  1. Same thing happened to be a few months back.Walked past Central World it was 1.30 pm very busy.Stopped to buy an orange juice. Some homeless guy in shorts open shirt no shoes came down the steps and followed me and then closed in to a about a metre behind me.I moved over and he passed i got to the end of road to turned right towards Siam BTS..I clocked him out to my left standing at the corner, sensed he was up to no good and when i glanced back he had a picked up a massive brick(see pict the guy in it is not the perp .took it from sky walk ) and was coming at me.I turned and he stopped and started shouting.I quickly moved up to about a foot from him and managed to grad the brick which was one of the kerb stones and push him back.he dropped the brick and I retreated fast and when i looked again he had lifed a a stick from behind the pillars holding the sky train..By that time i was up the steps and he yelled some more but by then i was well on my way into the shopping mall.Scary stuff.

I reackon he had placed the stone there and the stick and was waiting for a victim. He probably saw me pay for the orange juice though i did not see him at that point. Then followed me to hit me on the head and rob me.

If i had not turned around a 100% certain would have had that on my head. With hindsight should have dropped him on the spot but happend so quick and if i had could have ended much worse so i licked my pride and got over it.did the right thing beating a retreat,

I was obviously considered for a mugging as I came out of Bangkok Bank Emporium branch yesterday. I was in there about 30 minutes, came out and headed to the BTS staircase by Benjasiri park carrying a bag with my passport, bank book etc but no cash. As I was walking underneath the stairs to go up I noticed some shifty looking local guy was following me about a metre behind me, I sensed him so I stopped to let him past me. My girlfriend commented that he looked pretty dodgy and I agreed so we waited a few seconds and carried on. He was waiting for me at the bottom of the BTS steps. As I approached he moved out into my path so me and the gf both stopped and just looked at him (we commented/joked later that we both had a defiant/aggressive expression of "well come on then, if you're going to try and rob us then get on with it").

He stared at us a couple of seconds and turned his back and jogged off into Benjasiri Park. Very dodgy, almost certainly waiting outside for someone to leave the bank.

Not sure what happened to this guy on Asoke, but don't assume if you're doing nothing wrong then nothing will happen, especially in the current economic climate.

sure you haven't been watching the godfather too many times ..... whistling.gif

Nice one whistling.gif I was expecting some smartass comments from the usual TV bellends but expected better than that...

Just a warning for people, they can ignore it if they like. I've been full time in BKK 7 years now and that was the first time I've felt like I was being sized up for a robbery. GF felt exactly the same thing. This was 1pm in the afternoon.

  2. Gazza,

If you're getting legal advice, then ask your brief about getting married in Thailand and applying for a family permit on the back of your Irish passport. The family permit is free and the requirements are less stringent.

    Scouse.

Thanks Scouse i will do that. knowing my luck after all this she will get here and it will freeze her cute little ass off.i am back there in 3 weeks cant wait :o freezing wet and shitty here. Appreciate the advise everyone.

  3. hello thanks for all the replys..

We had phone bills, emails, photos, joint hotel receipts, plane tickets.I had a recent utility bill from my house. Two years accounts. i realise that i might need to bring more proof.I have taken legal advice and now know what to have ready.eg tax returns instead of accounts.

We are both genuine and the help i am getting here will ensure i am better prepered when i go to the appeal.i understand why the embassy needs to be careful but it is rather annoying when the reasons for refusal are rather unfounded.

  4. Reasons why visa was turned down where the following. Could not provide adequate accommodation,i own a three bedroom detached house. Can not maintain ourselves with out recourse of public funds,i have my own business and it is doing well.provided accounts to embassy. Are not satisfied that we are going to live together after marriage.. of course we are why would we not?Tthey stated that while interviewed she new little about our intended marriage arrangements .none have been made yet i thought it best not to send out invites and book a limo untill she had a visa. i have written a letter in reply to the reasons why and sent it with my appeal.

  5. hi just thoght id let you know this number,i was being stiffed by BT and some kind person gave me this number 08444629629 just follow instructions and it is 2p a min to thailand from any uk phone.no sign up just dial the number. hope it eases you phone bills.

  6. i have recently had an aplication for a six month fiancee visa refused. Many of the reasons why are simpley a bit unbelivable.I wont bore you as im sure you have heard them many times.I have appelled this and hope to show that these reasons are unjust and ill founded. In the mean time i am returning to bangkok very soon.I was wondering if it would be wise to apply for a 30 day holiday visa so my fiancee can meet my parents and friends. She can then return to Thailand and this may help in showing our intentions are genuine.

Second question is i live in Northern Ireland and will soon have an irish passport. Therefore having dual citizenship. What are the possibilities of bring my fiancee back to southern ireland through the irish embassy and her staying with me in the north.any advise would be most welcome.

    thank you ,

    gazza
