  1. Hi there LawrenceChee.

The Avalon is fine, nothing amazing but better than most hotels in Savannakhet and its near the consulate. As for things to do .. pretty much nothing, i spent all my time split between the coffee shop next door and the Thai restaurant 5 mins walk down the road in front of the Avalon.

Also when i went it just happened to be a bank holiday, the consulate was shut for a few days and i ended up staying an unplanned week. Just make sure your documents are in order and it will be the simplest new visa you've done, albeit a bit boring :)

  2. Im going to Savannakhet in a couple of weeks to get a new multiple non O visa based on marriage. I went last year and everything was fine, no problems. I was wondering if anything has changed? i will be taking these documents as per the original post ...

    - visa application

    - 2 pictures attached to the application

    - original marriage certificate

    - 1 copy of marriage certificate, i.e. front and back page copied back to back on a single sheet with no date and signature on it.

    - 1 copy of my passport front page dated and signed by me

    - 1 copy of my wife’s ID card, front and back page copied on a single front sheet, dated and signed by my wife only

    - 1 copy of my wife’s Blue Book (Tabian Ban) copied on a single front sheet dated and signed by my wife only

    - 5000 Baht visa fee

Also, where can i download an up to date visa application with information on the exact documants needed.

    Thanks

  3. My visa (non o based on marriage) expires in a couple of weeks, I was going to go to Savannaket and get a new 1 year multi entry non o. Im in Southern Thailand, so i want to fly direct to Savannaket, i havent seen anyone else doing this so i was was wondering if there was a reason why? Would there be a problem flying back into Thailand with a visa issued from Savannaket?

Are you aware that you can do another entry on or before the enter before date on your visa and get another 90 day entry,

No problem to fly back from Savannakhet.

The only flights direct to Savannakhet are on Lao Airway form BKK The flight schedule is such that it requires you to spend an extra day in Savannakhet.

You can get flights to Mukdahan that are a fly/ride service via Nakhon Phanom on Air Asia and Nok Air.

Cheers for that Joe, put my mind at rest.

Im aware of the extra 90 days you mentioned, I entered Thai on my final visit just before my visa expired, i have a couple of weeks remaining.

I`ll be flying Lao Airway from BKK.

I read somewhere the consulate moved, how far from the airport is it?
