  1. my wife and myself are often in Bangkok and yes we had some problems with getting a Taxi in China Town and Bobae Tower but we either wait for a while or get a public bus to the next MRT or Sky Train Station (our hotel is near a MRT station). The main reason, I think is the traffic jams at certain times and certain places. This is not only a Farang problem as it happens to Thais as well. We do not have had often the problem that a taxi driver did not use the meter. If this happens, than my wife kindly reminds him to switch on the taxi meter as he may have forgotten it.

  2. I am 48 years old and I currently study Business English. Most of my lessons are in English but unfortunately some are not. The lesson in Thai are Self Skill development and Thai Culture but I am lucky because the teachers are very friendly and understandable and one Thai Student explains it to me after the lesson.

I am in my first year and really enjoy it. I am not a native English speaker but for me the course is, so far, not difficult for me.

I really can recommended this course and also encourage you to study here in Thailand.

I pay approx. 26.000 baht a year which the Thai student also have to pay. No difference between Farang and Thai..

Also the visa is done by the University. The Immigration Officer even comes to the University to give me the one year visa.

To study, was a good decision for me. I am not sure if all Universities are like this but my current University supports me in any issue or problems I have. I get on very well with the student and they respect me and some are good friends.

Here some negative points because not everythings is perfect

    - some lessons in Thai

    - taking part in activities not related to learning business English like cleaning a temple once which I refused to do, sing a song which I will do soon.

    - thinking and behavior of some students

    - future subjects are learning basic Korean and Chinese

I do apologize for my English but my grammar and vocabulary is not very good.

  3. it seems like that each Immigration office does it differently. I am in the lucky position that I study at a Goverment University and all the paper work is done by the University. The Immigration even comes to the University and issues the visa.I only have to hand in my passport (because the papers they already have from the University) and usually have a little nice chat with the Immigration lady officers. It seems that it can also be easily handed but some immigrations are maybe more difficult.

By the way. I just got my visa for one year and only have to submit an online form every 90 years which even my University will remind me a week before I have to do it.

I am happy to have chosen this visa option because I also like to study for a few hours a week and I am already 48.

  4. I am here on an Education visa. If they want to check me than they are welcome but the next Immigration is 3 hour driving from where I live. Unfortunately, I have to see them once a year for my annual personal reporting which is next month. I am sure there will be some surprises like asking strange questions and checking my papers. My wife who is a lawyer will be with me and I am sure my papers will be sufficient and correct. My immigration office is in Nan, I am sure the visa will be more strict and less expats and tourist will come to Thailand due to this behavior. The visa regulation changes since the Goverment has changed last year is unbelievable and does not make sense most of the times.

  5. Hello

I am 47 and therefore under the age of an retirement visa.

I am studying business English at a Government University and can stay as long as I study which could mean forever. The Education visa for a Government University is slightly different than to an Education Visa for a private language school. I do not need to leave the country and there is no limit on my visa as long as I study at the University. Studying only involves a few hours a week and is also fun. I also do not need to go to the Immigration Office except on the first time. Every 90 days I do my report via post and the University does all the relevant documentations needed to obtain a visa or to extend a visa. This, I am sure, is also possible at a University in Chiang Rai.
