  1. I don't know about Bangkok Bank but you can change your limit up to 200,000. ask your bank wink.png

On Friday police said that Segarra had withdrawn almost 37 million Baht from the Singaporean bank account belonging to the victim, David Bernat.

The withdrawals took place from various ATMs in Bangkok and Ayutthaya.

37 million baht from various ATMs?! do ATMs have that much cash in them? isnt there a daily withdrawl limit on accounts to prevent such things happening?

at Bangkok Bank and SCB the limit is 20,000 baht per 24 hours.

37,000,000 baht divided by 20,000 baht per day is 1,850. 1850 DAYS or FIVE YEARS.

I have Bangkok Bank ATM, was informed maximum per day was 40,000. Have got 50,000 in a day.
Yet again OP says STARTED to withdraw, why are people arguing over whether it is possible to do it via an ATM? Maybe he only took 500 baht out.

ok, but my experience is 20,000 baht is the limit at Bangkok Bank, I know because my rent is 33,000 baht and i have to make two withdrawals over two days to get that much cash. 20,000 one day, 13,000 the second day. this happens every month for the last two years. maybe different for some people.

  3. Normally I would not say this but better caught dead than alive....

Wrong, they need them alive if possible. The ones they could arrest today won't have a nice time in the coming days and they won't commit suicide in jail as well, don't worry. The DGSI, Direction Generale de la securite interieure which means General Directorate for Internal Security (it was before the French Intelligence Services) are not thai cops

  4. So the who person filmed this hopefully gave this guy a good beating. He's been caught on film, but in Thailand can the guy get away with, "My wife is my property. I have the right to do with her whatever I want." ?

You make this sound like this guy should be a muslem.

why moslem? Thai buddhist think exactly the same. So does also my husband and he is buddhist. Men can have as many mia noi as they want, they don't have any problems with this but when the wife has an affair, she is dead.

Btw it's very difficult to do something alone. You would need 10 thais going with you otherwise you could be the next victim., One day in Chaweng at 6 in the morning I saw a man hitting his gf's face with a piece of wood. She was full of blood and a few thai were watching the scene. One of the girls called the police because it was her friend who was hit. Then a german guy (a little bit drunk but not to much) came, took the piece a wood and started to hit this guy. Then the police came and they arrested the german guy who was drunk and assaulted a thai man. facepalm.gif but later all the girls went together to the police station to complain. They arrested then the thai as well. I think both men had to pay 500 baths and bye bye. Revolting but this is the way it is. I hope this guy will get more than this and that this women will recover

  5. Well they're hardly likely to say...Well, having come from a poor family where we barely had enough to eat, having left school at 13, up the duff by 16 and married by 17 to an abusive man who then left me with 2 kids and no money, I still must admit that as a little girl skipping around the school yard, I always thought life would afford me a better outcome than being a hooker in a smelly bar and having to sleep with men as old as my granddad, and being looked down upon as no better than a ragged street dog by my fellow Thais. That said, at least I can fulfil my duty as a Thai and send money home to my mum, and try to offer my kids a better life than I've had.

To admit any unhappiness as a result of being a prostitute would be to lose face completely. It would be to admit failure and wrong doing, and to admit one's parents had failed (an insult of the highest order). Some make a good living and hack it well. Some go through a few husbands and pick up a few pensions and life insurance policies. Many end up alcoholics or drug addicts, with multiple venereal diseases, desperately bitter, unhappy, insecure and never make much money because the parents and extended family take it all for gambling, booze and showing off to the neighbours.

The reality is this: no girl from a well-off family in Thailand ends up a prostitute. No young girl dreams of being a hooker when she grows up.

this is about what I wanted to say. I wanted to read all the men's comment first. Happy you said it, Kennypowers. I'm not thai and I'm not a man but I have many thai friends (girls) who work in bars. Most of them are NOT happy but why would they tell this to you men? Men must feel you make them happy Some of them even suffer and dream of finding a nice farang to stay with. Many of these girls are drug or alcool addict or even both. Is this a sign of happiness?

I know also a few "happy" girls. They sit in bars since maybe between 6 months and one year. They are happy with the money they can make. Soon they will get tired of living at night, They will drink and take drugs more and more. And this costs money + the money they send home, so they also have to work more and... bye bye happiness

  6. "Tourist was drunk & senseless". No heart and no soul from this copper. Venting his fury at more Thailand spotlight & him being the designated spokesperson.

I think people forget Thai is a very literal language and when it get translated to English it sounds very cold and direct.

Before you go pointing the finger maybe learn a bit about thai sentence structure and vocabulary.

for me they did some google translate. When you translate senseless to thai you get หมดสติ and this means unconscious. Was she ? if not they could say she was drunk and unaware, careless or something like this.

Btw, where are the active posts? gigglem.gif

  7. this has nothing to do with this post but i don't understand the problem some people have with the word "farang". The first foreigners who came to Thailand (it still was Siam at this time) were ambassadors of Louis XIV and they were french (farangset). Farang is the word for non Asian people and it's not racist. Learn thai and the origin of the words.

By the way, there still are people all over the world who call the black people "negros" Is this better?

    Have a nice day everybody

  8. Well, the new police chief has said that 90 % of the case is solved so I guess that only leaves the small matter of who actually was behind the bombing. But I guess I'm nitpicking.

No terrorists here !!! Abdullah and Mohammed are good Thai names.

Surely it must be someone else's fault after all they just do God's work. No work, No Industry just killing, been the same for 1400 years.

Abdullah and Mohammed are muslim names. Nothing to do with nationality. There are many thai muslims

and you can be muslim, terrorist AND thai, all in one, what do you think about this?

  10. well done for the BTS station but I agree with Taoni. Why not close also the road. At 6.30 pm there are many many cars with many many people on the road. Anyway, happy to see that they "rushed" to the place and that it was not a bomb. I agree also that it's just IMPOSSIBLE to forget a bag in such a place. Maybe we will never know what happened. Are the surveillance cameras in this area working??? wink.png

  11. this is difficult to answer. One day they tell you a story, the next day another one. This is very disturbing. I believe that the two may be involved or paid to do it but I believe there must be some "boss" of these men. The guy with two different (probably wrong) names looks much smaller than the yellow shirt man on the CCTV. But again, with the quality of their cameras, it's difficult to be sure. I really hope they caught the right ones. I don't get it that they don't want any help from outside. Losing face would be better than lose more people in such a tragedy. The guy (with two different names) could be the one coming out of the restroom at Lumpini but again, where are the wig and the glasses? I find also very disturbing that this guy has to wear a yellow shirt when he is going to be seen by the public. I guess they know more than we do and this is normal that they cannot reveal everything they know. I really hope they will catch all of them soon, really

  12. I'm a woman and YES I have Thai male friends. Real friends who don't want your money but help you when you have a difficult time. I know a few of them since about 30 years. Some are very well educated, some went to school only a few years but they have a good heart. I also speak fluently thai (much better than english) and this helps for sure. I have also a few female friends but they speak to much, always must be careful what I can tell them or not. This doesn't happen with the men
