  1. A couple of years ago I had a Thai company registered as I intended manufacturing some of my inventions here.

Time marches on and that has not happened unfortunately.

My lawyer informs me that it will cost 20k baht to close the company down!

As I am moving on from Thailand after 25 interesting years my thought is why not just move on and let it go and save the money.

    Is the company worth anything?

It cost a heap to establish.

It has never traded so is a clean skin.

    Sole Falang director.

Anyone have experience or thoughts on this?

All helpful comments would be much appreciated.

  2. I rent a nice house in Pathum Thani for 5000baht a month.

Covered car park. Three bedroom, two bathroom aircond main bedroom. Two storey.Recently painted inside.

A nice area and quiet apart from the local dogs going bonkers for 10 minutes or so most nights.

Owner wants 1 mil for it but why buy?

Have a car but only 10 mins to Costco etc. Twenty mins to Future Park.

Would cost $400 pw in Oz.

    Does me.

Have had some mind boggling experiences in the past with the Thai attitude to selling a property. As a result I never did it and happy I didn't.

  3. I arrived in Swampy on the 4/7/15 from Oz on a retirement visa, my passport is stamped to 11/6/16.

My question is do I have to do the 90 day thing every three months or do I do nothing util the 12 months expires.

In other words just relax and enjoy being here until then?

Prior to this I was on the 90 day renewal tourist visa.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  4. Hi all.

Going back to Oz on Thursday for a month or so.

I have an no 'O' retirement visa which is due for renewal on the 11/6/15.

As I understand it I have to have the renewal before I leave Thailand. and a re-entry permit.

My question is can I go to Immigration in Chaeng Watthana tomorrow,Tuesday and get it done then and there?

Any fee invelved, silly question I guess and if so how much.

Thanks in advance to the brains trust.

  5. Srtramit?Sounds as if you are an Aussie.

Slab and blocks specs are not too important but the roof structure is as you will have a HEAVY wet load to cope with.

Without getting in to really big rafter/purlin sizes you will need a centre support fo give a 3m max. span.

This is for a light weight roof material ie gal iron of some sort. Low pitch would need a Stramit/cliplok style materia. But I do not see how you can use the sort of cover material/system you are contemplating for it.

Metal 'c' sections are the light and cheap way to go. Readily avalable here too.

If you use pre cast concrete panels for the roof an effective waterproof membrane will be needed as well as a cast insitu or precast concrete beam system. Get an engineer to look at this as strength is crucial.

If heat control is the aim you are going to be better off using a good insulating system under a light weight roof.

    Hope it helps.

  6. India? Bali? Not mentioned but the most religious people I have seen.

I am sure there are others too more observant of their beliefs than Thailand.

Thai 'Buddhism' is a very debased version of his teachings I think.

Having said that, I see Thais as living closer to the concept of 'good' and happiness than any other country I have lived in. Which is a few now. One of the reasons I am here.

Christians and Muslims too in the main are the same as far as I can see. Good ideas gone bad.Universally, money is the god we are all most faithful to.
