My 90 days is up, can I do a visa run to Mae Sai? or better for me can I extend for another 90 days at chiang mai immigration? I heard border runs were out at Mae Sai and I'm pretty sure I extended my visa for 90 days at immigration before for B1900.

Just go stay in Vietnam with her? Is it so bad for you two there? You're obviously looking for work, you can set your girl up with a business there.

Visa issues. Living in Thailand 23 years off and on now, still working to support family, home etc. Get a visa that says "permission to visit family".... 3 month stay. Impossible to get a multiple entry anywhere except home country and even then it takes weeks. Yet Thais in my home country can get permanent residency after just 5 years. Oh well, after all these years you just go with the flow.

She didn't have plastic chairs out front to claim her spot. I can imagine her getting irate with all the customers she must get selling that cooking oil or whatever it is. I would have just gone about my business and ignored her.

Perth has the same requirements as well.
OK, so Canberra is more straight forward. I see the Thai embassy in nz is the same.
For what it's worth I did receive a reply from Perth and it seems if you can provide the employment requirements they will grant you one (I can't as I work freelance) so I am left with the slightly ambiguous "state your case" letter and hope for the best. This may just mean show sufficient funds (I would show all bank accounts) or not. If not approved you've lost your $240 fee and a potentially wasted trip if you've flown in to apply like I would.
If you require a Multiple Entry visa due to the nature of your employment, the additional requirements include a letter from your employer with information advising your title, the nature of the "Fly in Fly out" position, your length of employment, and current salary. Some financial information is also required. Typically this would be copies of your last 3 months pay advices and a copy of a current bank statement in your name. These need to be provided when you submit your application.
If you require a Multiple Entry visa due to other reasons, these must be stated in a letter with your application. In addition, financial information to demonstrate the ability to support yourself in Thailand would be required.
In August 2016 the Royal Thai Embassy advised that all applications for Multiple Entry Non Immigrant Visas had to be approved by the Embassy after being processed by the respective Consulate. This may add a day or two to the normal 4 day visa processing time. This is why we suggest you apply 2 weeks before your travel date.
We contact visa applicants as soon as we are notified that their visas have been approved by the Embassy.

New Zealand has no such restrictions according to their website.
I just find it astounding that there is no commonality on visa requirements at Thai consulates world wide.
How is that possible? Each consulate just makes up their own rules?
-
They've made it harder still
- As of 15 August 2016, there are strict requirements regarding the issuance of Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant Visas, which will only be issued on a case by case basis. For further information, please contact us direct to discuss any such application.
Anyone know the requirements and how hard it is to get one? It would be a wasted trip if I can't as because of the fact I have a family dependant on me to provide for them and immigration want to see funds in the bank (likely 400k) I need to leave regularly to work! But they go and make it difficult to get a visa that allows you to do this very thing!
I did email them but thought to ask if anyone has experience in it.
-
I'm just astounded that people think it's fine to travel and live halfway around the world from home and only have 10,000 baht to their name. No back up funds for an emergency situation like this, not even a couple of hundred bucks. Amazing.
Maybe their is a clause in you're travel insurance and they can help? Assuming you have some that is.
-
They say you need 400k to prove you got money to look after your wife/kids and living expenses to get the visa then you're not supposed to touch it for 30 days? I don't think so.
-
Where do you buy steak for $30/35?
I bought 2 great rib eyes for 16 bucks and it was fantastic. Try finding that in Thailand.
Buy a case of good beer for $50 that works out to 4 bucks a bottle. And it isn't Chang or Leo!
-
400 baht for a few millilitres of chicken stock..... Thais don't care, it's the cost that is the main thing and why you see them sold as gift baskets. It could be just scented water and as long as it's expensive they will buy it and make a big show of handing it over to someone and gaining that all important face.
-
The Mae Baan told me they have now banned advertising for this. No idea why, maybe because of the outlandish claims they make?

Quite simple, cut off the water and electricity to the condo. This is quite standard procedure. A guy in my condo development had this happen to him and he's using candles and showering in the cleaners closet.
-
I use ac every night. I don't hear dogs barking, cats fighting, late night vehicles passing nor how heavy it is raining. I can close the curtains and am not wakened at dawn. I set it to 26/27 and sleep like a baby. If it is cooler outside, fine, the ac compressor just doesn't kick in as much if at all. It is much nicer sleeping in a dehumidified room and you don't sweat leaving your bedding smelly. I run my ac, my son runs his in our bedrooms, the one in the lounge in the evenings or wherever we are chilling out in there. I keep the filters clean and clean the whole unit every few months and my electricity bill is around 2500 a month. That's nothing.
I tried without the other night as there was a lot of rain and some breeze. Slept with a fan on and woke up at dawn feeling flu like.
A lot depends on what you are used to.

Because you cant cash a bank statement and the rules says 20k or equivalent in cash travellers cheques are as good as cash
Well good, you can't expect people to be walking around with 20k in cash in their pockets.

Travellers cheques?
And just because they are back-packers doesn't mean they are broke.
Never said they were broke, just wondering how budget travellers will keep 20k in cash safe given they use hostels and dorm rooms. Are they accepting travellers cheques? If so why not a bank statement and debit card then?
-
It's quite simple and there are clear rules even the most basic seaman should know. Just like on the road, you give way to the right. The Fitzgerald approached that container ship from the left, the container ship had right of way. Look up "colregs" They are keeping it quiet because it was the US navy's fault. Doesn't take a year to figure it out.

So there's going to be all these backpackers walking around with and stuffing 20,000 in cash under their hostel matresses at night now? Should be a great incentive for theives once they hear about it.

It seems you may be asking about a non-o visa based upon being the parent of Thai (there is no guardian visa).
If have seen no reports of KL doing one. It would only be a single entry visa since they do not issue multiple entry visa.
Penang is the only location that will do a multiple entry non-o based upon being the parent of a Thai. To issue a multiple entry visa they may want to see at least one year of validity (some places want 18 months) on your passport.
At both location it is next afternoon service after applying for the visa.
Thanks UbonJoe. I guess you meant you have seen no reports of KL NOT doing one? a single entry will have to do for now, I just need another 90 days before heading out to work and getting a new passport. KL is more convenient than Penang.

Looking to pick up a non O thai guardian visa in Kuala Lumpur next week as I need to get a work medical done there. Hoping to get any information on any recent experiences doing this?
I have all required documentation and 400k in the bank.
Passport is good for 8 months but only about 4 pages left.
Critically for me is how long it takes to process so I can plan travel.
Would like to get a multiple entry.
Penang is an option if easier as I will be travelling overland to Songkhla afterwards to attend a training course but prefer to do it all in KL.
Thanks guys and gals.

If you work in Australia for ten years you get a pension? Really?
-
Very difficult to reverse direction of a single phase motor (needs the coils inside re wiring) 3 phase is easy, just switch 2 of the phases around.

They need to be thicker bags. I was sure my snacks were going to fall through so I make them double bag it wasting my precious time. Just make them thicker, job done.
