  1. An Idea.......Every person who goes before a court must get a minimum of 5 hours cleaning up rubbish in their town or village. They can do it in groups with minimal supervision from one of the lazy cops. How about very low risk prisoners getting a day out to clean up too ? They do that in many countries with good results.  Written by jaiyen

I love this idea however as a punishment 5 hours is too little in view of many Thais working attitude. Should be at least 1 day!

It is much easier to buy submarines to keep other submarines or war ships away or even attack whoever (hahaha) than providing sufficient garbage bins and collect them regularly. To educate them to take the garbage home and dispose it there might be a too big task! Keep your country tidy!

  2. "In a raft of measures in line with the government's desire to reduce alcohol related crime and health issues spokeswoman Praewphan Ponhpaiboon announced at a press briefing that the government will implement an alcohol sales policy similar to the Swedish "System Bolaget"  wherein alcohol is only sold in designated stores. "

This proposal is much more restrictive than the Swedish system. Firstly you can buy at any "System Bolaget"  anywhere in the country. Secondly there is no restriction on the quantity you can purchase. Thirdly you can buy all day during normal shop opening times. However there is an age limit in that you must be over 21 years old and be able to prove it. This is to stop teenage binge drinking.

The Thai solution is ridiculous. It means if you go on holiday you are unable to buy even a bottle of wine to have with dinner. Also ridiculous is the strange times you can buy alcohol here, of course shops ignore this rule.

Of course it will only be on the 1st April each year

Maybe they will replace it with February 29 and have it every 4 years only!

  3. I am one from abroad but I just followed the comments here. I just come regularly to Thailand also for business but I do not hate Thailand nor the people at all. I respect the people in the countries I am visiting, I guess more than many Thai people respect each other. Proper criticism can be helpful if read by the right people but I think too few Thai politicans read the articles here. Of course it would mean they can read english in the first place and understand the meaning of it! I hope we do not get too many cartoons here!
