At least one is happy then!

Some countries give more than t-shirt. How the economy works. There are sufficient amount of poor ppl who could be motivated by 500+ thb. There is plenty private hospitals charging for everything, including in the bill the cotton bud with alcohol before an IV. Efficient market theory would dictate to meet somewhere halfway. The donate for free is far off that mark. No surprise there isn't a waiting line.

This is why thanksgiving exists! Surviving Xmas doest mean the time won't come!! Maybe soon enough the ppl will get a chance to question these self appointed "senators" and dish out some suitable military-like punishment for actual treason against the citizens of Thailand. -

Different day, same BS. Repackaged a little. -
Teaching in school or not.... Ultimately it is the job of the parents to teach about the basics, not kindergarten teachers. As for some ppl might bring snacks ... Most kids, in Thailand too, abused by family members or close family friend, or those they are the under care and said to trust, like teachers, monks. The sad truth.

SURVEY: Health Insurance for foreigners -- Good idea or not?
tingtong replied to Scott's topic in Thailand News
Would only be fair if foreigners on non-immigrant visas or extension of stay be able to join the government offered social security coverage, same as a Thai, for the same price, and same coverage. Especially concerning the older expats, it is just dishonest (to try) to lure pensioners here who in turn hardly be able to secure a medical insurance, but the same time make that mandatory!! -

Internal migration will be a major hurdle in Covid fight
tingtong replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Don't think internal move will be a bigger hurdle then importing poor (slave) labour from the neighboring countries by the 10s of thousands. In theory the government could vaccinate most locals anyhow. In reality...? -

I wouldn't find the test discouraging. Rather if book a holiday of 2 weeks, and the test despite the 2 shots and negative test result before flight, for whatever reason comes back positive ... Then what? If travel with friends and some positive some not, how that vacation of 2 weeks will go from there? What if someone was planning to visit for a week or so only? Meanwhile, unvaccinated ppl from neighbor countries are welcome! I have bunch of friends wanting to visit, but they opt to wait for now. And the extra cost the reason. But the extra uncertainty of the what-if, and the alcohol-nightlife ban, along with the potentially daily changing new rules.

Thailand aims to draw neighbours for one-day trips
tingtong replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
My thoughts exactly. It is nothing but a disguised way to let cheap workers in from Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia. No test, no insurance, no permits, no hotel booking...and most important: once in Thailand no control over where they go.
