You got some wrong info from somebody. I got an extension in August using the 40k baht income option.

I showed bank statements proving my income coming into the country for 12 months.

oh great. Mind me picking your brains?

Does anyone know about  renewing your 1 year VISA?

I did the whole 400K in my account for when I applied first time, 11 months ago, it expires in November but I 370,000B in there at the moment. It's been about that for a while.

Am I screwed? Or are they more lenient for when you are renewing your 1 year VISA?

If they are not what would be the best thing for me to do?

Now I have a few sources of income, well over 40K baht per month into my English account and roughly about 40K baht going into my Thai account monthly. (depends how much I transfer, sometimes it's 50K sometimes 35K)

    Thank you in advance.

The income of 40k baht is still accepted.

The 400k baht only has to be in the bank for 2 months.

When I applied for mine last year, when in the UK embassy getting some documents signed they told me the 40K income will no longer be accepted after April 2019.

If you are the legal parent (not just named on the birth certificate), and can prove an income of 40K pm or show 400K in the bank you can get a 1 year stay that can be renewed every year.

A Single Entry Non O will give you 90 days on entry. Towards the end of the 90 days you can apply for a 60 day extension. At the end of the 150 days you'll need to leave the country or apply for a 1 year extension of stay.

You should have a problem getting repeat Single Entry Non O visas from a country local to Thailand and repeating the 150 day stay.

Only if you want to get married; not to get a visa. Your priority should be to legalise your parenthood through the local Amphoe or court if you don't plan to get married to the mother anytime soon.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the 40K monthly salary has been cancelled and it's not just the 400K for 3 months.

  4. Does anyone know if the same rules apply for renewing your VISA?

You can only get a ME visa from London. Proof of funds, is not required, regardless of what is written on the website. You just need a copy of your marriage certificate and your wife’s ID/passport.

Is that true about proof of funds is not required? Is that just for the non-o visa but if you apply to extend it for the year then they want proof?

If married to a Thai you can obtain the Non Imm O ME Visa by post from the London Embassy

Valid 1 year. Each entry valid 90 days.

Why would you want to apply and travel back to the UK, when you can get the same Visa locally at Savannakhet, with no financial proof.

I'm going back to Hull for Xmas, my home town and as I said I see no financial obligation on their website hence why I asked the question.

Could you give me the Savannakhet details on how to get the visa there?

  7. For UK Citizens.

Has anyone applied for a Non-O back in UK? I just checked the Hull Thai consulate and there is no information about having X-amount in a Thai bank account. In fact the application process looks very easy, email your marriage, child's birth certificate and passport to them, they send it off to the London Embassy and then they invite you into the Hull office to get the VISA, 2-3 days apparently.

Has anyone done it there before?

  8. Ok I've just applied here is what they asked for.

    Father:

    Copy of passport

    Copy of birth certificate

    Mother

    Copy of Passport

Copy of birth certificate in Thai and translated into English

If you are married and your wife has changed her name that document Thai and English

Marriage Cert in Thai and English

    Child

Birth certificate in Thai and English

Copy of Blue book ( book of residency) Thai and English.

All must be copied in  colour and you must bring the originals. They compare the copies and translations with the originals, stamp them and give you the originals back.

    Why ??

Not saying that is not sound advice to carry it anyway but I see no reason for Thai immigration to ask for it. The birth certificate would have been part of the passport application process anyway.

I had to go to the British embassy to get my passport authenticated for when I got married, I asked someone there why when I came in the country on that passport and Thai immigration saw fit it ok then. They also had no idea why and gave me the 'we know it's stupid but that's what they ask for' eyes.

Thanks all. I think i have everything sorted now. Have an appointment at Trendy on Thursday morning and, fingers crossed, i have all my ducks in a row!

Got all the Thai documents translated, passport photos signed by a friend (teacher) so hopefully have everything done!

Thanks again for all of your help, people. have a great day!

May I jump in on this post?

I'm aware of the requirements. How do I make an appointment at the Trendy building? I've googled the passport question and keep getting diverted to the Gov website.

    Many thanks.

@Benbkk26 - If you are not familiar, you obtain a re-entry permit to keep an existing "permission of stay" valid so you can leave the country and return within the permission-of-stay period.  A single 're-entry permit' is 1000 Baht, and you would obtain it from an immigration-office within Thailand after you arrived, having been stamped in on your Tourist Visa.

The important thing to remember, is that the clock keeps running while you are gone - so you don't get any extra days / credit for time out of the country.  All that happens, is when you return, the IO will stamp the same "permitted until" date in your passport which you obtained before, when you first entered.

You can get one there, or if flying out, they can also be obtained at the airport..

    Thank you Jack, great stuff.

I'm in Bangkok for 2weeks before flying to PP for 3 days then flying back to Bangkok, so I can obtain a re-entry permit in Sukvarnbhumi airport as I'm leaving for PP Cambodia. Changwattana is a pain to get to and do but if needs must....

  12. From the Thai consulate in Hull, UK. Correction it's £135 for multiple entry and they want 6 months bank statements with £5000 in there for that period. I have a house in Bangkok and make this journey 4 or 5 times a year with tourist VISA. The workers in the consulate know me on a first name bases, I've also read it on a number of forum. It changed at the start of this year.

  13. Thank you very much Dogfish.

I'm only going for the weekend, on rugby tour in PP, so I don't really want to be distracted with getting my VISA but the same day express sounds like an option. Do you know how much that cost?

Also any idea on my first question, can I get a tourist VISA in UK and not use it until I re-enter? That would be the easiest

  14. Luckily I have a Thai Consulate 5 minutes from my house in the UK and I can get a Tourist VISA in 10 minutes costing about 1500baht £35.
I'm landing back in Bangkok next week but only for 2 weeks until I go to Cambodia for the weekend.

My question is if I get a Tourist VISA in England when I land in Bangkok can I NOT have my tourist VISA stamped but just get a normal 30day entry, stay for 2weeks, got to Cambodia for the weekend and when I arrive back in Bangkok then use my 2month Tourist VISA

I hope someone can help me out.

    Kind Regards,
