I've never seen one in Thai shops   they are still available in  UK but getting harder to find

I wouldn't trust my luck ordering  from overseas ( except maybe hong kong/china)

maybe something like this would work  ?

I am definitely going to check this out.......... thank you for your suggestion ! ! !

Plenty available on eBay, but I am sure you could find one in a Thai second hand shop / pawn broker

That is a good idea about the 2nd hand shops.

The ones I find on Ebay, Lazada, and other online shop is that the input is IR.......... or camera,,,,,,,,,, for security purposes.

Thank you for your suggestions ! ! !

  3. I have been trying to find a Digital Video Recorder.  My old Phillips 3590 has given up.

I like the ability to pause/play/fast forward live tv.

I bought a new LG Smart TV hoping to solve the problem, but no luck with that.

There is certain web content (legal, I assume) that I like to pause/fast forward/rewind,,,, etc.

Anybody know where I can find a DVR ??

  4. Pib,,,,,Thank you for the info on UPS,

I suspected it might be something like that. Forgot to mention that i had to drive for 2 hours to get to the

customs office to register as an importer. HUH ??

The Power Bank I bought was 3,266 baht. Import Duty was 631 baht. UPS wanted 5200 baht in "fees".

I'm curious to know who ended up with my Power Bank.

  5. Beware of Ebay. I've used Ebay for years with no problems - then last month got scammed by a Chinese seller/Ebay/United Parcel Service.

I believe that most of the fault rests with UPS. So far I am out 100 US Dollars,

On a "Free Shipping" item, UPS demanded nearly US $200 to release my purchase. Most of it was UPS "fees",,,,,, including "overtime".

    Watch out for UPS.

  6. I would NOT use UPS.

They are in the process of extorting double the price of what i paid for a power bank....... US $100.00.

UPS wants nearly $200 to release it to me. That is not customs duty........... that was only 631 baht.

The above was for a recent Ebay purchase.

I may be through with Ebay, now.

BEWARE of United Parcel Service ! ! !

  7. Thank you all for the great suggestions.

This morning I connected the drain pipe to my super suction wet/dry vacuum.

It pulled about a quarter cup of mossy sludge from the pipe and fitting and pan.

In the future, i am going to treat it will a bleach solution.

  8. The hose drain is connected to the drip pan with a strange elbow type fitting.

This fitting is in a very in-accessible place. It is getting clogged with what i

assume is moss or whatever is growing on the bottom of the pan.

A drain snake gets hung up in this crazy fitting.

Any suggestions on what i could clean it with ? It is about a three quarter hole and fitting.......

    and VERY difficult to reach.

  9. Seems like you are off to a good start.

We did the same thing.......... 2 Dogs from San Francisco to Bangkok.

I did an overkill on the paperwork. A copy of each document for myself, one for Vet/Health Authority at the airport, one copy EACH in a plastic

folder attached to the top of each kennel.

When the officer asks where the dogs will be quarantined,,,,,,,,,,, reply: At my home.

Double check the paperwork requirements on the website for Thai Health,,,,, to make certain that you have everything. Do not cut corners.

The officials at the airport were VERY helpful and got us through right away.

    Good luck ! ! !

  10. For anyone still following this original post,,,,,,,,,, the problem has been found.

Just like Crossy said,,,,,,,,,,,,,, it might be a water heater............. it was.

A seldom used water heater was the culprit.

I thought that just opening the breaker would isolate this as the problem.

Thank you for all the responses. I learned a LOT.

This forum has been very good for me.

    Thank you all............

    Bob

  11. I took a careful look inside the distribution unit......... looking for a fault between the neutral and the ground.

    Look what I found.

This white wire was cut by a very sharp edge of he distribution unit. It looks as though the worn or cut part did not

get completely to the copper........... but about half way through to the copper.

  12. Well......... I am learning a lot.

Back to weather related causes........... I have an outlet (see photo) that is below a window that leaks water every time there is a rainstorm with wind. See the towel and mop

    next to it ??

I took it apart - and it is very damp. I will disable this outlet.

Could this be the cause, even tho this circuit is open - no electricity to it from the central supply ?

  13. OK.......... Now i am a little red faced. Partly from anger and partly from embarrassment. I have lived in this condo for 10 years and have been REPEATEDLY assured that there is a proper ground - earth.

Today, I demanded to see it with my own 2 eyes. The manager and engineer slowly told me that there is NO ground - earth wire. They do not see the need and will not install one.

You had better believe that I am going to get one installed before the week is up.

This may solve my original problem, right ??

  14. Have you tried the sensitivity setting at a lower setting such as 20ma? Maybe the 30ma setting (if that is the upper setting...I can't make it out from the pictures) is defective/oversensitive. Maybe even rotate the sensitivity setting back and forth several times through it's complete range in case the switch is dirty/corroded.

Thank you............. I have tried all the different settings. Same problem.

By leaving it to DIRECT am i losing all benefit of the interrupter ???

  15. I have looked in this forum for this topic and cannot find my problem.

Enclosed, 2 photos of the Ground Fault Interrupter and the Distribution Unit itself.

With all the breakers open - no power to any circuit or to any line the Ground Fault (black) Bar will trip.

It does the same for all circuits or some of the circuits closed.

It may take 3 hours or 3 days but the bar will trip, cutting off all electricity.

Makes no difference if any combination is opened or closed.

I do not at all like the idea of turning the sensitivity selector to "Direct".

Any ideas on what I should do ?

By the way, I had a Thai electrician look at it and he said that maybe something was "in the air".

  16. Good for you. Our experience has been completely opposite.

The service worked well for several weeks,,,,, then started degrading.

It is still degrading and some days i am doing well if i can get 20KB/s.

And yes, we have made the usual complaints and have received the usual excuses.

Seven of us in this condo block signed up - and it was expensive.

We wish we had stayed with ADSL.
