"If Thailand wants to remove the negative attitudes people have towards it they could start by looking at how they treat foreigners starting with the word "Farang" which I find offensive because it refers to colour of skin and is always spoken with disdain."

Do you go to Thailand of your own free will??? If you don't like the attitude, why go?

  2. I personally find it quite funny when I go to a village with no foreigners, and the kids run away shouting FARRANG, FARRANG, or they have learned some English at school and want to practice after someone announces, FARRANG, and points at me, it is a big joke, and it has never been said to me as an insult, quite the opposite in most cases, for Gods sake stop using the race card, we go into their country and most of us enjoy the experience, I think they put up with us very well.

  3. I am not Thai, I have no Thai blood but it does get up my nose when ignorant people, who know nothing of Thai culture post comments because they have searched for pond life, and found it, if you go to London you will find many scammers, if you go to Bangkok the same is true, if you go out of London into the countryside you will find that life is very different, the same is true in Thailand. I have been treated very well in Thailand, with huge respect, and I have given the same. IF YOU LAY DOWN WITH DOGS YOU GET FLEAS! "I found my wife in a Bangkok bar, she turned out to be a scammer" what did you expect???? I am very tired of men that come looking for easy sex and get scammed, IT IS YOUR OWN FAULT!

  4. A warning to anyone using McDonalds, if you want to use the free wifi you may find that they want your name to register for it, I did not do it as they also want your passport number, I have written to McDonalds a few times to ask what they are playing at but they did not reply.

  5. I would not want to live in Pattaya, I think it's a lavatory, I only realised how lovely Thailand was once I left there, I have stayed there many times, also Bangkok and I dislike both intensely, someone mentioned Bang Saray, Bang Saray is much more agreeable, it is not full of tourists (yet) Pattaya is wall, to wall Russians. I have been using the cheap busses and visiting many different areas to get a feel for Thailand and I would advise you to do the same, I was recently going to Chiang Mai but decided to sleep one night half way as the journey was so long, I stopped in Mueang Phetchabun, and never left, we all have different idea's of what is best, or good and you really need to see for yourself, when I stopped in Phetchabun, I got up, checked out of my hotel, went to a little coffee shop on the river, I was sitting there watching the locals slowly go about their business when one of the few English speakers said "where you go?" and we started a very limited conversation, it ended up with her phoning her husband and me going to lunch with the family, needless to say I did not make the bus that day, I was shown a beautiful hotel for 800 Baht per night, the next day unfolded like the first but by now I had acquired a few friends and got another lunch invite, I stayed in Phetchabun for three weeks before I left as I had previously booked to go to Myanmar (Burma) after returning I stayed in Bang Lamung, Bang Saray, Pattaya, but I kept thinking about Phetchabun, the only answer was to go back, I had another month there before flying back to the UK, my point is that everyone's idea of ideal is different so jump on a few busses and you may find yours.

  6. You think your friend has bought a bar, he has not, he has bought a lesson, a very expensive one, soon the rest of his problem will materialise, normally bills for her family if he is lucky, if he is unlucky it will be a Thai boyfriend, or several Thai friends, or she will convince him to go home/ somewhere else for a week, or two, then he will return to nothing, the agreement about her not being able to sell it will be handy if he is using the toilet as it sure as hell will not secure his money.

  7. I was teaching in Thailand without producing any qualifications, I did it just as a trial run, I found it very rewarding and great fun but your salary will be reflected in your qualifications. I would advise anyone that is thinking of teaching as an easy way to survive to forget it unless they really are committed, there are already too many Europeans teaching very poor English, it is bad enough that Thai's are working as English teachers but cannot speak the language properly.

  8. Wuff, Wuff, "Guess Thailand and Russia already know that "Britannia rules" is long over.

Just met a nice young Russian here. He's now with one of the girls that you thought would be your property.
    Any objections to that?"

Girls being property?? is it not the Russians that are shipping them to every country that they settle in to force them into prostitution? you are still living in the dark ages of communist brutality my friend, but you are entitled to your opinion, as for Britannia rules being over, I think you will find that Russia has lost much more influence, and control, over massively more domain than Britain ever has, they are trying to bully their way back in but that will all end in tears, they have a currency that their own people are ditching in favour of the US Dollar, because old Putin, is putin his nose where he should not have, and now he is sending a lot of Russians bankrupt but he cannot see it, as he thinks he is God (KGB Rules)

  9. Anyway, we have no need for this debate really, the Thai's will now learn that the Russians are a spent force, their government is only interested in World domination, their currency is now nearly worthless, they always show their true colours when they start to make it in the World, I am not saying that the English are perfect, but Russians tend to be bullies, just like their ex KGB leader.

  10. I will agree with some of the previous remarks about English, I stay away from Pattaya, and Bangkok because it only seems to attract the worst kind of tourist (including English) a lot are just noisy louts that drink 2-5 pints then think they are Gods gift, in reality they are boring <deleted>, most end up getting a good seeing to by a couple of small Thai's then crying their eyes out to the press back home (I am English by the way)

No race is perfect, but Russians are definitely making a mess of Thailand.

  11. "Never had a problem with any Russian. Wish I could say the same about the Brits...." Then you are lucky, it is just a fact that about 95% of the postings here are from people who have a bad opinion of the Russians in Thailand, as it is from across the members of this forum I would assume it to be representative of the general public there, if you have a problem with Brits I would imagine that you are welcome to voice it here but you will not find so many people support your opinion. Ask the Ukrainians their opinion, that should be interesting.

  12. bahlaht has just posted a reply to a topic that you have subscribed to titled "I'm getting milked dry by issan family".

  13. Quite amusing to see some of the comments here, I am surprised that they are wasting so much time (some are like War And Peace) you ask several questions, every time someone gives you a good answer you discount it, or do not want to know, you only posted here because you feel helpless, you are helpless, you are being foolish, you are a victim, you do not want to leave, enjoy it until you are broke, then they will turn on you, and she will look for a replacement (haven't you noticed her texting, taking her phone with her into the toilet etc)

  14. First off - you were visiting - you don't live there right?? Okay, but when you do live in a Soi Dog problem area, do as I did, and have reported in previous posts, look ariund at who the Soi Boys on MotoCys are, offer them a heap on Baht (think I gave them 10K - 5 up front, 5 when the animals were gone) they arranged relocation (??) destruction(??) of these animals, I didn't care what, all I know is they didn't come back, the Soi Boy's always saluted me when I walked peacefully down my Soi, I'd drop a bag of coca cola and 7/11 snacks once in awhile............for 1 year, no dogs. Okay, from time to time, one of them would drop his bike, I'd give a donation to help get it fixed, just being a good neighbor. Now, listen, hear the complaints from the Soi Dog lovers about how terrible I am................waiting for it..............waiting for it...............Silence?? Whew!! Thanks

No disrespect intended but you must make Thai's think that immigrants are stupid.
