  1. Let me give it a shot. However, it has been months since I last done a translation.

It's something along the line of "We/I expect ourselves/myself to know where we/I stand (in a relationship), how far we/I can go (in a relationship). In the end, we/I can only be someone who come and pass through their/his/her lives, just like everyone else.

The context is not clear because this could refer to a friendship or an adult relationship, and it could be a general statement or a statement about her feeling about the end result of her expectation.

To give an example, the person writing it might be expecting that she could be more than just a friend to this particular person, but in the end she is just like another other person passing through that person's life.

  2. oops! I was not being clear about my explanation.

To get the additional two baht, you need to use the new receipt on the day itself.

Today (17/12/15), you went to buy things that cost you 80 baht. You got the receipt dated 17/12/2015 with two points. You must use this receipt on the same day itself or immediately to buy two cans of tuna in order to get the additional two baht discount, and the purchase must be made between 0700-2359hr. If you did this, your tuna will cost you 38baht each. However, if you were to use the same receipt dated 17/12/2015 to buy your tuna on any date after 17/12/2015, your tuna will cost you 40 baht each.

I'm not sure about the 'N' beside the price of the banana. It could be what you said. You can test out your theory by buying item(s) that cost you 32 baht and the 8 baht banana. If you still get 1 point, then your theory is not correct.

  3. The usual price of your tuna per can is 46baht. To get it at 40baht, you need to show them the receipt where it states that you have point(s). 1 point = 1 privilege = 1 product at special price. Can you see the word แลกซื้อ? It means that you have to use points from your receipt to get it at a special price.

You can get a further 2 baht discount. However, there's a catch. There are three rules you have to know:

    1) Every 40 baht in a single receipt, except for non-particpating products, nets you 1 point. If you pay by 7-card, you get 2 points for every 40 baht instead.

    2) If you use the points to get items at a special price, that item will not be counted towards calculating your points. For example, your tuna cost you 46 baht usually. You use your previous receipt to get the tuna at a discount of 40baht. However, your receipt will show zero point even though you bought stuff worth 40baht.

    3) Additional 2 baht applies only between 0700-2359hr, and only applies to item above 20 baht.

    Let's create a scenario:

On the 20th December, 9am, you went to 7-11 to buy things that cost you 80 baht. You have 2 points on your receipt. If you were to use that receipt immediately to buy two can of tunas, you will get to enjoy two cans of tuna at 38 baht each instead.

As for your question about your banana, I don't know what to say except that it looks like it is definitely worth more than 10 baht.

  4. To add on to what the above poster has wrote, every 40bahts nets you one point. You can use the points to get discount on selected items. Like DP25 mentioned, the two cans of tuna that you bought probably require you to use whatever points you have or whatever condition(s) 7-11 set. If you want to pursue this matter further, you can take photo of the tunas on discounts so that we can help you to decode the terms and conditions applied.

Unless you have Thai nationality, you can forget about winning the trip to Japan.

  5. In the context of using symbols to represent sounds in English, I agree that k and g are distinct sounds.

However, we are crossing into the reality of another language, and as we know, transliteration are not perfect. If you were to look at the transliteration used by RTGS or ISO 11940-2 (an ISO standard for a simplified transcription of Thai language into Latin characters.), you will notice that as an initial consonant:

    ก is transliterated as k, whereas ข ฃ ค ฅ ฆ is transliterated as kh.

This is the standard used by many books to transliterate Thai language, even though their way of transliteration comes into conflict with what we have learned from the English language system.

If you want to accelerate your vocabulary learning rate, you can look up the antonyms(if applicable) of the words that you are learning, and you would have easily doubled your number of words learned per day. For example: Love/Hate:รัก/เกลียด Like/Dislike: ชอบไม่ชอบ etc.

  6. Actually, there is no right or wrong way to transliterate or romanise Thai words. There are quite a number of systems used to transliterate Thai language, if you have noticed. The best method that ensures everyone has a common understanding on how to transliterate one language to another language is by using IPA because its symbols are meant to represent the sound of languages. Looking at the way you romanize thai words, I guess you are using Benjawan Poomsan Becker's transliteration system?

  7. The photo in the facebook is pretty graphic. This is a warning to those who want to click the link.

    It says that :

"The stepfather, who is a Burmese, killed his stepdaughter while the mother is away.

If you want the stepfather to be given the death penalty, then like this page.

The stepfather shouldn't be allowed to live on earth.

    Let's curse this guy together.

  8. Definition of อาหารเจ

    - Vegan diet plus some buddhist belief that restrict certain food like onions or garlic to be eaten.

    - Has its origin from Chinese

    - Eaten during vegetarian festival

    - Has strict preparation method

    Definition of อาหารมังสวิรัติ

    - Does not include buddhist belief or restriction on certain plant-based food

    - Has sub categories for examples: lacto-ovo-vegetarian, pescatarian or ovo-vegetarian

With that being defined, someone who follows the way of veganism are called วีแกน. I guess that no such definition of "vegan" (a person who does not eat or use animal products) existed in Thai language. This is why a direct transliteration of vegan was used.

It might be confusing because เจ is translated as vegan , however its definition includes buddist belief. However, วีแกน lifestyle is free from buddist belief, and it follows the definition of vegan as stated above.

  9. "When for example I have 300 motorbike taxis calling me how would I say maybe later for example? KOB kun krap for your answers guys"

Based on the above example that you've given, I will walk past them without saying anything, and it's not because I'm rude. At most, I would just say "ไม่เป็นไรครับ".

In your post, what does "bang tee" mean? Does it mean "perhaps"?

Maybe you can give a few more situational examples that you encountered so that the people here can recommend you a more accurate phrase to use.

  10. ขอดูภาพกล้องวงจรปิดวันที่ 5 เดือนนี้ ระหว่างเวลา 11 โมงเช้าถึงบ่ายโมงหน่อยได้ไหมครับ

I assume that you are requesting for video footage from CCTV.

  11. Redfan has got all the main points right, I believe. However, I still want to give it a shot as well.

I will translate the picture first.

If you don't think you can do it, then don't give your words. If you think that it's troublesome, then don't promise.

เสียความรุ้สึก (To be in a bad mood)

    คนพูดรับปากจะทำ จะให้

People who promise (to do something or to someone) will do it and will give (what he promised).

    (ทำไม่ได้ รึ ไม่คิดที่จะทำ) ไม่รุ้

(Whether that person is unable to do it or never thought of doing it) I don't know.

    แต่ที่รุ้ๆคือ

But what I do know is

    คนฟังมันรอ

Those who has been given the promise will wait.

    อย่าคิดว่าที่เค้าไม่พูด ไม่ถาม

Don't think that just because I didn't say anything or I didn't ask anything,

    ไม่ได้แปลว่าลืม

It doesn't mean that I have forgotten about it.

    แค่เค้าจะคอยดูว่าคุณจะรับปากไปพล้อยๆอีกนานแค่ไหน

Just that I will wait and see how long you will continue to promise freely/thoughtlessly.

    ถึงเค้าจะคุยกับคุตลอดก้เหอะ!!

Even though I will continue to talk with you.

  12. 1st:

    คิดถึงพี่สาวจัง!!กลับมาไวๆนะพี่..น้องรอของฝากอยู่นะ..อิอิอิ!!!

I miss you (my elder sister) a lot. Please come back soon. I'm waiting for my present/gift/souvenir. Hehehe.

    2nd:

    ขอบคุณทุกคำ,อวยพรนะครับ!!

Thank you for your well wishes.

    ขอบคุณที่ยังไห้ความสุขทางใจกับผมทุกคน!!

Thank you for wishing me happiness.

    และขอขอบคุณพี่นะที่พาไปกินสเต็กนุ่มๆเค็กหวานๆ..ขอบคุณที่ไม่ลืมผมนะครับ!!

Thank you (someone who is senior/older than the poster) for bringing me to eat the steak which is tender, and the sweet tasting cake. Thank you for not forgetting about me.

  13. งั้นก้อเเรดอย่างมีสติ

If that's the case, then be bitchy/smug/overly confident but with self restraint.

    ไม่กล้า

    I dare not.

    ไม่มั่นใจ ภาษาก้องูๆง่อยๆ

I'm not confident. My (I suppose English) language is not good.

    เหย มันต้องกล้าๆ

Hmph.. You have to be daring.

    แปปนะแก

    Give me a minute.

    สังขยานาห้องก่อนเด่วผุ้ชายมาพรุ่งสี้

Let me สังขยานา room first. My man is coming tomorrow.

I can't really translate the word แรด in this context because what I understand is that this word has a negative meaning, and is usually used to scold a woman.

For example, If one guy has a girlfriend, and even though the third party knew about it and she is willing to be his mistress or "gik", then we can say that this woman is แรด.

As for สังขยานา, I don't know how to translate it. สังขยา means egg custard, but it seems out of place in this context. The person could have mispelt it or it's another slang that I have not come across before. Looking at the context, I believe that she is going to clean her room because her man is coming tomorrow.

As usual, there must be someone who can do a much better translation than me.

*Edit: a quick check shows that the correct spelling is สังคายานา, which means to sort out. Forget about the egg custard.

  14. Before this, I have nothing... But, now I have Su

    (I) miss Su บาดหย่าง.. Whoever I am/What kind of person I am, I am that type of person you see now

That type of person means someone who is genuinely gullible เนยเอ้่ย (probably asking for agreement like "right?" but in a more gentle/poetic way?)

I don't know how to translate the words in thai alphabet, but it shouldn't affect the meaning of the sentence. Anyway, this is how I interpret the meaning.

I can be wrong. So, I hope someone else reading this can come in and translate this as well.

  15. Let me give it a shot. The facebook posts have a lack of spacing, and it seems that there are replies from more than two persons. If there is appropriate spacing, I will be able to translate better. However, this is no excuse because if my Thai is really good, I'm unlikely to be confused by the lack of spacing.

Anyway, I believe Mole can do a much better job.

Note: Sentences which I don't know how to translate will be bold. Sentences which I don't know how to translate but I decided to guess anyway will be italic.
