My Thai Girlfirend is living with me in Ireland on a 3 month holiday Visa.
We intend to get married in March in Thailand. What notice period must we give
to the Irish consulate ?
She will then apply for a settlement Visa for Ireland , I'm hoping to here from anyone who has gone through this process and am looking for some help and guidance.
Given the hoops and time it took for a holiday Visa for Ireland I'm worried how long this process might take. Whats the normally time period ?
Obvoiusly due to work I can only stay a limited time in Thailand in March.
Any tips on how the process can be speeded up ?
We hope to set-up a business here in Ireland .
How long does this process take for the UK ? ( I'm orginally from N.I. )
So might apply through the UK , she also holds a 6 month UK holiday Visa.
I believe then because I work in Dublin I could also apply my EU treaty writes
to bring her to Dublin.
All advice very much welcome !

Myself and my Thai girlfriend hope to get married in March.
She has a good job in thailand at the moment and holds a holiday 6 month visa for the UK.
I'm from N. Ireland but work and live in Dublin. She has applied for holiday visa for the Irish republic which I hope she gets in the next couple of weeks. This will be for 3 months and she will have to give up her job in Thailand.
Ideally I would like to get married in the Republic and apply for a marriage visa so we don't have to live apart. From what I have read I believe she can't get married in the republic when on a holiday visa. Can someone confirm this ?
I think we will need to return to Thailand and marry there but I'm worried that when she repplies for a marriage Visa in March that it will take them alongtime to process her application. Anybody have any experience of this ? is there anything I can do to speed up the process ? After we are married I will need to return to Ireland for work and hope that we will not be apart for long.
Could I marry her in Nothern Ireland ? in the republic you have to give 3 months notice of marriage . Any idea whats the situation in the UK.
All help welcome and appreciated.

Whooh four days I did'nt think they would turn around visa so fast I hope we are as lucky thanks for all the info. Well did your girlfriend enjoy Ireland and the weather ?
How long did they issue travel visa is the max 3 months for Ireland ?
Do you know if there's any problem flying into Belfast on a UK visa ?
I presume not . we wil stay just north of the border and not risk going south just in case I don't want us to ruin any chance of getting Irish visa.
Did you have to say much on how you met ?
well thanks for all the advice I must start getting all my details together.

Great news she got six month visa for the U.K.
So thanks to everyone who has responded so far.
I think the main reason she got Visa was a very good letter from her manager
confirming that she would return.
So I hope to meet in her in London next weekend and then we both fly back
to Bangkok the following weekend and so friday week we will apply for Irish visa in bangkok . So hopefully the fact she has UK visa will stand to her.
shall keep you posted on our progress

She has applied for UK visa first and had interview during the week.
They have phoned her today and asked her to come in , in the morning so hopefully its good news please god fingers crossed.

Hopefully theres someone out there who can give us some more advice.
First I'm an Irish citzen with good job , and financially secure.
My thai girlfriend works for Uk company in Bangkok and is applying
for a UK visa through here work. Her work will sponsor her and I have helped here with the funds. Hopefully she will get visa within a few weeks. So I will visit her in the UK.
Then she will apply for Irish visa , I will act as gaurntor is anybody out there who can advice on how long this process will take and how difficult it is to get a
Irish holiday Visa?
I wil submit
a) letter from work
morgage details
c) and quarntor letter and how we know each other
d) my bank details
e) funds in her account
f) phone bill
Any other details that should be submitted ? She has a degree which she will submit with her application.
What type of visa's are available ? can she reenter multiple times.
I was thinking of also sending flight bookings . I hope she will make it
in time for Christmas.
We are hoping to marry next year in Thailand and I was wondering what rights
if any does she get after marriage i.e. what type of Visa can she get then and how long for ? . We wnat to live in Ireland.
All advice welcome
Oh well since all the know alls wont reply to you i'll try to help a fellow country man.
You seem to have all in order and the fact that she will get an English visa should help.
Send plenty of information with the application, work details and holiday details, preliminary flight reservation, where and with whom you will be staying.
Can't think of anything else. Good luck.
Thanks Tayto for your response its very much appreciated. Its good to here from a fellow Irish man.
She has everything together now to apply for UK visa so she will send it in this Tuesday. Hopefully beacause her company sponsor her it will not take too much time if we are lucky.
I'm going to visit her end of October and will bring all my details so that she can submit everything with application for irish Visa.
She is due to travel to the Uk in November . I was thinking she would be better to wait until after she visits and returns from the UK before submitting application for Irish visa at least that way they can see that she travelled and returned
What would you recommend ?
If we fail to get Irish Visa by Christmas I was going to get her to travel to Belfast and at leaset I can stay with her in Newry or somewhere close to be border. I'm from just south of the border anyway. Is there any problems with her getting into
Belfast on the UK Visa I presme not .
Thanks again Tayto for the response we scraped a result out of Cyprus last night it was not pretty.

Visa For My Wife's Niece
in Visas and migration to other countries
Posted
My wife and I are happly married and living in Ireland.
My wife's niece who is 14 is living with my wife's parents in Thailand.
We would like to bring her to Ireland for her education.
What's the best way to achieve this ?
To start we have applied and got her a holiday visa so she can come and visit.
Get used to the weather the language and the culture.
Can my wife takeover custody of her niece obviously with approval from her own mother ?
How would this be handled in Thailand?
What are the chances of getting her a visa for Ireland ?
All help and advice would be very welcome.
Thanks
