I am American also. Married to a Laotian. We traveled to Penang and applied for her Non O, then applied for dependent 30 days after returning to Thailand. You will need to show one year of your bank records showing you can support your dependent -

I just made the trip to the states in July. I flew JAL with no problems. Layover in Tokyo 4 hours. Mask required during flight and layover, but mask disappeared after landing in Dallas.. No masks on flights within US. Cost was 500. More than pre Covid.

Yes it is required to set up a separate account for a SS check deposit. You will not receive a debit card. The only way to have access to your money is personally go to the bank and transfer to your regular account.
