  1. you know top charoen optician; have shops everywhere, blue and white branding always seem to have short skirted female staff sitting in the window and hardly ever any customers.

i often wondered how they made any money and suspected they may be a front for money laundering.

i was dating a thai lawyer last year and mentioned this to her, she said they had been investigated for exactly these activities but cleared.

i still dont know how they make any money...

I bought glasses from top charoen in Phon Charoen. They charged a fortune but I needed them. Their price was comparable if not more expensive than farangland. And it wasn't a case of "hit the farang", my Thai wife was with me and prices were marked.

I am guessing if they sell 1 pair a week they have made their money.

The marked prices are purely notional in Thai opticians. Most Thais normally know this, so I am afraid your wife was not savvy enough to realise this. I have often bought marked price glasses at a half or less of the marked price, after some bargaining. But when farangs do pay the marked prices, then it makes their day and shows the pricing strategy is worth it.....laugh.png You probably paid double what the average Somchai would have paid for same pair. whistling.gif
She's savvy. Phon Charoen isn't exactly a large town. She has known the girl since school. We got them at the right price. Everyone knows what top charoen are like.

I always wondered about that Top Chaeron place with all those pretties.

Do you get a boom boom with those expensive eye glasses I wonder?

  2. all you need is a bed, a shower and food.

    everything else is Luxus.

you can start living with 6000 baths a month.

what you got for 6k in UK?

Id argue even a bed and a roof are superfluous. Nothing wrong with fresh air and the open road. So you say 6000 a month. Nonsense. I can live quite nicely on half that.

Agree. For an occasional splurge or an emergency expense you can always dig thru a dumpster for bottles/cans and take them to a recycler.

  3. I'd like to see the Police turn this guy loose on the jet ski gang.

It would be mayhem down there, like a scene out of a Rambo or Terminator. Jets skis exploding and the beach littered with bodies.

I'll take back every mean thing I ever said about him if he can pull it off.wai2.gif

  4. Back in the States, at the Building Superstore the staff would hide. I knew that store better than anyone after some time.

If I needed help, just climbed on of those tall ladders, reaching out for some supplies up on a high shelf. The staff do a 100 yard dash instantly. I guess the insurance company has them scared shitless.

An insiders tip on how to get instant help in the USA.

  5. Theyre all persons who could never get in the police, fire, or military. Now they are trying to live their dream with inflated heads and a bulge in the pants. untrained and dangerous. Sorry bunch.

Yea, he looks bit too gung-ho to be accepted in a professional force back home.

Wouldn't it hilarious if a camera crew followed him around for a "Day in the Life" type show? I bet he would go for it. Really get into it. Probably even knock down or tackle a foreign motorbike rider on 2nd road for the cameras.

And the best part, he wouldn't even know it was a comedycheesy.gifcheesy.gif

  6. GW Bush deleted 5 million emails, NO?

And what about Jeb Bush. It's been revealed he used private emails too.

Looks like many of the conservative candidate are also guilty.

"GW Bush deleted 5 million emails, NO?

NO! He nor anybody in his administration deleted 5 million emails.

Jeb Bush was a Governor, not the Secretary of State. He had no access to classified documents. A huge difference.

As usual, you don't have a clue what you are writing about.

    Dont post nonsense.

From my post of 11:12 today on the other Clinton email thread:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The "loss" of the emails was temporary in nature and marked up to an Archiving mistake. All of them were located and turned over to the appropriate agency.

We should be so lucky with the missing Clinton emails. Since they are being vetted by the Clinton legal team, a complete turnover is hardly to be expected.

Like I said earlier too. "The shows over folks, move along, nothing to see."

Just another desperate attempt at a fabricated scandal.

I guess they believe Hillary is so powerful, they can't win....they know they have no chance vs Hillary so expect more fabricated outrage on that fake news channel about Hillary.

I haven't watched lately. Are they going 24/7 Hate Hillary 2016 now?

  7. tonight I move to Marriott. ,... I like being a minimalist and be in nice place and have a great life....

you should look at my swimming pools!!

They make a nice burger in there. Maybe the best in Pattaya. You can order in the lobby bar and enjoy then patio overlooking the gardens and pool. Nice.

And my compliments to the manager. He hires the cute ones.

  8. Since a bunch of republicans are now also being dragged into this with their emails the conservatives are 'walking it back' and now the headline is:

"Muslim Brotherhood Using Hillary's Email Account."

This is silly stuff. Surprised the conservatives are posting links to all these goofy websites. Really goes to show the mindset of some people. That's their approach to winning the US Presidential election? Sad.

... ding dong ding dong ding dong

  9. Yes there was a topic about this dude not so long ago.

He could be used in a movie involving Nazi's, just change the uniform and he will blend right in.

Well there are many volunteer police/immigration expats and I salute the guys helping at the police stations on beach road and in Banlamung and on walking street and at Immigration.

They can help tourists/expats in problems, translating and sometimes quiet them down.

But standing on the street and whistle/flag down everybody not a Thai on a scooter/bike don't impress me at all.

Yes, he'd be good in a Nazi role or maybe a US Marine boot camp sergeant or death row executioner.

He does looks like his head is about to explode. Maybe it's just the tight outfit? Way too serious about his job.

The Thai cops must really get a laugh watching this guy running out in traffic "showing them how it's done."

  11. I have sympathy for the disabled. Especially the ones that are lulled into a false sense of security at a Beach Road signal.

Thai MiniVan drivers, and speeding Busses barreling on thru, dodging pedestrians and 'shooting the gap' between the disabled in the wheelchairs.

Just turn off those dangerous signals. They just confuse people.

Is that what you want? Confused pedestrians walking in front of speeding MiniVans and busses.

  12. After months of nothing but a coming soon sign, I see there is large plastic Foodland sign that has recently been placed on the site, Good news, I hope.

Let's hope soon, because the nearby Food Mart staff nearby are miserable.

I get the feeling that all those customers are ruining their nice quiet afternoon. They will be pleased when all their customers go elsewhere I'm sure.
