I think ANYONE who willingly pays those prices in Thailand, no matter what the bloody seafood is, is a fool or has way too much more money than sense, unlike most of us who live here for various reasons one of which is that we can afford to live here rather than rip off UK and particularly as pensioners.

This is one huge rip off indeed. The most I have ever paid for a meal for 4 of us, yes including sea foods and drinks too, is about 1800 Baht and that I cringe at here in Thailand. Normally for a really good very filling meal here just for me with a beer at a nice air con local restaurant or UK pub style bar, costs me around 300 to 400 Baht. Mostly that is also for more expensive farang food too, as I am not a lover of a lot of Thai food because I cannot personally ever eat garlic or onion in food (maybe I am a vampire !!). Thai food without those two for me horrid ingredients can be very nice and I especially do at times enjoy hot food, or "Pet" as they call it here. I for though love most good English food like fIsh'n'chips (Cod or Haddock best),full roast sunday dinner, nice sirloin or fillet steak with Baked Potato and veggies, Toad in the Hole, English sausage and mash. All the food I love and was brought up on as a kid and young adult .

Sad to hear that you cannot afford a really good restaurant..

I have eaten far more expensive food than this, both in Bangkok and in other big cities!

The article states the air bags deployed,,, with modern cars, (esp a MB I'd guess),,,, it's as simple as plugging it into a dealers service computer, and the CAR'S computer, will tell you exactly the speed at impact, the angle of the impact,, were the brakes being applied, how strongly, etc, etc,,, BUT,,, will anyone investigating this bother to see that through?...

Nonsense, car's computers are not "black boxes", their purpose is to control the operation of the vehicle not provide accident related information.

Just a bit of advice, treat motorcycles/scooters like dogs(I ride and hate a lot of riders) because you never know what they will do at any second, never assume they will go straight or turn. Pay attention when you drive, no texting, no cellphone, no BJ, just drive.

I just wonder what the police really do as part of their job ? It looks like nothing regarding the law gets done correctly without the military playing the lead rule. I travel by taxi 2 - 4 times each day and I guess about 40% refuse to take me to my destination.

I used to open the rear door and leave it open if they refused to take me. Nowadays they tend to open the front side window. I slowly open the front door, clear my throat and tell them rather slowly and clearly where I want to go. If thye refuse I try and ask why and take as long as possible before I close the door.

The cars behind become very impatient, but what the heck. I have to wait for the next taxi.

Soemtimes I am amazed as to why they say no. Often the road they are on will lead to my destination and they may well pass that area without picking up a fare.

I don't know how much forensic testing Thais can do. Just as important, I don't know how much they will do.
