    What does your contract say?

And why are they wanting to reduce your salary? If you don't disclose that information (absolutely your choice of course), then I don't see how anybody here can give you any focused comment.

By the law the Thai labor law covers all employment / labor matters, same for Thai and non-Thai employees.

1st question that comes to mind would be to ask you if the company has obtained the Work Visa AND Work Permit for you?

If these documents are not in place what they pay you is all hypothetical.

  2. Advice verbatim "over the counter" or from Forums would not be my first choice in getting the facts 100% correct.

Have you tried the Thai Immigration 24hr call center - the few times I have needed to use it they were helpful and correct everytime.

Seems to me that it might be an issue with the Pattaya address you are registered to in the Immigration Dept.computer system and that all you need to update it to the new Sattahip address??????

  3. From learning from what happened to a friend of mine earlier this year...

Going from Work to Retirement is not a problem

Coming out of "Retirement" back to Work now presents a few big hurdles to jump thru

Best check it out in person at an Immigration Office (in preference to the Immigration hot line) BUT the rules seem to change too frequently to even guess what the deal will be in a few years

If you are married to a Thai, the best strategy at the moment is to go on (what you are legally entitled to) a Family Non O rather than a Retirement Non O

  4. From one Aussie to another

How much can a Koala bear??
Compared to Thailand, doing biz in Australia is a Nanny State specially if it is F&B biz

Mind you, if being thoroughly "romanced" in all aspects of: finding a Thai biz partner & the pre opening phase; paying out ongoing "Tea Money" as an acceptable ongoing operating expense is more appealing than a mind set of compliance, competing with the next Whos' Kitchen Rules, health inspectors and council, labor and everything rates then go for it!!!!

Have you considered Cambodia, more specifically Seim Reap... still plenty of opportunities at acceptable levels of risk for those seeking a Pioneering Experience

    Good Luck

  5. Seems Jacobs Creek, the high volume,South Australian, Barossa Valley producer (that has products on most 7-11 shelves throughout Thailand) has also identified the quality and the supply issue.

I was in "chateau" Big C on the Klang today and noticed that they have teamed up with Iconic, Thai Chef, Ian Kittichai to produce a wine they call Lamond

Awarding itself itself "the #1 Australian Wine for Thai food" at the price of Tb750 (or AUD $30 a bottle) and the lack of a leggy hostess offering a thimble full of what looks to be a Rose blend of some sorts to be served chilled caused me to pass on this sensational offer....well for the time being !!

The great thing about marketing wine products where most punters are naive is that grape variety(s) can remain a mystery.
