All depends on your bargaining power, if you are good at it
you will get it cheaper, always better to buy it in your name,
your paying for it and things can change.

Yes, thanks, we have been married living in NZ for 12 years, just wanting to spend more than the usual 3 months per year up there, perhaps 6-8 months per year, any condo we buy up there would be a very small proportion of what property we own in NZ, sounds like it is worth looking into????????

Cheaper. Thai name you cannot sell to a farang (unless the foreign quota is below 49%). Farang quota is always more expensive as it can be sold to a larger group of potential buyers.
Thanks, so if I have thai wife I could probably buy a condo a little cheaper if it gives in her name in thai title?

Is it cheaper to buy a condo in a Thai name the a foreign name?

My thai wife and I are planning to go to Thailand soon, all the reading I have done says that thai nationals do not need insurance and in certain cases quarantine is free.
have noticed that a lot of outfits giving information are very forward about selling insurance, I think it’s a scam....there’s a surprise????

Thanks Fritz, yes I do have my return ticket out of Thsiland 22 August, guess I need to be careful to not fly back in to early ...allowing for only the 30 days?
thsnks

Thanks Elvia....sorry , yes 30 not 28?
i am happy to be able to hang out in Vientiane for a couple of weeks for a change.
Am I correct in thinking that if I do the trip by air that I will get 30 more days and only 15 days by land.
i have a return ticket with a departure date of August 22.
thanks

Hi,
I am on holiday in Thailand from New Zealand.
As I am here for 10 weeks and I assume I will need to leave before my 28 days expires and then come back with less than 28 days before my flight back to NZ.
Am I correct in thinking that I need to come back by air to get another 28 days as by land crossing is only 15 days?
i was think of going to Laos for a couple of weeks by air to make it work, does this make sense or is there a flaw in my plan?
cheers for any advice

Hope Thailand is not being fooled into hanging around with a bad crowd instead of taking faster steps to install democracy...it's not a good look for Thailand
-
Good thinking, I can see you have put a lot of thought into it?
-
It's a shame that the Thai govt does not feel secure enough to not to have to associate with scum?

Thong lorn...
I wasn't.....if you read it again you will se that I was talking about the company that employs him......these companies must be forced to start taking responsibility for their employees and the public they take the money from....DONT KNOW WHY THEY ARE NOT INVESTIGATED WHEN THESE ACCIDENTS SEEM TO HAPPEN AD INFINITUM
-
Oops.....
Now will there be an investigation into the company who employed the driver, an investigation about how much sleep had and the company safety policy about drivers working hours/ sleep... Will the company get prosecuted and. Possibly put out of business if found guilty....that's when road safety will start to improve

Was renting a condo in Riverside Condo's last month for 10,000...met a guy in the lift who said he had bought 2 condo's, said it was the worst mistake he ever made, due to low demand for condo's, could not rent them
Be careful, do the figures, take advice(from the right people)...make sure you account for ALL COSTS..if you cant rent it...you are losing..
I would be more interested in looking at where Russians own alot of condos...could be some bargains coming up as they are going to really struggle to service the loans soon;-)

Up until a week or two ago...he may have been correct..if he had said that..but for the Russkies sitting at home freezing because they cant afford heating and looking at their travel plans to Pattaya or Phuket....they will be realising that getting in to a drucken stupor there is going to be to expensive..so maybe their travel money should just be spent on trying tom afford enough food and heating to stay alive
..and I am really going to miss them

As soon as Russia invaded Crimea ....and the west said there would be sanctions...I predicted it
-
Pressure on independent media intensified this year as the Kremlin sought to unify the country behind the annexation of Crimea and Russia's involvement in eastern Ukraine.
