I arrived at Thai Immigration with several days remaining on my then Visa Exemption, stamped out, crossed the bridge, then processed through Laos Immigration.
An hour later, I found a taxi, stamped out of Laos via the driver, crossed back over the bridge and to Thailand Immigration.
It's there where it appears I received an entry stamp only to have it cancelled at the same time. The officer suggested leaving by air or applying for a proper visa outside the country.
The embassy was closed due to a holiday and my options seem to include getting a flight out of the country and or applying for a visa, as I was told.

I'm in Thailand. The new stamp with today's date and valid for 30 days has 'CANCELLED' within the stamp. Above the stamp is marked 'W-30' in black ink.

I've just crossed the Laos/Thai border and was informed that I had used the allowed number of visa exemption entries and would need to obtain a proper visa outside the country. As it's a holiday weekend the embassies are closed. The I/O was polite but firm.
My passport has the stamp showing the date with an exit date for next month with 'CANCELLED' stamped in blue over it. The same for the TM6.
As I apparently don't have a visa, what is my status? Am I on overstay?
Is a cancelled stamp a red flag in the future?
Note: I have all but used up my visa pages. Maybe it's time for a new passport.

The airport office is where I do my residence certificate updates. I noticed last week that there were lots of people doing their 90 days as well.
Thanks for the help, UJ.

It looks as though that's what happened-visa exemption was given to me. The tourist visa sticker is untouched-normally, it is voided or scribbled over upon entry. I'm in Chiang Mai, so I'll need to take care of it on Monday. Which Immigration office should I use-airport or Promenada?

I've just returned from Vientiane with a new tourist visa and I notice that immigration stamped my passport with only 30 days. I've gotten tourist visas in the past in Vientiane and Seoul and was given 60 days upon entry.
Am I missing something?
Thanks.

I just received my new US passport from the consulate in Chiang Mai. $110 and was processed in a week. Additional pages are no longer available, but the new passport has more pages.
The consulate in CM is fast and friendly. No pictures of the new president-as some people have asked!

I'm planning a quick turnaround trip and considering Myanmar. Leave Bangkok in the morning and return the same day. It appears that a transit visa is available but the details are unclear. Has anyone done this recently? U.S. passport-first time to Myanmar.
Thanks.

You can extend your tourist visa at immigration for 1900 Baht. Also, flying to Udon Thani and taking a minivan to the Laos border may save you money. Changing Baht to US Dollars will save as well.

I've done two extensions at Promenada recently and have arrived after 2pm as to avoid the potential lines. I was in and out in about 40 minutes each time.

I will need to check. I brought several different sizes, but none were accepted. The background is now blue as well. Not surprisingly, there's a shop next door to immigration that lightened my wallet 200 Baht for 6 photos. We'll see how long these last...

I went to Promenada in CM yesterday. There is a new information form to fill out and yet another new format for photos. Copies: 6 Baht, photos: 200 Baht, extension of visa exempt: 1900 Baht. I arrived at 3pm and was out by 3:40. I've been told that the office near the airport doesn't handle extensions any more. Be sure to have your Thai address as that is an area to be scrutinized.

The visa exemption can be extended at an immigration office for an additional 30 days for 1900 Baht.

I entered Thailand from the Laos border last week and was asked if 30 days was ok. I said yes, and was stamped in. It was my first visa exempt and was flying on a domestic flight out of Udon Thani. I'm from a G-7 country.

They were wrong. Check here of for the requirements shown in the IATA database. https://www.klm.com/travel/kz_en/prepare_for_travel/travel_planning/travel_clinic/visaform.htmThe Thai Embassy in Seoul requires an inbound flight to Thailand, but not an outbound. However, the airline at Incheon asked for proof of onward travel. Immigration in Bangkok had no questions at all.
Indeed. One or all of the various entities may very well be wrong. However, this seems to be a common experience. Perhaps those in charge are unfamiliar with a website sponsored by KLM.

Update on Tourist Visa extension-I arrived at Promenada at 2:30 and was out by 3pm. I was asked for a specific address and showed them a business card in English/Thai of a local hotel. Parking was easy and there is a shop that handles copies and photos a few doors down. A very smooth process.

I arrived at the border at about 7:30pm a couple of months ago on a Wednesday-it was very quiet and about two or three IOs working. I caught what seemed like the last bus across the bridge, but who knows.

Is proof of residence required to extend a Tourist Visa? If so, what will suffice?
-
Are tourist visa extensions in Chiang Mai processed at Promenada or the old building near the airport? There seem to be conflicting reports. Also, is this a case of getting in line very early on a Monday morning?
Thanks.

I got a double entry in Seoul before the change to singles only. Passport copies, photos, application, cash (in Won), and a copy of my itinerary for the flight TO Thailand, not out.
Dropped off everything in the morning, picked up my passport the next day.
The consulate is in Hannam-Dong, which is a quick walk if you're staying in Itaewon.
Pretty painless.

Flying to Udon Thani then crossing the bridge-the same in reverse for the trip back.

Hi all,
Aside from passport copies, photos, and a completed application, are there additional requirements for a single entry tourist visa? What is the actual cost of the visa at the Embassy and is Thai Baht accepted?
Also, will the Embassy or Immigration need to see an onward ticket out of Thailand or proof of funds?
Thanks for the help!

My question is referring specifically to flying within the country and landing in Udon Thani. Unless I'm mistaken, clearing overstays at an airport are not permitted when flying domestically.

The Thai embassy in Seoul has been a great experience in the past for a single entry tourist visa. No lines, light document requests-simple and straight forward.
I made the trip last week and maybe it was just an off-day. Very busy in a sort of frantic way. There now is a checklist of documents that is highlighted depending on nationality and group size. My TM30 wasn't accepted and they asked for a copy of my lease agreement. On top of that, cash in hand didn't matter-copies of my checking account statement were asked for.
For a 60 day tourist visa? No thanks-that's unreasonable. I collected my belongings and left.
Brave new world, I guess.
