Hi.....I recently renewed my 1 year extension or retirement visa as I call it and also obtained a single entry re-entry visa as I will be visiting family back in the UK later this year (for about 4 months). My passport expires early in 2025 so I was thinking about renewing my UK passport while I was back in the UK as it is a little bit easier than having to go Bangkok etc. My retirement visa is stamped until 31st January 2025.....
I have a few questions regarding this, please bear with me if I ramble on a little bit, thanks.
My first question is: If I do renew my UK passport will I be allowed to enter Thailand with my new passport and still use my retirement visa and re-entry visa which will then be stamped in my old passport. I did briefly ask the guy who did the retirement visa and he said it should be ok, but I just wondered if any of our members had actual experience of doing this?
2nd question: If I do get back into Thailand ok with visas and both passports, will I have to transfer my retirement visa over from my old passport to the new one or will I be able to just renew it when it's due and have the new one stamped in my new UK passport?
and 3rd question: After I return back into Thailand and do have a new UK passport with me, when my 90 day report is due (usually I do it online),...... will I have to do the first 90 day report in person then afterwards can I continue submitting it online as usual?
many thanks in advance for any advice on this topic and apologies again for any confusion I may cause in my questions.

Hi just a couple of quick questions....I have to renew my year extension or retirement visa as i call it in January 2024....last year the queues at Jomtien immigration were horrendous....
I just wondered:
1. Are the queues still the same? (if so which is best sort of time to go down there)
2.And as there been any separation into different queues or sections for different visa needs example: 1 year extensions, re-entry visas, tourist extensions, 90 day reports etc to speed up the process?
many thanks in advance (p.s looked for a recent thread on this topic but couldn't find one)

Hi......If i could ask any member to clarify something for me I would greatly appreciate. apologies if my question seems a bit muddled but been trying to think how to word it so its clear....any way here goes:
I will be renewing my year extension or retirement visa as I refer to it the first couple of weeks in January 2023 (the official date when it expires is 31st Jan 2023). I will be returning to the UK in early March to help take care of my elderly mother so after I have renewed the retirement visa I will also get a re-entry visa.....a couple of questions if I may:
Q1. Is there any stipulation as to how early a re-entry visa can be obtained before my flight (first week in March) or are the re-entry visas valid for a certain amount of time after they are issued say 6 months or a year etc.?
Q2. I really dont know how long i will be in the UK dependent on how mum is so i have booked a one way flight, but Im aware I will have to be back at the end of the year (2023) or so to renew my Retirement visa again....so my long winded question is: if say i came back at the end of December 2023 bearing in mind my new visa renewal date will be 31st Jan 2024, would I still get the 90days on arrival at the airport with my re-entry visa even tho I would only have maybe a month on my retirement visa?
Sorry for the long winded confusing 2nd question but couldnt think how to put it more clearly......many thanks in advance

maybe things have changed coz my wife made my appointment (her name but for foreigner) with the app maybe 3 months ago or so ........and Thais are not being directed to go to private driving school because the thais take the online training course, which I stated in my initial post.....but by all accounts what the lady told my wife this morning and again when she rang them up later on to confirm.......if a ferrang gets a training cert from a private driving school before July... the ferrang can take the training certs with all the other required documents and renew on that day.....its all very confusing to me to be honest
-
just a small update.....wife rung the DLT again this morning and only recently have they suggested going to private driver training schools to obtain 1 hour training certs..........if training certs are obtained then ferrang can indeed do the renewals......and can turn up without an appointment

hi.....just wanted to give members an heads up on my experience renewing or not renewing my driving licenses this morning.
Both my thai car and bike 5 year licenses run out in June so my wife booked me an online appointment a couple of months ago for today 29th April...I was booked in at the government place just off highway 36 near the big international school just outside Pattaya, (dont know the correct name for the area)....Took along my documents: certificate of residences, passport copies, doctors certificate (which they do require at this particular office)....and passport etc....Went early plenty of people there but was told ferrang can go to doors and wait....(lady said I didnt need an online booking appointment).....
So went inside and was told to get a number from the ticket machine and wait until the number came up on the display and then could go to floor 2 and have documents checked........
Number came up so went to floor 2 to get docs checked only to be told by the woman there, that a 1 hour certificate training course is needed......the Thais do it online and receive some kind of cert to show but no online provisions have been made for us ferrang.......
She told us that the 1 hour training program at their offices would be open again in July but I would have to make an appointment in July when it opened again......but she said I could go to a private driving school to get the cert.....So was turned away this morning without my renewal........
My wife suggested using a driving school at north pattaya she used a couple of years ago, so she rang to enquire........for 1 hour training and cert is about 200baht......but because I want to renew bike and car licenses will have to sit for 2 hours and 400 baht for 2 x certs, they informed the wife that it is different training for the bike and car cert so could not just do a photocopy of 1 cert.....So she has booked me in for Saturday afternoon because I want to get it sorted before my doctors cert runs out after 1 month.....So all being well will get the training certs at the weekend and will be able to just turn up at the license place (fingers crossed) to renew next week.... god willing...........
I just wanted to let any members know in case anyone is wanting to renew in the next few weeks at the same place i went to....... With my experience this morning it seems to be getting more and more difficult with all the requirements needed to renew a license now ????

Has any members heard anything about the online reporting being down, would just like to know if its a fault at their end or a fault with my browser/computer........many thanks in advance

Don't know if I have posted this in the correct place if not apologies........ I have an appointment to renew my driving 5 year Thai driving licenses for bike and car in March at the big place at side of Highway 36 near the big international school. I know from previous renewals I will need 2 certificate of residences, being 1 for each licence...... A couple of questions if you could advise please: How long are the certificates of residence valid for is it 1 month or???? ....and also, its been a while since I obtained one from Jomtien immigration so I cant remember if you collect on the same day or do you have to go next day to pick them up?
Secondly Im a bit confused about wether you need a doctors certificate to renew a 5 year licence, coz Im sure I read a newsletter saying that now all licence renewals need a doctors certificate so if anyone could clarify for me, I would really appreciate......and if a doctors cert is needed a last point or question is how long are the Docs certs valid for?
many thanks in advance for any advice given on this subject........thank you
