  1. Can we get back to seriously answering a question?  I can't find much in the original post that warrants ridicule.. He's coming for a family holiday and looks for  a decent hotel that's not out in the boonies.. that's it.

I'd look into Rydges Amora hotel for example.

now you are being silly!! :o

actually, he did mention going on to PATTAYA, fer crissakes

OK the best hotel to stay in CM...can search for several other similar topics

or go to CM Plaza, nice place as any, good value :D

  2. Bloody hel_l. That is a very hard question. Does the cousin know ?

No my cousin dosen't know, he is clueless about this whole thing. My Dad has joked once or twice with him about her being a freelancer but it was all in jest, the only person that knows the truth is me and the girl :o

I suppose we need to know what your relationship with your cousin is like. If you are close, and care for him, then you should tell him.

I don't understand the girl though. Why would she use your laptop, and let you know what she is doing? Are there no internet cafes she could use and keep her business quiet?

  3. yes been to bangkok, pattaya,ko phangan for full moon, samui.but love the people in chiang mai and the chilled outness of it all.bangkok is great for a while but its too in ya face, loved the full moon party.didnt like pattaya too much,a bit sleazy for my liking.might try laos for a few days

Laos is nice, but the nightlife does not exist. Maybe not for you?

CM has a special charm that is well hidden

better stay in the south, as the old saying goes :o

anybody got a best bar yet?

  4. When you say that there is a vast numbers of sad individuals who are here for minor tittilation, or are internet geeks, or just hope to "score" with a bargirl.

    You mean like 60%...70%...

And what do you mean by internet geeks...I think you are rushing when posting your opinion about people writting in this forum...

I can understand his ideas about members of this forum. I have noticed a lot of posters are normal and fairly reasonable in their replies BUT....

there are a lot of posters who are very aggressive in their responses, who display a misplaced sense of superiority to those whose English is not perfect, who are very "full of themselves" and their opinions.

Unfortunate, but maybe a normal mix of people? It does tend to frighten some newbies away though, and even make more mature posters shy away. I seem to remember Bambina, for instance, being almost ready to give up.

  5. Below is Pres. George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation of 1789.  Could it be that thanks was being given to God rather than Indians?!?  I wonder why school children aren't taught that?

I have always thought that Thanksgiving was for landing safely in the new lands, and to God, of course

no indians were ever thanked as far as I know

as for Xmas, it is great in CM

the commercialisation is just a joke and the best place to be is in a bar :o

  6. we are open your eyes and keep them open as long they think there is something to get and after that you will be alone by yourself back home in mothers country and working for the dept you are in now

bitches are always one step advance you

check background first befor get to close and you will be a bit saver

    well, thank you for that.

why do you think I am working in a dept? I am not, and never will be; in fact, I would hate to be in any dept

how about you, where do you work?

  7. Got me, bleary eyed early in the morning.

I'm fully awake now, thanks GFB

Though I think I have a headache coming on.

Just hope its not something like the "Ring" and everyone that sees it will die in seven days or something like that

yes, just like the "Ring" but it takes 7 milliseconds

  8. Backpacker is a designation that totally lacks any meaning IMO. I hope you are not seriously suggesting it is useful to define people by the bag they choose to carry when travelling?

True, it may lack meaning, but the word has certain connotations which we all understand. Like young, rucksack, gap year, lonely planet, cheapest possible, etc etc...most of us have been there.

I am still a person who travels cheap around different countries and uses the LP etc, but I don't think I am referred to as a backpacker (any more). I am a budget traveller, and enjoy being one

    back to topic...

    Chiang Mai..stay south, much better

  9. [you can always spot a kraut as opposed to a brit.white socks, sandals, bum bag,sh*t haircut.

is it me or are we brits(and maybe the italians and thai's)the smartest nationality who have a bit of fashion sense.go in bubble ie and its a sea of fashion disasters and the scandinavians are desperate dressers too.personally i feel overdressed when i go out in thailand dressed as i do in leeds(england) wearing nice jeans and a shirt/t-shirt.find it scruffy going out in their attire, but thats just me.

I think it is just you!!

I was looking at your description of a "kraut" and it seemed to fit most Brits :o

anyway, what was the best bar you were going to tell us about?
