  1. It could be the beginnings of a scam or it could be the truth. Either way I'd get out, you really don't want to get in the middle of this. It costs as little as £300 to contract a killing in Thailand and he might have mate who will do it for nothing or in repayment of a debt. Don't think she can't be traced and he won't be able to find either of you because the whole place is corrupt, if he wants to find her he can. At the very least wherever you go, whatever you do, you will be looking over your shoulder.... its just not worth it.

  2. Must admit it doesn't look good for this poor guy and I'm not sure the Thai police will ever get to the bottom of what happened. Lets face it Thailand is a beautiful country but it has a dark side and life is cheap. Anybody in the same position as this guy whether visiting or living in the country needs to be careful about what they say and do and try not to put themselves in vulnerable situations. We have dealt with many cases of broken or difficult relationships between Thai's and Farangs our advice (as a previous poster has already stated) is to make yourself worth more alive than dead. This might ensure you have whole family looking out for your health and a long and happy life.

  3. I agree with a previous comment. This monthly allowance sounds like more than enough to me. Ask her for a breakdown of where the money is going and check the information is correct. She might be putting some away for security or giving the money to boyfriend. Don't fall into the trap of comparing costs of living in the West to that of Isaan.

  4. There are different kinds of love, romantic love in Pattaya will be hard to find, on the other hand you might find somebody who loves you and is faithful because you are kind, support them and their family and ask little of them. It's still love just a different type of love. Relationships are complicated, as long as you see them for what they are you will be alright. Most of the people we represent are often disappointed because they expect romantic emotional love when really they are involved in something more practical, based more on money and material support than feelings.

  5. I heard of a case where somebody got a Limo from the airport instead of a Taxi by mistake. The limo driver stopped on the road just outside the airport and waved down a Taxi . he gave the Taxi driver the money to drive into town and swapped the customers suitcase over. When the customer got out to follow his suitcase he drove off pocketing the money he had been given for the trip into town.

  6. There are a lot of cynical post here but for good reason. Many of these posters are doing so from first hand experience something that has affected either them or somebody close to them. You may be lucky with this girl but you will have to be very, very lucky. I estimate you have a 95% chance of ending up financially and emotionally worse off than when you met her. Small requests for money are just the start and may soon escalate as fabricated disasters befall her, her extended family and her farm animals. Be very very careful with your finances and heart mate and ask yourself if she speaks good english how a girl living on a farm learnt the language if it wasn't working in the tourist or entertainment industry at sometime in her past or present. Also it is unusual for a Thai girl brought up with traditional Thai values to sleep with a guy on the first date. Other posters were correct research Stickman or some of our blogs about girl scammers.

  7. I heard of one scam by motor bike rental businesses who rent out motor bikes mainly to tourists. The customer (tourist) rents the bike and signs the insurance documents thinking they are fully covered. While talking to the customer the hire company sales person finds out the name of the customers hotel and when they are planning to fly home. The night before either the bike is due to be returned or the customer is due to fly home, using a second set of keys, the hire company takes (steals) the motorbike from outside the hotel and hides it. The next morning the customer discovers the bike stolen and visits the hire company to inform them of the bad news (still thinking they are safely insured). On hearing what has happened the hire company act outraged and point out the insurance only covered the customer for accidents and not theft. They call a friendly policeman and say they want compensation for the loss of their motorbike. The policeman says compensation needs to be paid to the hire company for the loss of the motorbike the customer will have to go to the police station to sort the matter out. The customer, not wanting to be arrested pays up as much compensation as they can afford to avoid trouble and so they can fly home.

The policeman gets his cut, the scammed customer flies out of the country and a couple of hours later the motorbike is back on the forecourt ready for hire again.

    Scam complete

  8. Best scam I heard of was the guy who married a Thai girls and as a wedding present was given a plot of land on the wife family's farm so he could build them both a house to live in..... which he did. Once the house was built he went away for a few weeks on business. When he came back a Thai guy had moved into the house and told him to clear off. When he tried to get his house he was told the ownership paperwork on the land the house had been built on had never been completed and it still belonged to his wife family. He didn't have any legal right to be either on the property or cross the family land to get to the house.

  9. For those pf you thinking of signing up for this type of thing please watch out. Although some work out often they are just ways of getting money from lonely people. many of these girls are signed up to many sites at the same time, once married (which often is just a blessing) the would be husband takes responsibility for their wife thinking they will come and live with him in his home country. For the next year he is supporting her and her family (as any good husband would) paying for emergancies and sending money for visas, an other expenses only for the marriage to break down at the end of that period. Of course its all a scam and was from the very beginning, the would be bride never intended to go through with it and move, or the marriage. It was just a way of being supported for a year. Some have two or three guys on the go at the same time.

Always check a girl out before you get too involved guys, don't be hurried into anything, theres a good chance you are going to be the victim of a scam and lose a lot of money.
