I have been using Magic Jack for over 15 Yrs to make and receive calls to/from the USA. It costs $35 for the year and is unlimited. They just had a promotion for 5 Yrs for $120. Here is the link.

I down loaded the app and line inputs don't work correctly and are not titled correctly. (Missing choices, looks to line above, etc) The cal for your B'Day only allows for current year. would not let me input data by hand. I don't think any of these apps have been tested by an actual user before being released. Not worth down loading !! Very Bad App !!!!

I live in Sattahip and go to Pattaya for my 90 Day report which is great, but I have a house in Khon Kaen and will be spending more time there. My question is how is the service there, anything I should be prepaired for ? Thanks for any insight you can offer.

How old are you ? If you are not 55 or older you cannot get a Non O-A visa . BangKok Bank is the only bank to use if you qualify. Which country are you from ?
Here is a copy of what it is and what you need to get one. Good Luck. -
The basic rate varies, but figure 350 - 550 Baht per man per Day. The big boss gets more. You must watch them very closely as very few thai workers have good working skills. Very poor quality, as it's not their house.

I checked my fans rating and it draws .22 A or 47 Watts and small lights run about 22 Watts. So my load is very small, 4 lights and a Fan, total load less than 150 Watts, so if I choose a converter that can handle 1,000 Watts I should not have any problems. I am not running 1,000 Watts, just the device can handle up to 1,000 Watts. As far as current, 150 Watts is less than 1 Amp, so a 63A car battery should not run out quickly. (Power=Voltage x Current) or (Current=Power/Voltage)

A gen is not good as it needs gas and the noise level is too high. That's why an inverter is the way to go ( 6 - 15 Hrs on one charge - 63A Battery). I can have it inside and setup small lights in each room and run a small fan, as it gets quite hot here. But thanks for the response !

I live near Pattaya, does anyone know where I can purchase a dc to ac Inverter / Power supply ? 12v DC in and 220v AC out, power here in Sattahip goes out a lot when weather is Bad. I want to build an alt AC power supply with large Battery (63A Car Battery) and Charger 20A for recharging car Battery. Any help finding store which has both items would be great.
Thanks ! -

Hi,
Fiber is great and the speed is up there, but be advised during the day the speed is great, in the evening when people are using their computers and accessing the internet the speed drops quite a bit. Still good, but not the same as the daytime. This seems to be the norm here is Thailand, in the states, you get full speed both up / down. It's one to one, not the same here in Thailand where it's one to many users. Yes the band width is 30 MbPs, but each user gets a slice of that, so when there are a lot of users the rate gets smaller and smaller. -
I would not go too crazy here, just show your embassy what your current monthly income is or your yearly statement and let them do the math. Also always use the exchange rate of 32 Baht as this is a safe conversion rate and not the current rate which might be higher. I have been doing this for several years and do not have any issues. Also be advised that they look at the combined total that equals 800,000 Baht( Income and money in a Thai Bank ).

Yes they do work, but most of the time they are not strong enough. You need to have a 6,000 or 8,000 BTU heater, most are only 3,000 - 3,500 because they are not expensive and don't need a lot of current. Either a 6K - 8K units requires 32A or 40A breakers and run around 7,000 - 8,000 Baht.

Hi,
As I posted before, you can send directly to the data processing center or the P.O.Box or Fax to them. But most of you don't understand is that they could very easily make it all electronic. Just create a link to the form and require that you enter your SS #, at that point it fills in the form with your info. Then x the boxes that apply to you and hit send. They get it in seconds and they could send back to you your status (Active) and the date and Time for your records.
I have tried to send the idea to the head of SSA in washington, but not even an answer, thank you, nothing. Maybe your sending this idea to your senator is what is needed. By my estimate, there are close to 6.5 million of us living outside the US.
