p.s i am presuming we go work permit, visa, back to ministry of labour but perhaps only 2 visits. My offices are Sri Racha immi and Chon Buri labour.

  3. Hi all, already shared the bank I think - NatWest. 1150 ain't bad but I live in Chonburi....Got a lady at work hunting an accountant. Looked at the website but no easy direct links. step by step! the form's actually a bit of a nightmare - they ned the past year so I have to give them my UK details, but with dates, do I put from 16 years of age?! I plan to call them to go through the form when I have the certification.....drama = life!!

  4. Yes, apparently Thailand may request info as if I have any income from the UK I could have to pay tax on it in Thailand?! Crazy stuff! Thanks so much for the info KittenKong. British Embassy BKK want 1150, have found 2 lawyers in pattaya at 1000 and got my office manager at work on it too! Would prefer 500 so may check out Soi Post Office, though I'm based in Bang Saen, one more Q: Can anyone decipher which 'TIN' I use as I have lots of different numbers.....

  5. Hi,

My UK bank (NatWest), need me to declare my tax residency. I can handle the form, BUT they need a certified copy of my passport (all pages from the looks of it).

I'm in Bang Saen. Does anyone know anyone someone in Bang Saen/Chon Buri/Pattaya or BKK who could do it for a reasonable fee?

    They require:
    1. A lawyer or solicitor who is listed on a law society or bar association website

    2. An accountant who is listed on the lnstitute of Chartered Accountants or equivalent recognised professional
body. YES PLEASEY! (presume can be Thai?)

3 Embassy official consulate or high commission.

The fourth is a route I know, but would require an advance appt, trip to BKK and 1150 baht.

Has anyone done anything similar successfully, and if so, how?

Any useful advice much appreciated. Thanks,

  6. a traditional country where they can often ask their neighbour/aunty/cousin for the help they need. An insular, debatably xenophobic country to some extent. And a big yes to the English Language factor - most of my students only search in Thai. I show them things in class and they are completely in awe of what exists. Searching only in Thai script is very limited. I'm used to it now, and sites such as Lazada have sprung up, and online food delivery. We'll get there.....slowly!

  7. Hi,

I applied for my new UK passport on Monday. Today at Chaeng Wattana I had problems extending my non-B. My visa expires on the 2nd June. I feel my best option is to come back in on a tourist exempt 30 day. My passport is valid but nearly full. I can't go to Cambodia because of the space it requires for their visa. I am not entirely sure if my passport has been cancelled in the UK, but I still have it intact. I am hoping it will be good to cross over tomorrow or Thursday in Malaysia. Can anyone advise whether their system may pick up that I have applied for a new passport, making me in nomansland? I know that to fly would be a big no-no. Hope this makes sense - if not, please ask for clarification. I would really appreciate any advice anyone can give on this matter (I wouldn't have applied for the passport first but was advised to as urgent). Many Thanks

  8. It's definitely a hard one. give money or food if you feel it's right. I have some regular people I give to, even though I suspect granny is a gambler. if they receive with thanks then they are worthy, if they throw it in your face well...The other day I ended up in a bus depot rather than my usual stop. I knew roughly where I was - Rama 4 road. A rough-looking pair were swaggering along, looked intoxicated. I carried along the road normally. As soon as the woman saw me she panicked, then saw an opportunity and started begging in my face! I had a bottle of water given to me by the slum schools and offered it straight to her (it was boiling hot). She was too lazy to even try to seem convincing but she said 'gin kow!' (I want to eat food!) so I said 'me too!'

I wouldn't have given her money as I suspect she was up to no good and it wouldn't really help her. I changed my 'walking quickly past' behaviour when I lived in Sutthisan and used to see young office girls giving 20 baht to people on bridges. I decided that if a spare 20 was around in my bag, it would be more use to them. So my attitude is give, when and if you feel the time is right.
