrived, they were smoking and had their arms around their g/f`s. I thought this was inappropriate behaviour, but was told that they were only going to be Monks for 4 months, then they were coming home again. This seems to be normal behavior, but it seemed to me as if they were treating it as a game.

It`s very sad, that some people can be so frivalous about tradition and religion.

  3. Yesterday was my 90 day report in Kap Choeng office and the lady there told us there would be an office in Buriram soon which would be brilliant for me. thumbsup.gif

Looks like I'm on the right tract. The Lady did say everywhere will have it's own visa office. I just put in PET: SUK: & K.P.PHET because she mentioned those pacifically.

Joy of joys time for a beer.

Will the office in Nakhon Sawan still remain open? I live 80kms south of N/S, so i certainly do not want to have to travel any further north to do my reporting. So it appears, that although some will benefit, others will lose out?

  4. Mine says "you are good man for me" but she forgot my birthday again this year. 555 mai mee samong?

I've met this type of woman before, be very careful, as she is all about taking. You are a good man to her, but she never thought about being a good wife to you. This type of relationship is quite tiring. She forgets your birthday, but you can never forget hers. She will make a big deal out of it. Self absorbed selfish.... sigh.

That must be my g/f you are referring to. You have described her perfectly.

  5. My g/f`s daughter used to come round every other weekend and clean and tidy up,

move furniture and pot plants about, put things away, sometimes never to be seen again.

One day I manned up and told her to leave things alone, yes I like things tidy,

"a place for everything and everything in its place", but don`t keep changing the place.

Now she comes once a month, ignores me, doesn`t move anything or clean, so I am expected

to pay a local woman to come in once a week to give the house a good clean. She eats a couple

of meals, sits for two or three hours talking to the g/f and playing on the phone does an

hours work and goes home with her full day`s pay, plus a couple of bags of produce from

our garden. Talk about "out of the frying pan" I don`t think a falang will ever win, best to

just sit back and remember Doris Day, "whatever will be will be"

  6. It`s good to read such an interesting topic. Owners of vehicles will always give you a

truer opinion than the manufacturers. Second hand is a good option, as long as you are

careful and buy from a reputable dealer. Many Thais do not like second hand, always want

new, they cannot understand that the first year after a new vehicles registration, is the

biggest depreciation period. You should be ok though, having a farang wife. Good luck

    and keep us posted

  7. Thailand is the country to choose. It has an oversupply of rubber and it is well placed in the Asean community as an export location.

Thailand would probably have been a foregone conclusion, had it not been for the Military Government. This aside, let`s hope Apollo

choose LOS for their Asean expansion, any investment here is more than welcome.

  8. Kenny, what an enjoyable and entertaining thread you have started on here. At last no politics, no back biting, no spelling or punctuation police to spoil the interesting and light hearted banter. An interesting topic, interspersed with anecdotes, humour and advice. Not often we get such good entertainment on here, well done. I hope you got the answers you were looking for, it seems you should live your life as you want to, don`t take notice of the minority and advise your wife to do the same........Good luck

  9. Surely, any scheme to encourage the people to save for their retirement should be applauded.

My Mother in law, (well into her eighties,) receives 800 Baht pension per month from the local Amphur.

Even in LOS this is a joke, How can they expect pensioners to live for a month on that pittance?

Answers on a postcard please, to The Good General, Military Mansions, Millionairs Row, Bangkok.

  10. I bought my Labrador for my wife in 2003, 12 months before she died. The dog took her place in my heart and she went

everywhere with me. We came to LOS five years ago and continued to enjoy life together. Three months ago she was diagnosed

with diseased kidney`s and liver cancer. I gave her the best treatment I could find, but after a couple of months her health

was still failing. She could`nt walk and she refused to eat or drink, but the Vet refused to put her to sleep as it went

against her beliefs and religion. After much searching, I found a country vet who was prepared to do it for a price. (He had

to pay a large sum to his local Temple to atone for his sin.) I buried her in the garden and four Monks came and held a

burial service. You have been given some good leads on here, I am sure you will find someone to do it for you, when the time

    comes.

  11. About two weeks is correct, if they keep stalling you ask to be taken to the office, one of them will go instead and usually come back with your card. Advisable to use it fairly frequently, if it is not used for more than two months it could be cancelled. They cancelled mine for that reason and were reluctant to renew it...Thinking on my feet....I immediately told that my wife used her card all the time when shopping here but now we are separated so I will be using my own card from now on...the boss lady gave a nod of approval to her underling after giving the situation some thought, and the wheels were set in motion.

"I didn't get to where I am today by not being able to think on my feet" (remember who that was?).

P.S. I often wonder if getting the card was worth all the bother when you compare prices with the regular shopping mall prices.

That would be "CJ" at Sunshine Desserts. He never got where he was today, without something or other. Good old Reggie Perrin.

  12. I think the solar energy they are talking about here is more in a commercial sense for the national grid, rather than individual users. I live in Nakhon Nowhere and two months ago we had a representative from a company that already has a large solar farm in the area, arrange a meeting with a group of farmers with adjoining land. He wants to rent 300rai at a very good rate of payment, for the next twenty five years, with an option for another twenty five. The rent he has offered per year, is at least five times as much as we can earn, growing our normal crops of sugar and sweetcorn. These solar farms are government backed and the details for this one, should be finalised by the end of the year.

  13. Can`t help you with the rough looking Thai guy. Secrets? In my experience, Thai women only tell you what they want you to know, or what they think is enough information to keep you happy. Yellow eyes, get both of you checked out at a good hospital. 10 years ago my wife`s eyes turned yellow, she then had yellow blotches on her skin, 6 months later she died from liver cancer. I must admit that she drank quite a lot of brandy on a daily basis, but the yellowing could be a sign of something serious.

  14. I came with my dog last year from UK. I came on Aeroflot, with the dog travelling on the same plane, as excess baggage. The price for the dog was £125. I found all the information needed, at the Thai Consul Hull UK website, from where I downloaded the import forms and had them filled in ready to present to the Thai animal import office. It took about 30mins to complete the import process, which cost 100Baht. Go through the goods to declare channel and the customs charge 1000Baht duty. Good luck.
