Personally, I'm not gonna ever give any false information but I'll be cautious as to what information I provide as one of these days I might decide to become a criminal.

Public profiling..... this is non of their business.... Immigration concentrates only on the validity of documents, background checks with those documents with the authorities back home, who have the competency to answer any question related to the person. They have no need for social information, with whom one associates, hangs out or plans to go. In Germany a country that knows much about this profiling and abusing...under nazism and also the STASI in the Eastern block. People are not obliged to give their ID or copies of it to people who have nothing to do with the law. Even Banks will not disclose any information of a person unless parties have agreed with each other. Prying into personal life is not vouched for every tom dick and harry, who is looking to find a reason to make a case.

Foreigners recognise your rights you are only obliged to give details of where you are staying and how long you have stamped on your travel document. The rest is not anyones business. They cannot control their own lot...let alone follow up on the local crimes, they are thinking of international.....Good luck

Foreigners seem to forget who they are in Thailand. They are "FOREIGNERS" and not THAI. If one wants to be a a country other than your own,

comply with the Laws and Regulations of that Country or leave and go back home !

Nigerians again ! No Surprise there. Wherever they go they are involved in Crime of some sort. They are now even unwanted guests in most of the Countries In Africa. !! They just bring trouble with them . They have been responsible for destroying hundreds of thousands of lives with their DRUG Cartels too. Save Thailand from these thugs ! Once they get a foothold, it is just tragedy that will follow. Most of these Criminals are DANGEROUS.!Ask the people of Africa, they will tell you all about these thugs.!

Thousands have been scammed in our Country by Nigerians ! They are 99% involved in Illegal activities in any Country they are permitted entry into..Never mind the Drug Lords ! IMMIGRATION should take note.!

You friend will need a return ticket, the letter from the Employer in Thailand and Proof of his Qualifications, a Completed Visa Application form and Photo etc. Unless he can actually provide his ACTUAL Work Permit from the Thai Authorities presented here to the Thai Embassy during application for his Visa , he will have to have a return airticket and proof he can support himself in Thailand for the duration of the Visa.. Without the valid Visa, the Airline will also not BOARD him/her on a way one Ticket.

I suggest he/she contacts the Embassy before application by E Mail advising them of all the details. BUT A return ticket is necessary. I would also ensure that the Passport is still valid for a few years, take along record/letter of Previous employer, Proof of address/family in South Africa and Bank Statements showing sufficient funds for own support as there is not confirmed fully paid Accommodation Vouchers to present when applying for the Visa.. Getting a job offer and only a letter is not the same as having a Legal Work Permit.Also a job offer at a Restaurant will not be considered in the same light as a OFFICIAL job CONFIRMATION offer from a Reputable Hotel Chain such as Hyatt/Sheraton, Dusit Thani Group in Thailand. RESTAURANTS close down all the time. The embassy will also check the Restaurant via Authorities in Bangkok. Unfortunately, there has been abuse by Visa Applicants from various Countries having just Letters from some contact in Thailand to get

Visas for long stay and the job does not pan out and NO Work Permit guaranteed. Thai Authorities are wise to this and job offers are very thoroughly investigated. Hope this helps.
