  1. I know it is not wine, but look up how to make turbo cider and brew your own ready to drink in 3-5 days, and be very tasty and quite strong. Even in Australia we make it for around $1-2 a litre.

Basically get apple juice or similar (pasteurised), add some sugar and yeast (champagne or cider yeast available on-line is best but granulated bread yeast will do at a pinch), warm dark place for 3-5 days with the lid not on too tight and then in the fridge to let the yeast settle.

  2. So just another option for anyone who might want to consider a Thai life but still have good income and downstream options.

Move to Perth in Western Australia and get a fly in fly out job in the oil and gas industry, if you are lucky you can get 2 weeks on 2 weeks off and maybe $150k AUD a year. If you already have directly relevant skills this can pay a lot more.

If you are not so lucky you might get 8 days on 6 days off in a mining job and $100k AUD a year.

If you are really lucky there is some on a 2 on, 2 off, 2 on, 4 off roster. I also hear some are now becoming open to job sharing for half time half pay. That could be 10 weeks a year or 2 weeks every 2.5 months of work for $70-80k AUD or more a year.

Perth Bangkok direct on the Dreamliner is a bit over 7 hours and $800 -1100 return, at times you can get it down to as little as $350 not direct.

Do this for a while, you won't be able to spend all you earn so can try it out and save/invest while you have the best of both worlds.

See how it goes and then decide if to live there full time later.

If you can't see the difference between forex & crypto, you should not be trading.  There are virtually no similarities between the two.  I recommend for you some nice, safe municipal bonds.

Virtually no similarities, you have to be joking.

There are a number of differences, but a bucket load of similarities exist, starting with a market of buyers and sellers creating price discovery based on consensus opinion.

One thing to remember - Religion, fiat ("normal" money) and cryptos all have one thing in common, they only work if you believe in them.

  5. Always they talk about "Bitcoin", there are various alts with superior tech of faster, cheaper, more secure/private.

If Bitcoin was released today it would likely be a failure competing against the other superior 2.0 and 3.0 alts that have emerged. It was a fantastically ingenious first pass and proof of concept, but has been spoiled and hamstrung by the politics of a "civil war" as a result of decentralisation, one of it's primary initial attractions ("the man" can't change the rules).

Plus thinking of the blockchain data structure as only related to cryptocoins is like saying a SQL database is only for storing names and addresses, lots of different uses are emerging. It is not the answer to everything, but some things it is superior.

the price is back to what it was at the end of november, if you are a short term invester you might not have done so well, long term its nothing unusual

For me I was back to Jan 1 portfolio value this morning and now this afternoon back to same value as a week ago across a basket of alts, no BTC.

  7. What is reasonable expenses for schooling of 16 year old Thai girl in Thai school (academic stream with GPA 3.87) in Ubon, Det Udom area?

Just checking up because I agreed to pay for a child's schooling some years ago as I believe education is the way out/up (not my child, but I made a promise) and now she is 16 she will be starting senior school and understand costs will increase, but just want to know what is reasonable range of costs to expect.

I understand there is a range of options so if anyone can suggest best school outright and best school for value it would be appreciated.

  8. Hi

    Long story, usual Thai stuff.

I am Australian and have Thai ex-girlfriend, I met her after divorce from first wife and know her almost ten years, know her parents, brother, brother in laws and sisters quite well, have been to her village many times etc etc. She has been to Australia a few times and knows some of my family etc, we get on well and have always kept in touch and I always see her at least a few days when I go back to Thailand, she looks after me and my friends, helps with purchases and hotels etc.

Eventually, after it became too hard with her and Australian visa and age of my children in Australia and usual Thai girl things we broke up (but always kept in touch) and eventually I meet and marry an Australian girl. New wife has been with me to Thailand quite a few times and met the ex and they get on famously etc etc. Everything no problem. New wife always wanted to retire to Cambodia, but after seeing Thailand, absolutely loves it.

So now Thai ex says she want to buy some land in her village to build house on (I can easily afford) and there is 2.5 rai next to her parents place for 500,000 baht that I know and like, big mango trees, close to the small shops, across from temple etc etc. I say ok, but I want lease on half and will build a house there for escape sometimes (there is internet and I can work from anywhere with internet for months at a time sometimes).

But when she go to negotiate she say they put up the price almost double, so she now wants to buy different land, 5 minutes out of village, looks like farm being redeveloped. She say her brother and sisters think is good land and good place, but right now I am in Australia and can't go and look.

So my question is what is is expected current price for such land near small village in Buntharik?

I know there is no precise answer, just looking for reasonable range.

if it helps, land is near Wat Non Kasem.
