Why is Thailand different, when it is about Covid? I think that is an opinion and not a fact. People first get sick go, to the hospital, after that they get on a ventilator. The deaths lag the cases. Fact!

I got a question and hope that someone can help me. I am staying in Thailand on a multiple entry non immigrant-O visa, based on marriage. I live in a village near Roi-Et. My visa expires on rhe 1st of September 2020. My 90 days of stay expires on the 16th of April 2020. In normall circumstanses I always do a visa run to Laos after 90 days. When I go to the immigration office can I get a 60 days extension? What paperwork do I need for a 60 days extension?

Me and my wife never filed for TM30. Is this a problem? 

Does anyone know a good visa agent in, or near Roi-Et. I am okay when I have to pay someone who can arrange the 60 days extension for me.

I not know where you live, but it is not really safe there. Maybe what you tel is al true, but I not understand why you want to live there? I live in a village in Issaan for 4 years now and nobody got killed or raped in these 4 years! So maybe you live in a bad village...

This is a little bit off topic. But in the buss in downtown this would not happen? Probably not, but there are a lot of incidents where people just start shooting (killing) a lot of people at schools! Hitting a woman is a terrible thing to do, but just killing kids at schools is even worse... I never read about that happening in Thailand. And it is a fact that in some areas in NY you can not even walk as a white man. Sounds like a great country.

I agree with you guys, they should not have got in to a fight with the Thai guys. But to hit an old woman and than when she is on the floor kick her in the face! If you do something like that, than I think you are sick in the head.

An exchange rate don't go up (or down) all the time....don't expect a trend which say is going up day-after-day for a while to continue...at some point it will head the other direction for a while. People need to take a longer term view versus only a daily or monthly view.

The recent currency variation (manipulating) of the Chinese yuan, Bank of Japan interest rate going negative last week, and the oil price ups & downs is making a lot of currency pairs do strange things right now. If I had to guess the Bank of Japan negative interest rate thing and the lower than expected U.S. GDP number for Dec 15 (announced in mid Jan 16) is having the biggest impact on the USD-THB rate.

Also, according to one of Murhpy's Laws the exchange rate will go down just before you need to exchange a large sum of money---it's the law.

You are right. Every time when I read a post like "what is going on with the USD against the THB" I try to explain that financial markets are volatile, it never goes only up, or down. If you look at some charts you can see the USD is at a very high point already and most likely will get a correction first, but ofcourse I am not sure. I can not predict the future.

Some people say, but the economy in Thailand is not going good, so the USD against THB should go up. If it was that easy everybody would get rich! Just buy some turbo's, or options long on the USD against THB and earn a lot of money. Plus the fact that the financial markets are running half a year, until a year in front of the economy, so the economy at this moment has nothing to do with it.

Some people say, this is Thailasnd. No it is not Thailoand, it happens everywhere in the world.

Coheaper ?

1. An "extension of stay " costs 1900 Bht. and is valid for 12 months.

2. A multi entry "O" visa costs 5000 Bht plus all the associated travel and accommodation costs.

Explain please how option two is "cheaper " .

Of course it is possible that I am wrong. I live close to the border and and my travel costs are 140 Bht, so I not have any accomodation costs, because I am back home in 3 hours.

One or 2 times in a year I like to go home to visit family and friends and I not have to buy a re-entry permit.

You give her not much and her gf's get a lot from there farang boyfriends. The woman stays with you. You give her not much, so you can be pretty sure that she really loves you. The farang that are giving there girlfriends lots of presents and money can never be sure. There is a good change that the woman stays with them, because she gets lots of presents and money.

So stop being insecure about it...

If you do a border run (out/in) to Laos you also have to pay (1500 Baht) for the Laos visa!?

• The elite visa which costs 500,000 thb for 5 years.
• You shouldn't have a problem getting another tourist visa from your home country or another country neighbouring Thailand.
• You won't be refused entry if holding a TR.
• Set up a company so you can have a non 'B' visa and WP.
• There are companies that will, for a fee, employ you and organise a work permit. (sorry I don't know much about them other than they are expensive)

Unfortunately Thailand doesn't want people your age living and working here illegally.

You misunderstand!

The "digital nomads" live in 5* hotels , use the "gratis" Wi FI and pay tax on their huge incomes!

They also contribute to the economy of the local mobile noodle stall !

Actually there are quite some digital nomads that make far more as the old guys, there are also many old guys that live of a meager pension contributing almost nothing to the country.

But as with all groups there are those who make only a bit of money and those that are successful.

The older guys don't like the younger crowd as they don't have to pay for the girls.

Slightly off topic,

The day after we were married, we went back to the village to tell mum.

I knew little about Thai tradition, and we walked along the road holding hands.

Not to worry. The Thai Central Bank has not the necessary "Ammunition" to stem the decline of the Bht longer term. So, if it is a "market intervention" that is actually undergoing, it will be short lived.

Is this comeback totally based on financial junkies waiting for another QE4 fix from the Fed? Seems like the only answer. Manipulation with all the algorithmic trading going on? Puzzling at best.

General consensus is, that the Fed will not increase interest rates this year. = Good for the Stock Market. An interest rate hike would kill the anemic economic recovery in the "mature economies" quickly.

The world economy is "leveraged" in form of outstanding astronomical debt never seen before. ( Governments, Industries, private households = same same).

Historically, government debt should yield 2 to 3 % over inflation. Implement this today and half of the outstanding debt worldwide could not be serviced anymore. (Over-Leverage).

Yes the financial world has turned into a "junkie". The name of the drug is not called Heroin or Cocaine. It's called "Free Money". How to "detox" this patient, I simply don't know.

You can always tell newbies to Thailand by their lack of exoerience with the exchange rate and their angst connected with it. The rest of us who really live in Thailand are more concerned with the price of spuds at Big C. Relax.

I already live here for 2,5 year and am very interested in the fnancial markets. I am actually making some money with it. And i for sure have no fear (angst) for the USD - Thai Baht rate, because I am not from the USA. I just try to explain why I think that the USD is not going up against the Thai Baht. I am completely relax :-) And don't want to worry about the spuds at Big C...
