  1. Been using BOA to transfer money for the last 5 years. Never had a problem. I set up BB as an outside the bank account, they made 2 verication deposits of a few cents each. I went back online with BOA and plugged in the test deposit amounts and that was it. I do the 3 day transfers and its $3.00 a shot.

Now this is not to be confused with Direct Deposits from like Social Security or Federal Retirement......that requires a Direct Deposit account with BB. It can only be in your name and you have to physically show up at the bank to get or transfer your money to a standard BB account to use your ATM etc.

    Hope this helps?????

  2. Tha Li is very scenic at least, and little used by farang, not much of a help I know, but please remember the office in Tha Li itself is of no use,it wasn't last time I visited,I had to go to the bridge, hope this helps good luck.

Go to the bridge????? Border run? I certainly dont want to have to do that every 90 days!!!! They have to be able to process 12 month extension of stay's??????

  3. I will be applying for my 1 year stay based on marriage and a daughter. I see that Tha Li is listed as my "Official" office of coverage but I have also seen Khonn Kaen listed as covering Chaiyaphum and have read on the boards where some xpats from Chaiyaphum have used the Korat Office. Khon Kaen and Korat are both closer to me than Tha Li. My actual location is about 50 KM due west of Chaiyaphum Center. Does anyone have expierience with this issue and can offer advise??????

    Thanks in advance,

  6. Just got my Multiple Non-Imm "O" Visa at the Consulate in Washington DC. No problems at all ....showed up on Friday in person and they FEDEX'ed my passport to me the next Tuesday.

I supplied the application, $175.00 USD, my passport, marriage certificate, bank statement, copy of my wifes ID card, copy of her house papers, and just for good measure my retired pay statement and disability statement.

There was no line at the consulate and I was in and out in 10 min.

    Hope this info helps someone????

    Take care,

    Rich :o

  7. About 3 weeks before it expires you can extend your stay for another year if you can prove a family monthly income of 40,000 Baht. You do this with Income Tax payment receipts.

Hi There. I am in a similiar situation. I have a non taxable income in my country of origin. How do I use this to qualify for the monthly income requirement?

    Thanks

Not sure about Canada but as I understand it just go to the U.S. Embassy and sign an affidavit stating my income and they notorize it. I take that to get translated and certified at the office on Wattana Rd. Thats all I will need to do. I would always bring my V.A. Disability Statement and my Armed Forces Retired Account statement with me but have nerver heard of them asking for that proof.

  8. I was wondering the best course to follow for my situation????

Currently living in U.S. Married to a Thai national and marriage registered. I have a legitimate job offer from a company in Phuket authorized to employ forign nationals, they will provide the required letters for a proper work permit. I plan on moving in January.

What is the best course to follow with regards to my Visa's? I can stay in the country for a year on an O visa but I need a B visa and work permit to work????? Just a bit confused and want to do the right thing.

    Thanks,

    Rich

You can work on an O Visa providing you have a work permit.

The Multi Entry O Visa can be stretched out to 15 months if you make your last Visa run just before it expires

I was under the impression an "O" visa based on marriage allowed for stays up to a year and can be renewed annually???? Only requirment is to report your location every 90 days?????

  10. Just got back to Patong from the airport as my flight canx. The opening in the fence to which I got into the airport had been barricaded closed by the protesters who were not so happy I was trying to escape via the same route. I did find an outbound taxi that was able to negotiate a suitable exit. I would say maybe 200 people waiting in the terminal. Like I said before my Thailand exit is not until the 7th so I had some time to lay low in Patong so thats my option. If this continues I will either rent a car or take a large mini-van to BKK. The mini-van people are making a killing right now packing about 12 bodies in a van for the 12 hour ride to BKK at 2K baht per person. Word from some locals at the airport is that there will be a Royal address to the people tonight and that will take place about the same time the airport is now "scheduled" to resume flights. The rumor is that whatever the King has to say tonight will make a huge difference on what happens with the current Prime Minister and also what happens at the airports over he next few days. Good luck to all those trying to exit Phuket.

    Best wishes,

    Rich
