Try skytrain - On Nut to Asok
subway Sukhumvit to Hualamphong
railway to Don Muang station

You know what time you have to be at the airport
You assume that there will be a bad traffic jam, to be pedantic, you can expect a terrible jam but not expected
Leave hime early - what is so difficult?
Get a map and find out which is the closest station (BTS, MRT or railway) to Don Muang

I like Christmas but have noticed that the Christians are hi-jacking it and trying to make it into a religious festival!!!

I don't know if this is the right forum, but here goes.
I live in Los on a retirement visa, supported by a company pension and later OAP. I have recently. legally married in Thailand. ( thai girl) I never thought about claiming for married mans allowance. I do pay tax in the uk on my pension.
Am I entitled to it, living here? If so.
How do I go about it ?
What will the inland revenue require?
Can it be done from here. Brit Embassy perhaps.
Also, she is with my child, due early next year.
Will, as a tax payer and paid up N.I stamps, be entitled to child allowance?
I'd be grateful of any constructive advise. thanks.
I had a letter from the NI people last year stating that I have not paid enough contributions for the last year that I lived in England. I wrote back saying that i was now living in Thailand and had no intention of living back in the UK again but (half joking) I asked if I could have my pernsion paid out here. They sent back a positive reply and a form to work out my pension forecast.
I got a reply back with what i am entitled to plus what my Thai wife is allowed - she has never worked in England and only visits with me annually.
So in my opinion - yes. Write to your Inland Revenue department and also check with the overseas dept of the DSS (or whatever they call themselves nowadays) If you don't ask you don't get! Possibly, you will be able to get child benefit, married tax allowance and a pension for your wife.

Heavy landing + hot wheels incident is a very minor occurance and does not merit all this media hype. Yes, it can be scary, very scary. I landed at JFK in May 1980 after a 14 hour flight in a Pan-Am 747SP from Dhahran when we popped 5 tyres.

<deleted> - black magic only works if you believe - purely psychological.
I like Black Magic but if I can't get them, I'll have a box of Terry's All Gold!

Great footage. Reminds me of my first commercial landing in Cambodia.
Aircraft type Airbus A320
I will try to get the tail #.
Possible wind shear, crew concentating on keeping craft striaight and level and making intact landing than a smooth one. Other possible answer - landing too soon after another aircraft. Pilots appear to have jammed the brakes on, hrnce the bumps.

Two maps that I can recommend:-
1) Bangkok Maps 'Short Cuts' from the Japanese bookstore in the Emporium 500 Baht. Covers most of BKK province in great detail and shows inter-connecting sois, it is about the same size as a paperback.
2) ThinkNet's Bamgkok map about 400 Baht. You get a fold-out paper map and a CD-ROM. The CD has a great search facility so if you are looking for a school in Laksi (18 of them) or a temple in Nonthaburi (181), it's easy to do. The map is switchable between English and Thai. I find this useful for finding out of the way locations, switching the map to Thai and then printing it out to give to the taxi driver.
PM me if you want scanned examples.

You raised a very good point p1p. I am not in Chiang Mai but Bangkok. My name is Peter from Widnes and David and I cycled across Saudi together in '89. Any more information that you need about me please pm me

I am trying to find someone I worked with many years ago and I believe that he may be in the Chiang Mai area.
I won't give his full name but if you know him or even if you are him, please pm me.
His name is David G****, has a Thai wife (P--) and a son C------ who will be about 16 now. I know his wife comes from the area and he was thinking about building a house there. Last time I saw him was in Taif, Saudi Arabia. I do not wish to reveal any details about me on this public forum, will he remember me? yes, we done something spectacular in November 1969.

I had a badly-worded e-mail from this company a few months ago now and a friend suggested that I go to see them for a job. After looking at their website and speaking to them, I have decided not to go. The site to me says only one thing - SCAM!
Has anyone heard of 'The Government Project' mentioned on their home page? Get a job with no qualifications or experience.
'All accepted applicants are granted a 1 year work permit' but later they say 'The school will organize all issues about work permit, visa
and accommodations.'
They even throw in an advert for their modelling agency halfway through explaining about 'The Government Project'
Anyone know about this outfit?
