  1. OP, do as much training as you can and do not listen to the detractors.....

you do your CSWIP 3.1 at the TWI, There is one in thailand at chomburi,

but you have to have welding supervision on your cv to stand a chance of even doing the course,

the course is 5 days the 5th day being all exams,

but if you havnt got welding and supervision they wont let you do the course, well they wont in the uk, but my thinking is the TWI Is the TWI anywere in the world run by the same rules,

its a hard course, believe me, and like i say i was a welder, some of the things i new, but a lot i didnt,

some times they might let you do the 3.0 that is just visual inspection if you have a little welding or supervision just to try and get you up to speed, you would have to ask at the TWI, Thats the welding institute by the way,

you could contact them and ask them, but there is loads of inspectors about now, thai and many indians, we had loads of indians in angola, to be honest most arent very good but they are cheeper then us, and they can still sign off,

    good luck

  2. I would never order a drink from you if you are really a bartender......I can just see your typical interaction, "Gin, tonic, sir? Sorry did you want alcohol with that?" absolutely brainless!

silly response....what if it is not on any of those channels...have you actually seen a listing that shows the game listed, or have you seen one of the other games on one of these channels....or are your just guessing?

Just flick though them till you find it would be the obvious answer , sport channels usually around 32/33/34

You asked what channel, not if it was on or not, i responded by telling you the sports channel numbers

  4. saw one of the canon ones in the 1700-1800 baht range at the office supply shop near homeworks big c south pattaya

Not sure why people cannot just respond instead of asking a bunch of additional questions.

I have repeated the key words below in bold bullet points in case the OP was too difficult.

    • scanner
    • cheap
    • best deals
    • where
    • thanks

No where does it say anything about printers etc.

Your 3000 baht price is also way off, but muchas gracias to Don Mega for providing some useful information in his response.

    What is cheap?

    Special needs/specifications required?

Otherwise I can only join the crowd:

an A4 laser printer/scanner cost about 3000 or less.

The printer part does not eat money if you don't use it.

And you still have a printer backup that does not "dry out".

    Very reliable.

    Available: everywhere.

  5. I find this extremely racist and disturbing....

Watch out, your reference to Scottish, makes this post borderline racist.

    <deleted>

I'm writing from first hand experience.

I did think about that but we Scots take enormous pride in the fact that copper wire was invented when two Aberdonians fought over a penny, ho, ho, ho.

Seriously. Germans use the expression "Scottish prices" routinely. We just to take great pride in our Calvinist dourness. There's actually a "Little book of Calvin", full of joys such as, "Aye, we'll be deid soon".

how we English are looking forward to that day.

  6. I don't agree. I love Cuban food.

The vast majority of Cubans complete lack the culinary gene. Though I have been to a few paladars in Havana that served good food, for the most part the food in Cuba is absolutely horrendous. Worse than in the Philippines, buy far. Atrocious. Horrific. Abominable.

I have to agree....this other guy claiming to love it has obviously never been there....

I'm American, so no, I've not been there.

I have eaten Cuban food in Miami and at Cuban restaurants popular with Cuban Americans in other U.S. cities.

I have known Cuban people who migrated to the U.S. and attend parties hosted by them with their home cooked food.

Dudes, that is Cuban food, and it is often quite delicious and tasty.

Oddly, perhaps my favorite dish is rather simple, YUCCA CON MOJO, steamed yucca with the garlic spice sauce. I love yucca.

Cuban black beans cooked by an expert Cuban cook ... heavenly.

The Cubans I knew in the U.S. were certainly not culinary retards ... they were generally PASSIONATE about good food, and not only Cuban food.

I have also traveled in the Dominican Republican where I could tell has a similar food culture as Cuba.

I enjoyed some of the food there, but not as much as the best Cuban food I've had in the U.S.

There is no doubt that Cuba has suffered in recent decades for political/economic reasons so I presume that did impact on the food availability there, perhaps making the food culture degrade.

If the argument is that it's not food served in Cuba then it's not Cuban food, I reject that premise 100 percent.

If people are saying that the Cuban food served IN CUBA is awful, I'll really have to take your word for it.

But Anthony Bourdain recently did a show there, and he seemed to be able to find some wonderful Cuban food IN CUBA, so maybe those who say it all sucked just didn't care enough to FIND IT THERE.

As far as moving there to live, for the food or otherwise, that doesn't really interest me at all. I can see a visit to check out the scene and architecture before the Yankee invasion ruins it all.

I personally would not place any credence on anything a food hack like Bourdain has to say, but what is interesting is the very strong opinions on Cuban food (mostly negative) if you google it....

    eg. http://www.wbez.org/blog/achy-obejas/2011-07-22/what-anthony-bourdain-didnt-tell-you-about-cuban-food-89518

OTOH, who knows maybe opening the place up will inspire a gastro-revolution.....

I have actually never heard of any world class Caribbean cusine and in general most islands worldwide seem to be lacking in the gastro-department, with a few exceptions such as Sri Lanka, Singapore, Japan.....any outside Asia? Not sure!

  7. Sorry, not following...I thought you were the guy recommending this master, and now you are questioning the credentials????

^^^^, LOL, great stuff, can only assume you guys are new to this part of the world.

There was a thread on here not so long back, some estate agent had signs in his window saying he was a member of X Y and Z association, a quick google check revelead, there were no such orginistaions in Thailand.

Welcome to Asia, see the teacher forum for details, I have it on good authority, Fillipinos leave school at age 20 with Uni degrees.

KSR abounds with fake qualificaions, want a NSW drivers license, no ploblem sir, 200 baht ok.

  8. sounds highly qualified and competent....can you provide more information on this PHD granting institution and under which jurisdiction there are issuing university level PHD degrees? thanks.

2002 – October 1st awarded the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN MARTIAL ARTS (Ph.D.MA.) by the WORLD ORGANIZER OF MARTIAL ARTS (WOMA) International Council of Higher Martial Arts Education, signed by Prof. M.I. Tianero Ph.D.MA. – recognized by the International Society of Philosophy, lecturer & certified World Grandmaster.

This is the master I speak of,

    http://www.geocities.ws/eskrido1996/eskrido_files/founder.html

I trained alongside the USAF in Saudi.

Brilliant comment...I would also like to see some due diligence here.....who are these degree granting institutions and who are the people signing off....

  9. Define Cuban food and I do not mean Havana Club, mojitos or cigars...

Have you ever actually been there? We are talking about Cuban food in Cuba and not an overseas place?

    I don't agree. I love Cuban food.

    Ok..
Having spent a lot of time on the island I can say that best cuban food is served in Miami.

    Some cuban food I love.
But Cubans do not make spicy food..
    Actually the complete opposite.
  10. LOL, once read a CR travel blog where the guy complained that everyday he had rice and beans for breakfast, beans and rice for lunch, and mixed rice and beans for dinner..... has anyone ever seen a CR restaurant anywhere in the world(outside CR)?

Venezuela? Where you could get robbed, shot, kidnapped, killed or all of the above in one afternoon? OP can't be serious.

The only country in that part of the world worth poking about in is Costa Rica. Look it up. And ticas are babes. Look that up too.

Costa Rican food ... most boring and bland on the planet. Latin America without the spice. You can keep it.

  11. The Barra de Navidad sounds a wee bit like soi Buakhao in Pattaya....

You know, I'm not so sure it matters that much where you decide to stay. You will pick some place where you feel some comfort and safety. What you do after you have parked your butt is more important.

Several years ago I was wandering down Mexico'a west coast and ended up in San Patricio. Nice little city, a bit rough around the edges, and it had a very small but active expat community. They were actively exploring the unique features of Jalisco culture.

I got in the habit of a morning beach walk to the next town for an early lunch. Now this is highly NOT recommended at night but I always felt safe during the day. As I walked through Barra de Navidad (the next town) I kept seeing unkempt, unshaven expat barflys working their way through their morning bottle of ... Mescal seemed to be favored. It seemed like each bar had their own pet expat barfly.

There it was, the positive and the negative of epat living side by side. I"m sure you could put that scene almost anywhere in the world. There are expat communities almost everywhere. It doesn't matter where you are (if you are somewhere you want to be). Your time is the most important thing you have left to spend.

    Sorry for the meander

  12. Am guessing this is a troll post, but anyway will bite......Pattaya has lots of great food at great prices....also some fantastic beaches....try Koh larn or further south towards Bang Sare, Sattahip....tons of sporting options as well....or you could stay in your hotel room and complain on a web forum.
