  1. I have never been asked or checked for currency when coming to Thailand. It would come in handy to have a few hundred baht which you may need for the taxi fare to your hotel.

Be careful with private taxi services, many will approach you at the airport and offer a ride for anywhere between 1,500 and 2,500 baht.

There are plenty of ATMs wherever you go.

Have a great time in Thailand!

  2. The first excuse for her not to attend the cabinet meeting was her helicopter not being equipped with night vision

The second excuse for her not to attend the cabinet meeting is because she has food poisoning.

I wonder what the next excuse will be....

It is clear that she is insecure and afraid to speak at meetings.

  3. These farang bank robbers are the strangest criminals here. I don't know how they expect to get away with such a high profile crime being a member of such a tiny minority group

the climate ,the sangsom and beeya chang ,the sex ,the perpettual holiday thing that happens to farangs in thailand must have got too much for him

Well, after all, we're all just here for the sex and drugs and roch and roll, aren't we?

well ,some people might come for the culture.... :whistling:

His girfriend's familie's buffalo got sick, so what was he supposed to do? :whistling:

  4. There is a reason for those people being in jail. They came to the country to steal, cheat, scam and deal with drugs involving innocent people. You search for "scam" on the internet and what comes up first? NIGERIA!

Those people have absolutely no feelings for anyone, treat them like they would treat you.

  5. The fact that your GF is in her late 20s and you guys met about 4 month ago could be a show-stopper during the Visa interview at the US Embassy.

Being prepared to answer (sometimes very personal) questions, being polite and showing up nicely dressed might get her approved for a Tourist VISA. Proof of a good and steady employment history as well as a good amount of savings is an absolute must. Good Luck!

  6. I have been an IKEA Customer for years back in Europe and I continued to shop there after I moved to the USA.

I love the fact that IKEA opens it's store(s) in Bangkok, but I wonder if Thai consumers are going to buy there if they have to assemble their furniture at home.

Maybe they should offer free in-store assembly service?

  7. dam_n! My father-in-law has been bugging me for money, and I told him to wait for his credit card. Now what am I gonna say?

Simple,.. you just tell him that you're very sorry that his own government after very careful consideration and several high level cabinet meetings have seen fit to deny his credit and that this in turn means that he is automatically disqualified for any family "loan" :D

tell him to live with it...., it's his own fault since he was to one to vote for the red shirts

  8. I believe your fiance should be able to hold on to her tourist visa until she receives the appointment for the K1 Fiance Visa interview in Bangok. That process usually takes 6 - 8 months. She will have to return to Thailand then because she can not get interviewed at a USCIS location here in the US. Also, keep in mind that during the K1-Visa process she will have to go for a medical checkup and vaccine at Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangok.

  9. "Our very own credit card! Yay!" is all that the farmers can think of. With little or no prior debt management responsibility and a new "toy" is like having a fat kid at a candy store. 7% seems like a small figure doesn't it? Until it piles up... wonder where the collected interest is going to?

That is easy.... the collected interest is going to the Shinawatra Family to compensate them for the seized 46 billion baht of frozen assets :whistling:

  10. I think it is a good thing to have the full body scanners installed, it will help to narrow down and identify drug smuggeling in and out of the country.

Yes, it will add waiting time for passengers for sure, but this is the same with any airport in the US and Europe. 2 weeks ago my waiting time for security scanning at Kennedy airport in New York took way over 1 hour.

  11. 'Bhanu Inkhawat, the creative director at the Thai clothing brand Greyhound, says copying products simply corrupts the creator's initial idea and renders it almost meaningless.'

I don't think anyone has the power to control what is beeing sold in bazaars and street corners. Those fake designer items will be available just like the 'Hillfigers', Calvin Kleins' and 'Ralph Laurens'
