  1. Thanks Starky,

Should I go to the Thai Smile office at Chiang Mai Airport to pay for the dog? and when is the latest I should leave it until I go? Think a week is ok?

What up to date papers do I need other than the vaccination certificates?

I looked at the Smile class... looking at about 15,000 baht to Surat Thani not including the dog... but I'd pay it if I knew it would be trouble free and fast.

    Thanks Starky

  2. Hi,

I have heard so many stories of people saying they can take a small dog breed as carry on, on flights within Thailand... but I keep reading on the airline website that you cannot.

Can someone please give me a clear answer on this?

Is it really as simple as calling the airline? or talking to the airline at the airport a week or so before planned travel.

My dog is a toy poodle of 5 months old (so the dog is very small).

The flights I have in mind will be at least Chiang Mai to Bangkok and if possible Bangkok to Surit Thani.?

I would much prefer to take it as carry on due to the age of the dog specifically.

    Thank you

  3. Thanks for ya info Starky,

I have decided to do the thing I didn't want to do.. but is by far the most practical (with moving house and all). I think I'm just going to drive, from Chiang Mai down to Surat Thani, via Chumphon. I am a lil nervous about driving in the cities though but once I get out of the hustle and bustle of the city I think I will be fine. The distance is not a worry to me, as I drive that far all the time..

Hopefully the dog handle the trip.

  4. I am moving house from Chiang Mai to Chumphon in about 1 month.

Does anyone have any recommendations of how to travel with my 5 month old miniature poodle?

The dog has not/ will not be crate trained in time. So a plane probably isn't a great idea.

I have heard that you can take a small dog on the train...is this true?? (and what class do I have to take)

Or to hire a driver Chiang Mai to Bkk, then Bkk to Chumphon (approx cost?)

or a last resort of hiring a car and driving...

Or is there a recommended pet transport company in Chiang Mai that could take the puppy to Bangkok? from where I can organise it to be taken down south from there...

    Thanks

    Thanks

  5. Hi,

My situation is that I work in Australia for 2/3 of the year and live in Thailand for 1/3 of the year. I fit into the Australia resident for tax purposes but I am wondering exactly what I put for my Residential address when doing my Tax. I have a post box in Perth but no residential address anywhere. I urgently need help with this as I need the cash. I have already completed my E-tax but have not sent it to the ATO yet due to the residential address concern.

should I put a family address? my old address, my work address (where I live for 2/3 of the year) or my Thailand address?

    Thanks

  6. hi,

I am wondering if it matters what address I put as my residential on a Thailand Visa application, when lodged in Australia?

I Live in Thailand but think it maybe a bad idea to put the Thai address? is this right?

my life would be a lot easier if I could put an address in WA where I used to live and still work but I am worried the passport and visa will be returned to my old address... can I get it sent to a different address (PO Box) than what I will say I reside at in WA? Can I say I live on a mine-site (which I do)

OR should I get it sent to my parents address in NSW and get them to send it back to my Post office post pox in Perth? which means I will have to send it from Perth to Canberra Thai Embassy to country NSW back to Perth (premium express post) within 10-11 weekdays :(

    Thanks

    Mick

  7. Hi guys I have a few more questions, as I would prefer to get it right the first time.

I was planning on going back to Thailand in 2 weeks (but I will push that forward to 5 and weeks to get visa, as I wont be able to post the application for at least another week from now).

    - So to apply for the visa I must send both a copy of my passport ID page and the entire passport?

    - Send a money order for actual visa bought at Australia post and send in an Express Post Platinum sachel?

    - A copy of my employment details and salary? (as a back up)

    - And a a copy of my flights itineraries... There is only one problem with all of this.

Due to a stupid policy by the company I work for with Salary sacrifice, my flights are not booked as a return flight from Australia but a return flight from Chiang Mai.

Do you think I should call the airline to split up the flights (if even possible) or just send off the itineraries with the visa?

i.e. my next flights are CM-KL return and KL-Perth return x 2 trips. - Because they may look at this as ask why I do not have a return flight to Perth at the end of the visas.

sorry for so many questions I am just concerned about it all now.

    thank you :)

  8. Wow.. I am so grateful for your fast replies.

Do you you think I should get a copy of my employment in Australia and put it in my lodged visa application or should I lodge a visa and take the proof of work in Australia for when I next come through Immigration...or both?

next break I am planning on flying my gf from Thailand to Malaysia for my week off... but I'd honestly just refer to go home..not going to risk any entry problems in the future until I get it right.

I am actually in need of a new passport anyway, but I have been told the system resets if i have a new passport.. is this true?

  9. I am an Australian citizen that lives in Thailand for 4 - 5 days out of every 3 weeks. Just hours ago I got taken aside at the International airport immigration and was told that I am not allowed to visit Thailand more than 6 times a year without a visa lodged in Australia as the laws have changed? They also asked for photos of my Thai partner and photos of my work. I work in mining in Australia but they suspect I work in Thailand? I was told if i don't have a visa next time i arrive then i am banned from entering Thailand forever? (I assume the forever part is just a scare tactic). I have asked around and no one has heard of this new law? How recent is it? Is it actually a new rule or have a been shafted somehow?

I don't have a problem with getting a visa for a few months but I do have a problem being told at short notice that if I don't get a visa in Australia before I come back I will be banned from entering the country.

    Thanks
