  1. On the livestream that top police / army guy whoever he is just came out the mall looking angry with a bunch of other soldiers and they all got in a car and drove off without bothering to answer any reporters' questions or even look at them

More occasional gunfire and explosions inside

  2. Not much going on so on the Thairath livestream they kill the time by bringing on some gun expert to talk us through the guns the shooter used, and they play videos from his facebook of him practicing at the range, and loop a dozen of his selfies over and over. Don't think he escaped or they would've mentioned it. No gunfire for a while

Any Thai speakers care to translate for us?

Guy says come out here, animal

    Shooter replies 'you di*k'

Guy replies 'your dad is a di*k. Gonna come and shoot me you (expletive)?

Shooter says come up here then

Guy replies nah you come here I'm right here

Shooter starts firing his gun in the distance

I applied from here, Trendy House, Bangkok, I completed the application form, my birth certificate, a translated copy of his.
The documents are no different from what you provide if you were applying in the UK.

Then some people get sent an email asking them to directly send additional documents to the UK. Some don't. It happened to me, maybe because they were suspicious about something else, like my guarantor.

OP could see if he gets lucky. He can apply without them and wait to see if he gets an email.

Both my parents passed away 25/30 years ago, I have never seen their birth certificates. I don’t remember any questions on the application form requiring parents birth certificates ?

You'd be able to apply for a certified copy if you ever needed to see them. Some people do to research their family tree. https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate

It's one of the additional documents people applying from abroad tend to get asked for, but people living in the UK and applying from there don't get asked to show it. They get sent back to you by recorded mail.

I was also asked to send lots of photos of me with the wife and child from birth to the current time, and a full color copy of the wifes' passport to prove she was in Thailand with me at the time of birth. Both additional docs people applying in the UK don't get asked for.

  6. Thanks.

Found some links from international schools here that say it's possible too.

Seems the process would be come in on tourist visa, enrol, get letter confirming enrolment from the school, leave to a consulate outside Thailand, apply for the child to be on Non-Im ED and parents to be on non-Im O dependent visas. That initial visa will be 90 days

Then to extend for one year at a time will require the paperwork again plus showing 500k baht in a Thai bank account for 30 days prior to application, 3 months prior on subsequent extensions

Read on one thread that only one parent can be a dependant, not sure if that's true? School websites say parents plural

  7. Hi,

Is it possible to get extensions of stay on the basis of supporting a non Thai child (mother is from a neighboring country and can get a long term visa).

If so how does one go about doing that, and how do they work - border runs every 90 days, indefinitely?

I'll be present at the birth (in Thailand) and have my name put on the birth certificate, but we're unmarried. Will that affect me being recognized as the legal father, and affect the visa? Will a paternity test be required in addition to simply putting my name on the birth certificate since we aren't married?

In the event I can't be present at the birth (my visa expires around that time) can I put my name on the birth certificate at a later date? What would be the procedure in that case. The mother is under the impression she won't be able to leave the hospital until I got there, i.e. cut the visa run short and flew back to Thailand.

    Thanks for any info.

  8. For example if someone booked a flight from BKK to X

Then they also decide to go to Y, at an earlier date

Is it possible to fly from Y to BKK and then get on the booked flight to X, without going through passport control. Just be in transit and proceed to the departure gate

Reason being, they're concerned about having too many visa exemption stamps already. They're going to X to get a tourist visa, and don't want to get one in Y

If it makes a difference, it's 2 different airlines

And if it's possible, I assume it's necessary to use web check in in advance and print out boarding pass for flight to X

  9. I saw some people about overstay so I thought I'd post my experience. I flew out of Don Mueang a few days ago, had no problem clearing a 2 year overstay actually they laughed when they saw the duration, and didn't ask any questions like why I did it or what I was doing in Thailand. Just relaxed, sign the form, pay the fine, take a photo and they checked I knew about the new blacklisting rules from March 20th.

I'd intended to apply for a tourist visa in Saigon but overslept. So I flew back into Don Mueang on visa waiver today.

Had 20k cash ready and a 30 day hotel reservation (on a booking site where you don't have to pay to reserve a room, and can cancel free) to show if asked, but I wasn't.

A lady took me into a back room and only asked if I had an outward flight ticket, and if I knew the upcoming new rules. Again didn't ask why or what I'm doing here. Again very relaxed.

I showed my flight ticket out for 30 days from now, I'll probably change that to 60 days and extend the visa waiver with an agent in Phra Khanong. Then switch to single entry tourist visas.

The lady also asked if I had a Thai wife, I said just a girlfriend. Then took me back to passport control and stamped me in for the 30 day waiver.
