I would like to know if this couple had the same problems as I'm having getting a visa for my wife to vacation in Canada with me. We have been married for over 5 years and tried unsuccessfully on two occasions to get a visa for her without success. At the end of this year we are going to try one more time, but if that fails to produce a visa, my wife has said she will not try again. I know there are people who try to deceive Canada Immigration so they can get into the country and never leave, but I don't believe they should paint everyone with the same brush and prohibit honest people to simple have a vacation in the country!

It's too bad they aren't as ambitious the other 51 weeks of the year!!!!

In any other part of the world this would be known as adding insult to injury. But here in Thailand, I guess saving face at any cost, is way more important.

Some one should start by telling the farmers that it is far better to plough the chaff back into the soil, rather than burning it off and causing all the air pollution! If they did this, they wouldn't need all of the fertilizer that cost them so much and causes all kinds of health problems. In the end, the soil would be healthier and so would they.

As far as I know there isn't any pangolin in Nigeria. Why are they avoiding the fact that some of this illegal shipment originated in LoS?

The fact that Thailand ranks so low will come home to roost when the full impact of the Asean Community kicks in at the end of this year. Maybe then the power that be will want to rethink their stance on giving English such a low priority in the education of its students. It always amazes me that with so much of the GDP of Thailand based in the tourism industry that so few people in this industry can speak or understand English, let alone write it!

I just hope that his policies will bring back the Canada that Harper tried so hard to destroy. A Canada with some compassion for the working man and a return to helping those less fortunate than the wealthy and not turning the governments back on the veterans who defend and fight for the rights of all Canadians.

How can the navy say, with a straight face, that they need them to protect the marine natural resources when the fishermen are fishing out the waters so fast that there won't be anything left for them to protect. Do they ever look out over the waters at night and see all the boats out in the Gulf with their lights on fishing out all the squid and anything else they can catch? This will just be another colossal waste of taxpayers money that every government believes they have the right to do!

What makes them think the price of oil is going to go up? Russia's whole economy is based on the oil and gas industry and as long as the world price is down, the economy will remain where it is. Also Russia is feeling the effects of all the sanctions placed on them for their support to the rebels in the Ukraine and the invasion and consequent annexation of the Crimean peninsula. So unless TOT knows something that the rest of the world is oblivious to, their forecast is out to lunch.

The first place they should start to end the corruption is the RTP. You will never eliminate or curb the corruption when the police force that is there to uphold the law, is the worst offender. They should start by paying them a living wage so that they are no so inclined to extort the public at large to make ends meet.
-
As long as they fail to see and correct the corruption that exists in the RTP, any changes they make are a waste of time and effort. When will they ever wake up to this fact?

The comment about there not being any competent civil engineers in this country is so true! I'm sure everyone must have noticed where a roadway meets an overpass there is a huge bump because the road wasn't allowed a gradual rise from further back so as not to cause such a sudden change in elevation. Every overpass I have ever driven on in Thailand is this way!

If the cops really want to stop the street racing, all they have to do when they catch anyone that has been racing is to seize their car for six months. I would bet that would put a lot of fear into the racers and eliminate those cars from being part of any racing in the future.
-
Who are the idiots that thought this up? Maybe the cops should spend a little time enforcing the traffic laws before spending the tax payers money on ridiculous things like ticketing people for spitting on the sidewalk!
-
Why on earth would you ever want to have a railway system with two different gauges? Talk about throwing good money after bad. It seems this country is really good at doing things the wrong way and then regretting their decisions down the road. But of course never admitting that a mistake was made!
-
Unfortunately, this will not make one bit of difference to the unsafe drivers who already have a licence and those that drive without having a licence. Plus, unless the police decide to start enforcing the written laws that already exist, it is all just window dressing by the government and a simple attempt at public relations that will all be forgotten in short order.

Who wants to go down with a Chinese sub for protection? Or the 1930's Japanese deal? The Chinese subs have an expected life span of about 5 years, as reported in a press release. The Japanese produce some fine cars, but will they be as good as say a Lexus?
At the end of the day the party invites have been sent out but only the scavengers are turning up?
They are clutching at straws to hoodwink the Thai public that it’s the fault of the international community that the government is being spurned. These guys suffer delusions of their own self-importance on the international stage.
To go after the sub deal with China, will be a greater injustice than the rice deal; as the constitution written by the military excludes them from any legal action after the event.
Guess what Chris ....... Lexus cars are made by Toyota.

I think it is silly to assign blame at this time in the proceedings. We have no idea who's at fault and it could be that they were both in the wrong. The Brit for speeding and the Thai officer for making an ill-advised U-turn in front of an on coming car.

CANADA !!!!! Just ask any American who has ever visited there.
-
To my way of thinking, one of the really big problems in Thailand is the lack of due process. If there was, things like this couldn't happen and the cops wouldn't be able to extract 'tea money' from the people they are supposed to be serving and protecting!

Well most of the red shirts are found guilty, very quick work. What happened to the yellow shirts that raided the airport and made the country look stupid? Did they let them go or I did missed the news?
Don't you think this travesty of justice makes the country look stupid?

Is this what "THAINESS" is all about?

He should have been put in jail ! Maybe then it would be warning to other high-up officials that just because they are in a position of authority "don't abuse the position" and bring shame on everyone in a position of authority.

Now if we could just get BTS to do something about the bottleneck that is created by there not being modern technology installed that will accept bills and not only coins. It is a crying shame that if you don't have the correct change, you have to go to the wicket and exchange a bill for some coins. The technology does exist and it sure would move things along a lot faster. I guess the first order of business is for the powers to be at BTS to give a damn. They mustn't have to ride on the system or they are given pass-cards so they don't have to wait in the long lines.

My experience tells me to warn you against buying a Samsung! We bought a Samsung 51/2 years ago and there was no end to the problems we had with it. It go so bad that after replacing almost every part in it, I began joking that we should have bought two of the units originally, and that way we would have had all the parts that were needed to fix the one unit that we were using. We finally got to the point where we gave up on it when the latest part that broke was going to cost over 2500 baht..... and this had happened when the unit was out of warranty (which at that time was only one year). I guess the reason they decided to give out a 10 year warranty is because they were getting such a bad name and had to do something to overcome the bad reports. We moved it to another of the bedrooms that we're not using and had a Mitsubichi installed in its place. That was two years ago that we made the switch, and we couldn't be happier with the Mitsubichi. Our electric bills are a lot lower than they were with the Samsung, plus the only maintenance that is ever done is when we get the unit cleaned every 4 months. But it is good to remember that no matter what unit you purchase, you need to have it cleaned regularly if you want it to run properly and not use anymore energy than is required. Good luck in your search, but my recommendation is to buy a Mitsubichi and stay as far away from a Samsung as you can get!
