  1. I just returned from Phuket Immigration to renew my one year Non O-A extension and was told I needed proof of health insurance (original and copy).

I was told this by two young men who appeared to be interns and they where unable to give me any further information or documentation regarding this requirement.

I was under the impression this would not start until October and if you had already been in Thailand a certain number of years (i’ve been here 10), you would be grandfathered in and would not need health insurance.

Am I misinformed or has something changed?

if anyone can explain the health insurance requirements or provide a government link for Non O-A extension it would be appreciated.

    Thanks

(grumpy old farang comments will not be appreciated)

RickNew, are you on the money in the bank route?  If yes, do you need to show 1 year bank transaction from bank in addition to the usual bank letter confirming 800k THB in the bank?

Yes to all the above.  I keep 800,000+ in the bank all year.  I provide Immigration 12 month bank statement (in addition to bank letter and bank book).  Interesting, IO spent 10 of the 15 minutes reviewing every page of my 12 month bank statements.

My bank, Krungsi, very good at knowing exactly what is needed for immigration.  Total fees charged by bank 300 baht.

  3. Just completed my one year retirement extension, process and documents exactly the same as last year.  No mention of Health Insurance.  Total process took about 15 minutes.

Must return tomorrow to pick up passport (same as last year)

  4. I came across the bridge today, I preregisted with the gophuket app and had my QR code ready, I also registered with the Thai Chana app.  When I arrived at the checkpoint, the officer just waived me through, no questions, not temperature check, no scanning the QR code, just a simple hand gesture to go on through.

That said, I did see 10 to 15 civilians off to the side of the building doing something. I did not stop and ask what they were doing.  So maybe the stops are random and I just got lucky today??

I did my retirement extension in Phuket Town on Tuesday. Yesterday was a holiday, so I am picking up my passport today.

    Thank you!

were there any new documents required, or same documents/procedure as last year??

    Thanks again!

  6. This App is all in Thai, question 3 asks for “card number” (in Thai) and any card/passport I enter it returns error message, “card not found”.

I was really hoping to find someone who completed the Sarasin Bridge crossing today to share first hand information.

  7. Has anyone returned to Phuket since they open bridge? What was required to enter Phuket? I read about the new app “phuketpolice.org”, but when i download it, it’s all in Thai.  Any current information regarding Sarasin Bridge crossing appreciated!

  8. They just confirmed Domestic flights coming into Phuket Airport from May 16 on will require mandatory quarantine.  No word yet on bridge crossing,  but if they require by air, you can bet they’ll also require for land!!

I’m with you Taxin, I’ve also been quarantine out of phuket 2 months now.  I have no desire to go back to Phuket and do 14 more days.  Better just to stay where i am

  9. I just watched a live facebook video stream of a opening ceremony at the Sarisin Bridge.  It was a press event showing the screening measures for those returning to Phuket.

It was all in Thai so I did not get any details, but I’m hoping the Phuket press will be putting out additional information very soon.

    fingers crossed!!

  10. Is there a resolution to this? Can we return to our home in Phuket?

I just downloaded the app “phuketsmartchekin” but it’s all in Thai.

Has anyone successfully returned to their home in Phuket recently??

    Thank you

  11. I got mine in Los Angeles two years ago and it could not of been a more pleasant experience. Very nice friendly people at Thai Embassy in LA. Dropped everything of in the morning and pick up visa next day. Had a lovely evening in LA.

The only real pain was getting everything notarized before I went. Virtually had to hire a notary to spend half a day visiting doctor, bank and sheriff's office.
