  1. Here's a vid of him being processed.

Of course, people have a right to be presumed innocent when arrested for a crime, but if you're caught in a bank with a gun drawn, and a bag of the teller's money in your hands, the presumption is still effective, but maybe not for long.

Here' there appears to have been a well constructed sting operation, and he was arrested with an accomplice. Maybe it's kind of like being caught in a bank with a gun.

I do some NGO type stuff in northern Thailand involved in anti-child sex trafficking.  If he's guilty, I hope that California scoops him off his plane (once he's released from the Thai prison system), and tries him in the US for sex trafficking, or at least forces him to face prosecution and registry as a sex offender in the US.

  2. CMU has a number of medical doctors that practice psychiatry.  I went to Chiang Mai Ram once for severe insomnia ( not a psychiatric condition) and met with a psychiatrist on duty ( also a prof at CMU) that spoke excellent English, spent 30 minutes with me,  and wrote me a prescription that helped me sleep at night.  Here's a link to a website of a psychiatrist with western training: http://www.wongpakaran.com/  and  https://www.facebook.com/professors.wongpakaran/   If she isn't accepting new patients she may be able to make a solid referral.

  3. Thanks, everyone, very much, for the responses. All were very helpful. In fact, there were condo developments mentioned that I was not even aware of, and that do not pop up on the realtor sites often, if at all. All of the kind responses will make my next trip to CM to look for a condo much easier, as I can now target certain developments and track the pricing of these condos online from here. Like many of us, I am looking to find that sweet spot of location, quality, and price as this will be a longterm hold for me. I look forward one day to being an actual resident member of the greater CM community.

  4. This subject may have been discussed before, and if so, my apologies. I am interested in purchasing a condo in an area north of the city as I drive the 107 to Fang often, and want to be close enough to access to 107, and avoid the city traffic. Anything nice between the 107 and the 1001, either north or south of the CM-Lampang Frontage Rd.

Are there condo developments that can be recommended, in the sense that they're not run down, noisy, or in dreary areas, and on the other hand, not elite or too high end? I'd like to be able to narrow a search down to a studio condo that would be in the 700K to 1.3 range. Of course, I am able to search the Chiang Mai property sites on the internet, but I'm really looking for the inside scoop on the condos that people of moderate means have found to be pleasant, reasonably well run, and a reasonable investment. An onsite pool is a plus, and I prefer that the building itself not be a tower or huge concrete structure, but something of moderate size.

Any recommendations are welcome. I plan to come back in the Spring and drive around and see some different locations. Thanks in advance.

  5. As Seligne posted above, The Duangtawan on Loi Kroh is the place to go for a western style fitness gym. It's located on the 4th floor of the hotel. I used it last week while visiting Chiang Mai, and the fee is an unfortunate B500, but well worth it if the option is not working out at all. Included with the access to the fitness center (occupied by western travelers, mostly) is the nice pool and sundeck area. I believe the hotel offers a rate for a week, and month, that is then on an amortized daily basis quite reasonable
