  1. It does not require a wise man such as myself to explain that

slow moving vehicles in huge congested areas will eventually

pollute a city such as Bangkok. lol  Seriously the congestion is out of control.

Maybe create another major IT city away from the sinking city of Bangkok.

Maybe the former capital where they do have water control.

Pretty much sums up ASEAN whoever has the chair.....negative is not in their vocabulary!

I would not discount Singapore. I wish Singapore could exert some influence.

I love Thailand people and the Asian countries in general. The people that is.

So many other countries help the power people to squeeze the population to submission.

The fact that the people know no better is the reason there is not a real revolution in tech, education, democracy, freedom of speech and so on.

Don't blame the common people, blame countries and businesses that allow the generals to rule.

I think because at the lower school ages, one teacher tends to teach their class all the subjects, rather than specialise in just one.

So true. Learning a foreign language is much easier when taught to the young.

I do speak clear concise English but was unable to communicate with the English teachers at senior and further education schools.

I was invited to speak in one class. The daughter of an Englishman spoke very good English.

I do speak a fraction of Thai. The poor Thai I speak is much more than the English students and most government departments.

I met my now wife 8 years ago. She speaks very good conversational English.

I was invited to "teach" conversational English by 3 schools.

I could. But it is forbidden on pain of losing my visa. I do go to the neighbours' and speak to young kids. But that is no good either.

It is so frustrating. Some of the kids actually want to learn, as do their parents want their children to learn.

Unsure what an "extension in Cambodia" means though...

    Maybe talking about TM.30 ?

I am sure he needs to make the 90 day report within 24 hours of his return to Thailand.

I believe it is to ensure he has not changed his address and to make sure his wife still wants him to live with her.

That is my understanding, I do my first extension in Laos soon

  5. I used to love the Looney Tunes. Daffy Duck and all. US is so much funnier now. Cruel comics, but so funny.

It is a shame that some US people are suffering from Daffy. But that is what comics is all about.

Daffy never cared if he got hurt, he just got back up and blustered.

Daffy never cared if he hurt someone, it was all part of the comic and so funny.

US is a Looney Tunes comic now and it is so funny

In Thailand, the law is the law. (as I have often been reminded)

A certified copy of a registered doctors' prescription and the reasons for may help. In your own country.

Go to the Thai consulate embassy or consulate prior to travel is recommended.

Also talk to your own country's border control. Get it right before you travel. Declare it with letters and approvals on arrival in the Kingdom.

If you try to slip it through, you may be arrested, you may be banned from the kingdom.

I have found that most Thai clinics may issue every drug you require. If you are legitimate.

18 years in Afghanistan? The US needs revamping of total military posture. Increasingly, we are viewed as an oppressing global force and not "the good guys. This is jusified by documented evidence over a long period of time. I favor coordinating the US military with allies globally. European concerns = Europe takes the front line, Asia = Asian allies take the front line, etc. The US acts in support but no longer is sending their troops as a miltary response on a global footprint (800 installations worldwide?). This does not preclude such things as enforcing free passage in international waters or airspace. This is in direct defese of our interests under international law. No US military action, additionally, without Congressional Declaration of War if we are sending troops into harm's way. Ah, yes, and absolute funding for service related damage caused to those veterans.

If you care to check history, you may discover that US, UK, France and later Russia and EU countries have manipulated outcomes in the middle east.

But. US having contrived war in Iraq, including Syria is now quitting. As they have in history quit so many wars they contrived to start.

In doing so, they always leave some close ally that also does the hard fighting. They leave them to massacre.

In this case the Kurds. Once again the former nation of Kurdistan has been screwed over by the west.

     Always remember this.

Putin snapped his fingers - you will exit Syria now, it belongs to Russia.

Trump jumps to comply, despite recommendations from all government agencies.

Putin says go, despite US saying the Kurds will be protected.

    Putin says, just go.

    Trump, tail between legs complies.

Turkey says it will obliterate the Kurds.

Putin says go. Trump says yes sir.

US limps out of Syria. Trump knows who the master is. Kurds will be massacred. Trump- I don't care, Putin says go so we must go.

Part of the problem is the danger if the bag falls out of the locker, much greater if bag is overweight, and the other part is the effect on the trim of the plane with extra weight up high. That’s also why they charge extra at the airport for adding luggage, as well as making more money, as they have to recalculate the freight capacity and the trim. I remember being asked in the US to move seats with several others to balance on a half empty commuter jet. I was one of the lighter passengers!

Mate, this is THAI visa. Stop talking logic

How about the red necked, stiff necked, red under the bed communists and anarchists, that have/ will bring their economies to bankruptcy.

No sympathy anymore. Along with huge corruption in all sectors, it is time for the Meds to start paying Their debt off

Your wife can act as a reference and her house book and ID can prove your residence although the yellow book does the same thing.

Best to go to one of the main branches to get the account opened.

If you are married to a Thai lady, if you have your marriage registered at the amphoe and received that valuable certificate, gotten the yellow book, have an address and your wife has a current ID, you have a current passport - then you have fulfilled all your obligations.

If you have no success you may demand to speak to head office at your expense.

Bangkok is one of the better banks. But there are others.

First thing is to ask to someone higher up. Or change banks.

It does require patience, some hours perhaps. Smile, but not like a looney. Be cool, earn some honour and respect.

Next time you will be treated almost as an equal

The uninformed have the belief the illegals only work in the fields. Your comment confirms your lack of understanding of how all blue collar jobs are hit. You don't think they take jobs in construction, warehousing, factory work? As automation increases these unskilled-skilled manual labor type jobs are decreasing. The influx of illegals only makes it harder on the legal Americans.

You can't compete for work with a Mexican on a work site? Maybe you need to work harder or improve your skills.

Have you ever discussed with your employer as to why they prefer migrants to those who presume some sort of preferential treatment?

Of course, I am one of the uninformed.

As automation increases, go to night school to improve your skill set

  12. I took the son of my wife for a licence test. He filled in the form, I gave a small pink envelope and voila.

I was not concerned because I had taught him for 5 months. He is a safe, respectful and thoughtful driver (auto. lol)

It is not hard to see that many people in Thailand have no perception of the world around them.

My wife cannot understand that I am not often in danger when I drive. How do you know?

How do you anticipate? Many Thai seem not to have advance perception. To anticipate.

Not a criticism of Thai people, just an observation that driver learning is very lax, and licences are more so.

Thai Immigration scrambling to save face ????

It's been reported elsewhere that the young lady had a Visa and an Onward Ticket to Australia, that she was 'in Transit' in Bangkok Airport until she had her passport confiscated by some 'Saudi officials' air-side of Thai immigration.

This is as I understand the facts.... there has be much misinformation on this matter, however... Is what I've written above as others understand the situation?

Additionally KSA nationals are eligible for Visa on Arrival in Thailand - so what is the warning for? (read my first line) No one made any mistake in permitting a KSA national to travel to Thailand.

You are most likely correct in surmising that the young Saudi lady had all the documents to permit her to travel to Australia.

But Thailand is in a no win situation here.

    1. Face, if you know anything about Asia you will understand that this overrules all actions. They made a decision and this needs to be placated.

    2. Arabia (I cannot be more specific but google will assist) provides money to the south of Thailand to conduct terror

against the police and military. Also against teachers, doctors, nurses and basic infrastructure.

Thailand needs to placate Arabia to prevent more terror.

Standing up to Islam countries when the US, Japan, China and the US, kow tow to oil rich countries is not fair to Thailand.

I suspect They found the action of a young lady being independent as being against the system.

I suspect They wish to control the young women of Thailand and this is not a good example.

It will take Australia to kow tow to the Generals in order to secure her release. If you saw how the Thai Generals denigrated this young lady

for abandoning her parents, you may understand. A whole half hour was spent by a general to verbally abuse this young lady.

But the worst thing is the detention of the Bahrain refugee to Australia, again detained because Arab countries told them to do it.

Or terror will return to South Thailand, more so than now. Such is politics

  14. I love Thailand. I have visited Pattaya  times but no longer would dare swim there. Too many open sewers to the sea

And the plastic filled ditches. And the broken down infrastructure, the swaggering police, the over crowded main street. The awful smell.

This poll is a phony. It is no wonder that Trump can say it is all fake news because this truly is fake news.

Get out of the cities in Thailand and find the truly beautiful country that it is.

  15. Paris nominated as the healthiest city in the world?

Except for its citizens, who are subject to anarchy protesters every day, blown up and shot up up by Islamists every 3 months or so .

The travel supermarket forum must be a French organisation, with leanings to Thailand.

I will visit Laos soon via Chiang Mai. I will make up my own mind. I trust that Chiang Mai is not as lawless as Paris
