Life is dangerous. Thai can be particularly so. For the same action, you cannot be sure what the reaction will be. A smile? Or a lot of trouble. All depends on the variables. To report this incident to us is good as a reminder. Playful is not always well received. And so many people are so full of shyst. Especially this enviroment.  In the West you have the attempt to control you with Political Correctness.  SUCH BORING PEOPLE.  Sometimes, perhaps most times, your action having backfired, a simple real "I am sorry"  is the best return.  Not everything is about right and wrong.

Addressed to Giddyup.  Your Replys to my comment on the nature of dogs tells me loads about you. You are clearly non-useful. Many have made intelligent discussions, few as exstreme as I would prefer, but intelligent. We cannot solve the dog problem directly (probably) as it is not our country. But we CAN Maintain a stand concerning it. Thereby INFLUENCE. I myself have been successful in this. We should Not have dogs ,as example.  And Stand like a mountain on the issue. I have spent a lifetime encountering and experiencing being victim to the negative attributes of DOGS. And listening to the profound ignorance of emotionally retarded people who love, protect, make excuses for dogs.  The ultimate truth is that a dog IS a projection of the owners personality. The owner inflicts on you,,by proxy,, what He or She cannot do directly.  It is a power trip. A rabbit is wonderful especially for children, just example. Virtually all free roaming dogs should be eliminated. I am over 75. Impossible to get insurance. I would live in a different country if I could. Point. At some point in your life you ARE on your own. Take responsibility for it. Take care, be careful ACCEPT what comes. I have strong Will and Faith in Gods plan for me. I have gone to hospital here for less than catastrophic. On Thursday last I did my 90 day report at Phitsanulok. Passport through scanner and printout new receipt with new date in October.

I was handed one of these information forms and filled in as much as I could re addresses here and there etc. I signed it, no photo, handed it back to the young lady behind the desk and she just placed it on a pile without so much as a glance.

I think they are just going through the motions to keep the guys, with heavy metal on their shirts, happy. I suspect its not worth the paper it is printed on, since most of the important details about me and my passport are all in their computer files.

Is Thailand deepening ties with Russia at the expense of the US?

As an intelligent informed American expat with 10 years in Thailand my answer is I certainly hope so. Would one rather be tied to a sociopathic psychotic warmongering govt that sends storm trooper terrorists all over the world murdering innocent civilians and destroying whole countries looking for faux terrorist (ISIS is funded, trained, armed, staffed and deployed by US CIA NATO) in the name of "humanitarian genocide" or tied to a country and govt leader that despite having been surrounded by US missile bases and all the psychological and physical prodding they have received from the psychotic US govt has held their cool and not been goaded into a nuclear war ... Also a little off thread but some have commented about the coming US POTUS elections. The best POTUS for Thailand and the world would have been the intelligent honorable honest peace loving Ron Paul but the political criminal US duopoly of the demoRATS and rePUGlicans crushed him using money and their manipulative MSM tool. The best person still in the running for POTUS would be Bernie Sanders but neither he nor Trump will be allowed to become POTUS. Both would be better than the next POTUS to be Killery Billery. She's as evil as the day is long. If you think Obama Bush and other past POTUS were bad wait till you see what she has in store for the world. But she is the puppet pick of TPTB and no matter who the village idiot sheeple vote for she will be POTUS. If you think the US POTUS election is honest you have a lot to learn. I am so happy to see the amost universal agreement concerning Budhism in Thailand. It did not take all of my eight years here to discover that of all the BS and Lies, that this is the biggest one. And the saddest. I am Christian but very studied in much. Basic (real original) Budhism, which is essentially the correct understanding of the MIDDLE WAY, is as close to being Christian in Behavior that you can get. These people do not have a clue. Exceptions of course. Most Thai are exstreenist in practice. Sometimes I wonder what the point is talking about any of these things. Impossible to change them. And if you tell the new farang on the block, to help him, he will not listen. MAYBE there is reason for our being here. I call it PURGATORY. Successful Democracy requires the ability of, and use of CRITICAL THOUGHT. Neither exists in Thailand, other third world countrys, and is being smothered out in America. Only anarchy exists here as the primary character of the people. You Know that!. Voting? Who pays the most money to you gets your vote here. I have lived in the village and elsewhere. I know the truth and so do you. Democracy is a white mans game at best. Some modified form must be developed to train these people. As it is, periodically a strict man (despot as you call him) must take hold to get on track. Of COURSE he will be called bad things by a people who do not want to be told ANYTHING. And you KNOW the Thai does not want to be told anything. DICIPLINE is a dirty word here, does not even exist for the most part. I do not know this man but unless you have good cause to bad mouth him,, maybe you should be quiet.

I've spent plenty of time in Isaan and I've got plenty of "educated" Bangkok Thai friends. In my experience there are plenty of Thais across the full spectrum that are capable of forming and expressing an opinion in this area. There are some aspects of Thai thinking that make me think there's an overall lack of sophistication in political thinking but that's not exactly purely a Thai position. I mean a simple reading of political "debate" in the UK or the U.S. would lead to similar views.

The idea that Thais need a dictator is about as absurd as the idea that election outcomes swing on vote buying. Not a single external analyst believes vote buying changed the result in any of the recent elections - and quite a few studies have been done. Vote "buying" is widespread but is not determinative. Of course you'll disagree and instead base your absolute knowledge on anecdotal personal experience. And who I am to get between a bigot and his strongly held view.

Previously I recommended the unit. I would like to add something. I highly recommend a whole house filter as well. After the water meter. If you have a storage tank with pressure pump, a whole house filter before the tank, and one or two after the pressure pump. Overkill? Maybe, but I have never been sorry. The amount of MUD it sometimes captures is amazing. Saves the tank, system in the house AND your wonderful expensive Amway water purifier. The bad?side is that water filter cartriges in Thailand cost double what they are worth. I use only 1 micron or 5 micron, in combination.

Yes I recommend. Bought one 6 years ago, still have. Actually used it for 2-3 years only because I rent and it seems trouble too much to plumb for it. Yes, no simple kitchen faucet available. So I spend a fortune for good bottled water when I Could make my own. By the way FUJI bottled water very best for drinking. Yes by all means consider the Amway unit.
