  1. Hi,

Would be grateful if any members can recommend a good company/companies for the above.

Am 58 year old Brit, residing in Thailand and wanting a reputable company that offers private hospital treatment.

I understand there are many options of cover available which I will decide which one suits me best.

Just that I have seen many advertised who all seem much of a muchness hence my request for a fellow member's recommendation.

    Many thanks

I still need not flap until 2020, given this years extn is 'in the bag' as a result of a 'pension letter' purchased just before their cut off date in December ????

So existing extensions and their associated 90 day reporting are exempt of these new intended rule changes until they get renewed the next time?

  3. Would this work?

So, you have the required 800K in the bank for the required period (2 or 3 months whatever it may be) before your retirement application.

Every 90 days you do not go to immigration, you fly off to HK/SG, wherever for a weekend.

Upon arrival back in to Thailand you are stamped in for 90 days.

90 days later repeat the above for as many times necessary throughout your 1 year's retirement extension.

Upon your new retirement application 1 year later, as it's a new application, it's just the required 800k in the bank needed to be shown for the required period before application.

  4. Hi OP,

Hopefully this will be deemed a 'proper answer'.

From previous (painful) experience the trip's itinerary does become one of their considerations for the monies available/required for the trip.

My only suggestion is to, within reason, provide detailed information of your intended itinerary.

So, if you are staying with friends or family while there get them to send you a mail confirming their pleasure at having you and your lovely wife staying with them between whatever dates they are and supply it with application.

Pain in the arse maybe but it does not allow them to assume expenses that don't exist and in turn refuse your application on their wrongful assumptions.

Hope that helps & enjoy the trip !

  5. Simple, just ask to see the messages sent and received between her and her ex.

After all it's not that uncommon for some ex partners to swap the occasional message once or twice a year, HBD etc & there is no real harm in them being sent or received.

If she refuses move on, and quick !

If she has nothing to hide about her current relationship status with him what harm is there?

However, my hunch is she will never be prepared to do it so from that you can already see she's not being honest with you.

As the saying goes, "Oh well, never mind, who's next"

did mine at Trendy in March 2016 and had it back in less than 2 weeks

**i reckon you can be sure to have it back in less than 3 weeks. Most friends that have done it recently have all said about 2 weeks but see what others say who've done it more recently themselves to be sure

    Similar.

Did mine early August at Trendy, was back before the end of the month

So, I agree, allow 3 weeks, more than enough time

  7. I think Red Horse is a nice beer

As a long time Chang drinker it's a welcome change as I never really enjoyed Singha, Leo or Tiger

49 Baht for a 640ml bottle in Tops at 6% is very reasonable too

I can see it gaining in popularity very quickly over here

  8. dogfish180 just do it.

By some, 'grassing' people up is looked down upon but if it is as you say it is & I were in your shoes I would have no hesitation in doing so.

I suggest doing it immediately and only do so with a senior immigration officer, the most senior available to you.

My only concern would be him continuing the harassment after his deportation or trying to 'get even' with you.

If you can limit his harassment from overseas and have nothing to hide, get on with it mate and good luck.

Hope he is not a TV member, reading this thread and realizing it's him we are discussing ;)

I expect as someone mentioned it is actually 5.5 units and the decimal is being red and charged as a whole number,

    Unfortunately not.

I have access to the meter & the reading they bill me for are correct, no incorrect readings involved.

It looks like a new meter is a must having read many replies

    Thanks

Suspect you may have a leaking toilet.  If you can not see overflow (with tank cover off) can you shut off supply (some homes have shut off valve behind toilet).

I isolated the possibility of any leaking toilets & taps last night before going to bed by turning of all of their individual supplies.

    Cisterns x 2, toilet water hose x 2, sinks x 3, washing machine x 1

I then took a reading and retired to bed.

This morning after 7 hours of no usage the meter had registered usage of 0.11 of a unit, 110 liters gone somewhere, but not used by us.

Currently being looked in to by condo maintenance

I live alone and use around 2 units a month for toilet, shower, washing machine etc. Logically two people could use double that, or around 4 units. Add one unit for a Thai person who leaves taps running and that makes 5.

I suspect that somehow your meter is being read incorrectly and your 50 is really 5. Is the last digit the tenths?

Unfortunately the meter is being read correctly as I have access to it to check

Just established it's registering usage when no water being used.

Where it's going no one yet knows

Or ask them to take a daily reading with you. Perhaps the office lady note down the wrong meter and switch the readings by accident. It happens more often that it should.

    Hi mike324

I have access to the meter as it's in an unlocked cupboard outside my door.

It now appears the meter runs without water being used.

Last night I closed off the individual supply to all taps & cisterns, took a reading & went to bed.

This morning after 7 hours of no use whatsoever while we were sleeping the meter had moved by 0000.110, just over 1/10th of a unit = 110 liters.

110 liters gone in 7 hours without any usage.

Am on their case as we speak to sort it

    Thanks for the reply

You could fill a let's say 1 liter bottle of water and measure how long this takes, let's say 10 seconds. Now you let the water running at this speed for let's say 1000 seconds, then the water meter should show a usage of about 100 liter.

Of course this method is not the most accurate one, but it's simple and if it's totally off you should be able to see it. (If you take something bigger than 1 liter bottle for calibration and let it run longer it gets obviously more accurate)

    Thanks jackdd,

To check it myself did cross my mind but your suggestion is far better than what I was thinking of.

I have a few empty 6 liter bottles so to time a 12 liter test fill, then leave the tap running at the same speed for a long multiple of that would give me a fair idea if the meter is about right or not.

    Will keep you posted

    Thanks again

  14. Hi jackdd,

Yes indeed we have. We had the maintenance guy come and this is what he checked for.

All taps were off, no cisterns filling up, no laundry running & the meter did not move at all.

It has also been checked just before we go to bed & then again 1st thing in the morning when there has been no usage & same again, no movement at all on the meter.

This is why I am questioning the accuracy of the meter when it's working.

Any idea how or who can check it ?

    Thanks for the reply

  15. Hi all,

I would like to ask what an average month's water unit usage should be for 2 people sharing a condo.

This is not about the unit cost, but the unit usage in a month.

Our daily/weekly usage is not really any different to most other couples. Toilet flushed 6-8 times a day, 1 shower each a day, 2-3 laundry cycles a week, washing up etc. There is no other demands that we use our tapped water for.

I appreciate there are variables that will affect the 'exact' usage but I would just like to know what other couple's 'average' usage is or should be.

Reason being, ours is at approximately 50 units a month, which is an average of 1,666 liters a day, which I find hard to believe we use.

I have access to the meter and I am not being billed incorrectly.

The meter does not move at all when no water is being supplied to the condo.

Is it possible for a meter to run an incorrect usage?

If so, how do you go about getting it checked?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

  16. Had similar a few years ago.

Parcel sent from Pattaya to me in Phrom Phong, zip 10110.

Tracking number given said 'delivered' to an address in Phra Khanong.

Went to the parcel counter at Phra Khanong post office, gave the tracking number and was given the parcel.

Maybe, it's what they sometimes do if they can't or don't want to deliver to the named address, just drop it at the nearest post office for collection.

Good luck anyway, worth a try !

  17. She don't mind spread the love all over social medias to me. She is crazy about me

That's the social media identity that she uses for you. What about the other 3 or 4 she has with different names expressing her 'love all over social media' to other guys?
