  1. Same question as

    sfmadison2

I have a double entry visa. My first entry expires on friday, so I planned to do the Mae Sai-Tachilek crossing tomorrow thursday to activate second entry and return to Chiang Mai the same day. I already have my busticket :-) I did it last year without any trouble.

Is this still an option or is it ruled out? And what are the other possibilities?

I could do an extention at Immigration Office. But a 30 day extention is a few days short of my stay, because I'm leaving om june 3rd. And then I'll have to do the borderrun anyway, just for a few days.

Best option for me is to activate my second entry, but how do I take care of this now? I have to be back by the weekend :-)

    Thanks for your advice.

I am pretty sure the OP is talking about something completely different, a "VIP" pass into Burma, which I guess is some sort of "Day Trip" pass similar as to what the Thai's use.

I am sure this has nothing to do with your actual Tourist Visa.

Someone will come along shortly to confirm.

Hmm, you may be right, and I may have misunderstood the situation.

So just to confirm, to the best of people's knowledge, is the Mae Sai border still open for people wanting to pop across, do some shopping, and then come back and activate the second entry of their tourist visa?

If this turns out to be the wrong place to ask this, apologies and I can start a new thread.

  2. I have a Non O immigrant visa based on retirement. My funds will have been in my account for 60 days in a few days time. I will apply for the 1 year extension. I have the TM7 filled in already. Do i need to take any other documents with me when applying for the extension other than this? Updated bank book? Letter from bank? Thanks in advance for clarification.

  3. I've just converted my tourist visa to a non '0' visa with a view to getting the one year extension based on retirement. I have to wait till mid April for the 60 days to elapse on the 800,000 in my bank account before applying for the extension. I need to go outside Thailand twice before that date and am aware that i can do this with 2 single re-entry permits. However i was thinking of getting a multiple re-entry to cover me for these and additionally for any trips i may make during the one year extension period. Is this possible or will i need to get a new permit when i receive the extension?

  4. I went to the British Embassy last week. They will issue a document certifying a passport for 1560 baht or a document certifying your passport and confirming your address in Thailand (as currently being requested by Thai banks for opening a new account) for 2800 baht. Regarding the latter don't bother taking the Bangkok Bank form you can download from their website as British Embassy won't accept it.

  5. Thanks Ubonjoe. Clear now. Regarding the confirmation of identity and address i was also asked for this document by 2 branches of the Bangkok Bank when i tried to open an account with them a couple of weeks back, though this wasn't asked for at another bank where i eventually opened an account. B Bank showed me a sample letter from an embassy which just said ... this is to confirm Mr ... passport and address.... .

  6. Firstly,I'm British citizen over 50 years old. I have funds at a Thai bank wellover the prescribed 800,000. I currently have a tourist visa with 45 days remaining. I need to convert my tourist visa to a non 'o' and then to a 1 year extension based on retirement. What is the current procedure for this and what documents are currently required? On contacting immigration at CW the information i was given wasn't clear and i was told i needed a letter from my embassy confirming my identity (passport) and address in Thailand. I've checked old threads on this subject and can't find any reference to this document. What exactly is the title of this document? Which embassy department do i obtain it from? and how much does it cost?

One further question .... I currently have my funds in a GBP savings account at a Thai bank. Can i use this or do i need to convert into Thai baht?
