  1. Hello to everyone here.

I hope someone here can make things a bit clearer on the best chances of my wife getting a UK settlement visa.

Right now having already read a lot I am even more in doubt on exactly how to go about things.

    Anyways here goes our case.

I am UK born n bred and have been living in Thailand full-time for 8 or so years with just one brief visit back to Blighty about 4 years ago.

I have been with my wife for 3 years in total almost 1 of those years as legally married here in Thailand.

My wife is heavily pregnant with our first who is due on the end of this month.

My first problem lies with sponsorship. I have no job or savings (I know what a catch I am), so not gonna be me.

If we go back we will be staying with my parents (hopefully).

My folks in the UK own their house but are on government benefits. Will it be possible for them to act as sponsors?

If it is what exactly will be required of them? How much monies would be needed by them to be able to do this?

This will be the first of undoubtedly many questions to come, so my many thanks to any help in advance. :D

  2. If the guys head was put in a plastic bag and the bag tied up, how on earth is there blood spatter all over the bridge??????

The guy obviously put a bag over his head put the rope over the bag and around his neck, jumped from the bridge, his weight pulling the rope around his neck severing the head from the body. The body falls into the river and the head is hanging from the bridge with the rope around the plastic bag. Simple.

why the plastic bag then sherlock?

i read another news article that the head was clearly severed with a sharp object, not a ripping off from a free fall

I read another article that said torn.

You would think it would be pretty obvious if the head was either cut from the body or ripped. But the police have already ruled out suicide so who knows??

I don't know Watson. Who the hel_l knows what's going through the head of a guy about to commit suicide. Wanted to make sure I guess. But I am no mind reader.

  5. ^I've just done the whole 90sec reset thing again, holding down the reset button with a pin removing the power cable and re-inserting.

I have set it up again manually without the CD. VPI @ 0, VCI @ 33, QoS disabled (default) MTU 1492 (wouldnt let me set to 1496), DHCP Enabled.

    So fingers crossed.......

  6. ^ I hadn't seen that actual thread before but I had tried the 90 second reset thing I found at another forum with people having the same problems.

The general consensus on that thread was to get a new different modem/router thingy.

Not exactly what I want to do as I made a special trip to Bangkok to get the thing in the first place.

I figured someone might already be using one of these 'gateways' on a TT&T line here and has it working.

If not I suppose it'll have to be returned and changed.

  7. Hey Techie Bods,

I brought a new Linksys WAG200G ADSL wireless modem/router for home (TT&T line, premier account) but the thing loses its connection with the internet (DSL and internet lights go off) and it cannot reconnect (to the internet).

When first turned on no problems finding the connection all the lights on, all good, wireless working, then usually 20-30 minutes later it loses the connection and cannot reconnect. I have to unplug the thing (no switch) and turn it back on again, this sometimes works sometimes don't.

This happens if the wireless is disabled, if I am downloading (torrents), surfing or if it is doing nothing at all.

The connection using my old modem that came from TT&T has no problems whatsoever so should be something to do with the new one.

I set the thing up with the installation disk that came with it.

I have been searching around alot, I have updated to the latest firmware and checked my optimal ping rate thing (dont know) but it was 1430 and changed the MTU settings to that, but still no joy.

Anybody here have a similar experience and know what to do? Or any really intelligent people who know what might solve this?

They seem like a popular choice here so hopefully they cant all be bad. Please help before I break the thing. :D:o:D

  8. MISSING GOLDEN RETRIEVER DOG

WENT MISSING 25/09/07 ABOUT 5.00PM WHEN IT WAS RAINING.

Male dog, 1 year old Name: Leo

Leo was wearing a canvas dark orange coloured collar with pics of cartoon dogs on it and a bell.

I have 2 dogs they both went for their daily walkabout from my home in Phetchkasem Soi 33 about 4pm 25 September 2007. They got a bit adventurous and wondered quite far. Only one came back.

From what i can gather from asking around is that they were both seen near the CALTEX petrol station just past Index Living Mall coming towards town.

I have been told that 2 Thai guys were paying some interest in the golden retriever (my other dog is a Bangkaew) he may have been injured, he wasn't before he left but someone I asked remembered him limping.

Have you seen a golden retriever dog wondering around or has someone you know or live near who didn't previously own a fully grown golden retriever acquired one recently.

Please message me or leave a reply if you have any information.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    James

  9. I have woxter media player. - - http://www.woxter.com/contenido/productos2...a=22&id=207

It takes a 3.5 hard drive upto 500Gb. I brought mine in Fortune town on the Ratchadaphisek Rd, MRTA Phra Ram 9 Station.

I have a 320Gb Harddrive for 4000Bt and the media player was 3000Bt.

There are cheaper smaller alternatives to this one but they do not have the LCD display and no controls on the player itself only from the remote control.

It plays all Mpeg video and music, divx, avi and wmv. A friend of mine who has been busy downloading movies brought over a similar media player with around 300Gb of movies, over 300 movies in total and some music which has been keeping me from buying dvds.

All in all a great unit, I have not used my DVD player or watched TV since I got it.

  10. I uninstalled Photoshop CS2 and installed my old CS and voila all my Thai fonts are working again.

It just never occurred to me that a new version of a program might be less functional in ways than the previous versions. funny eh

I've been an Adobe man forever but am going to give the coreldraw a go to see how it matches up.

Smithson, Thanks for the help, I have some Thai fonts that you are welcome to have, some of which are hand written style but not many such as JS Siriumas, JS Tinaas, JS Toomatas, DS FreeHandas and DS FreeJackas. PM me and i'll send em to you if you want?

    Byee :o

  11. Here is the font (hopefully) as an attachment.

    Here goes..............................

Nope that did't work. What exactly does that 'File Attachments' thing do then?

If anyone would like to help out and get a free nice looking thai font in the bargin PM me and i'll send the font to you instead.

    Thanks

  12. Hello helpful techie bods,

I just cannot get my nice looking thai fonts to work in any program. I would like to be using them in Photoshop CS2 and have had them working before but have since reinstalled Windows XP Professional SP2 and upgraded to Photoshop CS2 from CS. And now the bloody things won't work.

I can type in thai (า่้หกห่มกา่ก) and see thai but the fonts I would like to be using just are not working, coming up with ???? instead of characters. I have had these fonts working before but for the life of me now cannot remember how. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! Sorry it has been alittle frustrating today.

The name of the font I would like to be using is a truetype font PSL Panpilasas I will attempt to attach it to another post so that one of you could install the font and attempt using it and let me know how you get on.

I have tried altering most of the settings in the 'regional and language options' to no avail, but maybe I am just missing something really obvious. Please help before I do something drastic and do irreparable damage to my machine.

    Thanks :D:o:D:D

  13. Hi,

I am flying into Chiang Rai and am going onto Mae Sai to renew my visa.

The last time I did this i ended up taking an airport taxi into town where i then got a bus upto Mae Sai.

I have heard that there are buses that pass the airport that go to Mae Sai.

Can anyone let me know if this is true?

And some idea of how frequent these buses are (if they do exist) would be very useful too.

    thanks. :o

  14. Hi,

    Thanks for the info guys.

I just got back, stayed in the floatel (a house divided into 4 rooms floating on the river).

They have a website: Amporn Floatel

Nice place, basic rooms but with a great balcony equipped with nice seats and cushions with great views over the river (very relaxing). Also just 5 mins walk from the night market which has loads of different foods on offer.

I rented a motorbike for 250bt per day and went to alot of the Wats/prang ruin places.

To be be honest 1 or 2 days is enough of seeing what ends up alot of the same thing. Nice all the same though. :o

  15. Hi,

I am looking into going to Ayutthaya for a bit of relaxation and sightseeing.

I would like to stay somewhere not to far from the attractions but somewhere where i can have a seat, relax preferably a balcony overlooking something serene and nice like the river for example, somewhere I can chill. I would rather guesthouse bungalow type accommodation rather than hotels.

Some recomendations would be good of actual guesthouses or a general area to stay in.

    Can you rent motorbikes there?

Also any recommendations on things not to be missed whilst there.

    Thanks alot in advance. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/style_images...icons/icon1.gif
