  1. Paypal ATM card.

Only available to very few people using paypal in Thailand:

The PayPal Debit Card is available to users who:

    * Have a U.S. PayPal account

    * Have been a PayPal member for at least 60 days

    * Registered a credit card where the monthly statement is sent to a physical street address (not a P.O. box)

    * Are Verified (completed PayPal's Verification process)

    * Have upgraded to a Premier or Business account

    * Are an active PayPal member in good standing, as determined by our Account Review Department

So basically only Americans, or others with a physical address in the US!

Ok then, I didn't realize that... So if you can get it go for it, if not then follow the advice of the other posters.

I am a Thai and using Paypal account with eBay.

First you have add your debit card (or credit card) OR even your be1st card with eBay Paypal then you've to wait for 3-5 working day then make a call to 02 6455555 or 1333 <--- for Bangkok Bank until you can get the operator on your line, inform him/her that you are waiting for your paypal code then operator will transfer your line to the machine again , the machine will ask you to press 16 digits on your card and after that the machine also will ask you to press your 4 digits pin code then operator will come back to you to confirm that you are the real owner of that account then she will give you a paypal code thats it AND you have to use the paypal code to verify your paypal account and you can start send or receive the money straight away.

Thats from my experienced and its not difficult at all.

perhaps a long shot but worth asking nevertheless... i am looking to find an apartment/condo for long-term rental (6 months, 1 year) in Bangkok in the next couple of months, preferably somewhere around the Sathorn/Silom area but would consider any nice place that wasn't too far flung...

my wife is japanese, and it would be most welcome to find a rental property that came pre-furnished in tradtional japanese style (or a reasonable facsimile of!)... low tables and tatami mats over nice wooden floors already in proper place would be very a welcome find for us; decent television and/or stereo in place would also be a perk. a nice patio, terrace or garden area would also be very nice to find.

i'm hoping to find somewhere at or under the price of 70,000bht monthly w/ the signing of a lease, and availability of high-speed internet is a *must-have*.

any pointers or input would be most welcome, thx in advance and a wonderful weekend to all..!

    :o  :D  :D

  4. How old is your gf? Did she has a job? Dont just believe what the agent said those ppl just wanted your money only . I applied student visa 3 times and fight with those officer at us embassy(for the right) finally I got 5 years student visa. If you're very serious with your gf Why dont you apply Fiancee visa for her?

You also can make a second request letter and go try again with your gf, US embassy is the POS one, they just wanted you to provides all the right documents and show them all at the 1st place.

    Good Luck!

  5. Only 2 months and they willing to pay 60,000thb/month ....I will advice them to stay at Servive apartment like "Center Point" whichs they got 5 branch around Bangkok, they have everythings you need ...gym, sauna, internet and maid service included!

    Go Check it out :D

I've got some relatives coming into town for a month and I'm starting my search for decent accommodation for them. They're on a working vacation (He works while the wife and daughter take in the sites) so they've got a decent amount of cash to spend (60,000 baht for rent for the month.)

Any suggestions on nice 'Farang Ghetto' seviced apartments or hotels that might fit the bill (2 bedrooms, two bathrooms)?

Nothing near my beloved Nana please, the daughter in question is a pristine young college student of Korean decent and probably wouldn't appreciate the attention. :o

  6. Hi There

The Best area for your family would be >>>Ratchadamri, Sathorn and Sukhumvit area. My boyfriend is also british and he deals with Bangkok intenational Prep school and he could also introduce you to the headmaster yet another brit!!!

    best wishes

    cynthia

ps. I have 3 bedroom condos available but no houses all the condos have swimming pool and othe facilities - can send pics!

Myself, wife and 3 kids (10, 8 and 6) will be moving to Bangkok from Singapore in 2006.  We are Brits.

And of course we have lots of questions.

The most of important of which is which area do we live in? I will be working in the central business area, I believe the office is on the Skytrain route.  The kids will go to an international school, preferably the British curriculum. I dont mind a long travel journey to and from work if I really have to - the kids schooling and proximity is more important. The school is undecided as present.

My company will give a good housing allowance. Will be looking for a 4+ bed house, preferably 5 with pool. Don't mind shared compound but single would be preferred. Driver and car will be supplied as well.

So which areas should I be looking at?....

  7. Hi,

I move to Bangkok early next year or maybe already sometime in December.

I would like to know a good area to stay that is not too far away from silom (max 15 min with taxi in normal traffic) and where i might get a nice place for 20 - 30 000 Baht. (fully furnished and with adsl or direct phone line that i can get my own adsl).

It should be a 1 or 2 bedroom appartment (50qm+) that is somehow quiet (as quiet as possible for Bangkok lol).

  8. Remit to your own bank 1st then if everythings is ok you going to pay them after that.

Its no risky if you do it this way!

    Warm Regards

    Cynthia

Has anybody bought near Sathorn Bridge at 'Baan Sathorn Chao Phraya'? If, so I'd be interested to know how you transfered funds from overseas - ie to your bank first or directly to the company's bank. It takes a lot of 'messing around' out of the equation to send to their bank account direct but is that risky? What did you do? My place is completed and the building is 98 per cent ready. What would you do - remit funds to your own bank first and do all the leg work or remit funds to the developer's bank and let them do all the leg work?

  9. Hi There

[email protected] or just reply to this email.

First time in BKK for 6-7 days with my super hyperactive 2 y/o.

I have searched the forums and checked out a few places. Some hotels, some serviced apartments. Budget wise, I'm not fussed, although I definitely cannot afford Banyan Tree-ish room rates, and I would prefer the following to be fulfilled:

    - Walking distance to BTS

    - High speed internet access (that's for me :D)

    - Swimming pool

    - Have or near playgrounds/ entertainment and exercise for a 2 y/o toddler

    - 3-5 star room facilities (a/c, cable TV, hot shower, room service or kitchenette, etc.)

Child-friendly is the word I guess. I'm a bit nervous although my son has travelled with me a fair bit (but usually to friend's/ families').

Thanks in advance for your recommendations :o
