  1. The coup was never considered illegal by the international community, and the military allowed an election to happen again. Why wouldn't the US give a visa to someone who was in the military during the coup?

The reds continue to further lose the plot...

No they don't continue to 'loose the plot" as you say. They are continuously being denied any say at all. With the tight control of the media, oppression of some sort or another of their, what they consider to be 'legitimate' views by what they consider to be an illegal regime, its no wonder that they resort to tactics such as they have been forced to adopt.

  2. Another thing; you have a signed contract which the landlord gives up rights to that property for the length of the contract. If you have proof that she has entered the house without your permission etc...that is also considered a criminal offense and she can be put in jail. I have a friend who is a owner and many years ago who didn't know the law,he entered a house of his that the tenant had vacated, but had left a few items behind. The lease was still in affect....he took those items out and he was thrown in jail for trespassing and it cost him 200,000 baht to get out of jail.......

  3. I have ate at Tacos and Salsa many times over the last month ever since the mexican food poll came out. Every time the food is excellent and very authentic Mexican. I feel as though I'm sitting on the Zona Rosa in Mexico City enjoying the real thing. That sums it up; I will continue to eat there at least once a week ...

First........I have not tried T&S yet........from looking at the pictures, no desire to try the food there.

Second, thanks for the pics..........it does not look like Mexican food to me.

Third, I recently ate at another "Mexican food place" across from The Pizza Company by Khao San Road (already forgot the name) and it was beyond terrible........nothing Mexican or Tex-Mex about it except the pictures of peppers/chiles on the wall.

Fourth, as bad as it was, it still was better than the most popular place now.........you can guess which place.

I think it is time to open a real Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant in Thailand.

From your comments you haven't actually been to the Zona Rosa in Mexico City where the real mexican food is...The place you mentioned is called Mexican Tartar's a copy of Sunrise.... Personally I don't care for Tex/Mex........

When I think about it reminds me of the old reese's peanut butter cup commercials where the 2 people collide with the peanut butter and the chocolate..."you put your chocolate in my peanut butter".."no you put your peanut butter on my chocolate"....so its like the cowboys in Texas ran into the Aztec's from Mexico and the chilli ended up in a taco.....

  5. Hola Jorge -

If those pictures on your site were what I had gotten when I went, I would've been plenty satisfied. Thus, I can only assume that whomever was on duty that day still needs to be taught how much in each portion, etc.

Thank you for visit myspace, well, yes may was that and i will keep eye on it, next time you come ask for the alambres, you will not be sisapointed.

    Best regards

    Jorge

I have been reading the post about the best mexican food in Bangkok for almost a week now....enough is enough...... Thought Sunrise had it together , but they have been sliding down hill since expanding the menu. Too much, too difficult for a guy from Nebraska and bunch of Philipinos to handle; should have kept it simple...

This evening at 8pm I tried Tacos and Salsa, Jorge, you got it together,It was nice to actually see a Mexican cooking real Mexican food............viva mexico!

I odered guac and chips, cheese quesadillas, 2 enchiladas with green sauce(1 cheese, 1 chicken) THIS IS THE BEST ORIGINAL I HAVE TASTED...not tex mex, but original. Yes, it s a very small place, but being from Southern California, as well as going to Mexico City a lot(Zona Rosa),the best places with the best taste were the "hole in the walls".

Bigger place, bigger portions doesn't mean its gonna taste good. Typical Thailand, make it look good and fool people into believing its good......

Jorge,Keep it "Real Mexican" as I know you will, and you will continue to see success and your following will grow, You have my business....

  6. As well as their annoying habit of talking up property market, the local press have habitually played down the drop in tourist numbers, quoting figure like a 20% reduction, when anyone can see it is far worse than that.

But browsing through the newspapers over the past few days, I notice that even the press is now predicting a dire 2009.

Some facts recently reported that spring to mind:

Hotel occupancy in December is usually a MINIMUM of 65%. This December it is 10%

Hotel occupancy in Phuket is down by 70%.

Reports from the southern resorts state that the tourist business is in a worse recession than during the aftermath of the Tsunami.

A report from a hotel booking service that all current visitors booked before the airport closures. There have been nil bookings since for the 2009 season.

And on a slightly different tack, today's Business Post ran a story that the country's exports will be hit hard in 2009 by the global recession.

The bubble is about to burst and it could be worse than the last one.

    What say you?

Well it can't be that bad, today my mother spent a few hours with booking...

VIE-BKK 2007 she got for 850 Euro now nothing below 950

Hotel (same room) she was 2006 we could negotiate the price down to 100 USD per night is now 300 Euro (no discount possible).

Some hotels give a discount but the price is still higher than 2006.

So my cynic thinking is that they must be almost full......

(on the airplane you can book now while the years before everything was full)

    The whole idea must change:

Hotel staff: lovely looking women who can are not allowed to decide anything, English what they pick up from customer, salary 6000 Baht per month. they can't even tell you were the pier is or the skytrain but they try to charge 300 euro per day from the customer.

Hotels are not full and its the Thai way of getting more $$ out of the few tourists that will come.....

  7. My yearly extension of stay based on business expires on January 4th. My lawyer has delayed in taking me to immigration until this Monday the 15th.

Is this enough time to get my new extension completed?

Previous years I have alway gone 30 days before expiration......

  8. Hi,

In the shadow of the You say Potato, I say Kartoffel... I am intrigued with explosion of the "Mexican fast food concept" in Bangkok. Will they all survive? And are the Thais up for this after the novelty runs out? Will this expansion trigger Yum! to open up Taco bells?

I love this kind of food and will taste and survey all the brands when coming back home to Bangkok.

Also, anyone wants to bet on the next big thing on the Thai fast food scene. If I had the money I would go for something similar to Schlotzkys or Prêt a manager.

It appears the thread was deleted due to a brewing spat (and even implied lawsuit threat) on the same thread between the opening poster (Clipped) and the owner of Sunrise Tacos (Sunbelt).

It's deletion by one of the Mods seems to be for a good reason, I believe.

In that thread, I reposted a detailed e-mail that was sent to my mailbox on July 6th in reference to the size of the tacos in Bangkok. I asked for other views. The next post by the OP was screaming in caps and was simply defamation of character. That post is now invisible.

I have been the biggest fan and supporter of Thaivisa.com since 2002. I believe in different views and changing of ideas.

On a side note, I don't have no problem with any competition and in fact have always felt more choices are better for business so people can compare you against others. The last thing I would ever do, is want a discussion deleted as for options available to people.

I do however have a problem when someone hides behind a computer and makes false accusations. I ask George to please not to delete the post but rather make it invisible until I meet to discuss these false allegations. The ISP and false accusations had to be saved before the moderator deleted the post. George rather than delete the OP post decided to make the whole thread invisible.

As for Sabrosa Mexican Grill... They are also at the Tops in Tonglor and also the Tops at Skytrain stop Ari right?
