it is a waste of time indeed . you can't protect yourself from this virus.

it is all nonsense of the WHO and idiot doctors who think that the

    world is their laboratory.

you can sanitise busses and streets, you can't wipe out subway railings and

hope it will "kill the virus". those are mostly useless desperate acts.

this virus will spread around until it disapears. no mask and no quarantine will help.

That's what the German government says. Lets get over it quickly, let's gt 70 % people immunised. Better spend the money and help those who need help.

Europe is cheaper than Thailand now plus the quality is much higher, safer, cleaner, bigger portions of food, cheaper quality wine/beer/cheese, better to walk and do sightseeing, real friendly people (no fake smiles).....Thailand should be 50% cheaper to compete.

Beaches that Europe does not have. So they either need to lower the prices, or improve all what you mentioned. And rethink the policies reagarding Chinese tourists. Which won't happen.

If there's one nationality that probably won't benefit from mutiple entry visas it's the Chinese. Yes, I know there are a few exceptions but the vast majority of Chinese only travel for five days at a time and spend that time at one or two centres and very few are repeat tourists.

    I agree.

But even it is as what you said, it seems they are hoping for repeat visits.

What it does, though, it sets a certain message. Even more westerners will stay away. Why should I put up with busloads of Chinese, wars at every public spot, etc.? I think I will turn to other beautiful destinations.

Secondly, as we all know Chinese tend to favour Chinese owned hotels and restaurants. It's the same in other destinations in Asia. So why? Does anyone know?

What a load of horsesh*t. How much would the water need to rise in 30 years for BKK to be under water? Certainly a few meters. Doubt that will happen in just 30 years.

Some ground floor units may become already flooded, if the sea water raises only 10 cm. The reason is the weight of a high rise building.

Flooded also does not mean the water will come up to your chin personally. It means that key parts of the infrastructure becomes affected.

A part of a highway flooded, some power lines dysfunktional, some houses with ground water flooding in, subway tunnels 20 cm flooded, some patches of water here and there = that could mean 1/3 of a city dysfunctional.

In 1990 they predicted that the sealevel would have risen by 2 meters before 2020. Still at the same level as in 1990.

It is not at the same level as 1990. After the beginning of industrialisation, sea levels started to raise slowly.

From 1880 until today average sea levels raised by 25 cm, of that by 10 cm since 1990.

We know now, that the increase is growing exponentially, not evenly. And the predictions are still not precise but they are getting more precise with every year.

Another thing, the increase is not distributed evenly around the globe. Some cities such as Jakarta are already highly affected. Go there and watch the 1.60 m waterwalls they build. The water is a few cm below the top, of course which is partially because Jakarta is sinking.

Bangkok had far lesser floods in 1995, the first year I came for business. Scientists universally agree that Asia will be most affected.

  7. I'd like to send my sincere thanks to the OP provides here. This is really good. You provided several new aspects to my considerations. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I have to decide on a primary school in Bangkok for my 6 year old son. What I am thinking off:

    - I don't want to pave his way up with money

    - I'd rather give him the saved money later, i.e. to start a business

    - No school where kids pass all examinations bcs the parents pay the school, and later these kids are accepted by renowned universities just on basis of the name of that school.

    - The lessons should be mainly in English but certainly I don't mind him learning other languages, any language, be it Japanese, Thai, German, ... . He speaks English and Chinese well.
