  1. Greeting my fellow Ex-pats. I'm trying to help my mom help her colleague in Vietnam access consistent American TV.

The FCC has been, apparently, restricting channels available for non-US TV. She's working with a router to slingbox now, but is having issues as the cable provider has an update for their sling box and it's not working properly with the existing software via the cable company. Does anyone have experience with accessing a reliable signal (LOL!), or have any information regarding a reliable Vietnamese-American cable-TV provider (2XLOL!)?

I really appreciate any information anyone has with success in the matter....

  2. I've been working on this for two days and cannot find help i need to get the job done. I'm in Korat and want help from start to finish, Can anyone point me in the right direction? Aslo, they sell these motorycles in America, should there be a problem wtih emissions or something. I'm totally cluless and trying to learn. Also, if anyone want to talk over the phone that'd be great.

  3. I currently riding this CB650F, but just started the selling process. I want more POWER! Has anyone tested both the Z800 and CB650F. Is there a significant power difference

Is it worth selling the Honda? I'm also toying with the idea of buying the GSXS 1000, but it's a hefty price tag on that bike. My Honda is for sale at 228,000.

The Z800 has noticably more power/torque. 115HP vs 86HP, 83Nm vs 63Nm. But it is heavy with 231kg and comes without ABS which for me is a deal breaker. It's a bit dated and I think there'll be an update to it this or next year.

There is no direct competitor but for 50k more (435k) you could get an MT09 which has the same HP, bit more peak torque and lots more torque down low compared to the Z800. It's also a whopping 40kg lighter!

Might need a bit more investment into suspension/seat if that turns out to be a problem for you but otherwise people are raving about it.

The only real issue is dealership support. You'll have to research that if there is a good one near you.

I put on a larger gear in the rear today, went up two teeth. The front tire now comes off the ground around 7000rpm in first. It pull noticeably harder. I'm not sure where the speed is registered on the Honda, but I reached 238 today, which I never did with the stock gear. It would've kept climbing, but I don't like being up around those speeds for too long. Moreover, I was able to access more of the RPM range at top speed. The power band is closer at any given range, giving the bike a healthier kick. Freeway cruising feels nearly the same, not annoying whatsoever. I generally travel at 120-130kph. I'd recommend the larger gear to anyone looking for more out of their CB650. The gold sprocket looks cool too.

I'm Korat, so I stopped into the Yamaha dealership several weeks ago. One of the mechanics let me ride his MT09. It was WAY torquier than the CB, as you'd expect. It ergos didn't feel as good in my opinion, too upright. On my CB I took the handlebar off the CB500, it's a lower bar and gives the CB650F a sportier feels. That being said, the MT09 feels comfortable just not in the way that I prefer. It was very snappy--quick bike for sure.

Ah, just a note here. I bought my CB from Honda Big Wing in Korat. I've had all my services done there and bought varies aftermarket parts, jacket, helmet, ect. The service from those guys is the best service I've had ANYWHERE in Thailand. They're really on the ball. The store is large, clean with a good selection of bikes and parts. There's also a cafe in the building. It's superior to the other shops here in Korat, Yamaha's shop would be the second nicest store here in town.

  6. he became jealous when the woman told him that her husband takes good care of her and never gets angry with her. The pair then began to argue and the woman insulted Chanachai and his parents.

Kind of funny in a sinister way: he got angry because she said her husband didn't get angry. Maybe that thing about the parents was "you are a worse lay than your father!"

Ohhhh man-O-man. Gotta say, that's a pretty good one there.

  7. she's a great bike. Looks good, sounds good, drives tiptop, and honestly is plenty fast, but I'm power hungry just like out geeked out PM here in LOS.

But what I want is this mofo! It's not in its stock paint scheme here, but I love all the dead. Straight death machine

This is the stock red they have in Korat. They've also have the blue GSXS1000F in blue.

  8. I'm looking at buying one. I currently have a CB650F I want to sell. But damn, at 570,000 I not sure I can justify the price. I sat on the S1000 the other day here at the Korat location. It feels very similar to how I have got my CB built, using the handle bar from the CB500. My CB looks awesome, drive perfectly, is paid off, has full exhaust system, buuuuuuuut I can't help wanting more power!!!

    Pics?

  10. Bought in Korat at Honda Big Wing in my name with green book in my name.
Full service record in Honda service book. They know me well at Honda Big Wing
    32,000km
Full after market exhaust and complete original one off bike now.
Perilli Tires 15 percent tread wear, 85 percent left.

It's simply a well maintained bike that runs as solid as day one, but for less money. I'm up grading to a 1000cc Suzuki, but will sell this first. I'll include one photo here. If you're interested please PM me, and I can send more photos, talk on the phone and/or we can meet. I live in Korat near the Honda Big Wing actually.
The attached photo was taken Janruary 28th here in Korat.

  11. A few months ago I sent a parcel to the USA via EMS. It weighed 296 grams. Under 500g, the parcels ship at 860 baht. Today I went to send a parcel that weighs 289g. The price went from 860 baht to 2000 baht over night. I had to send the package Registered mail, which still gives a tracking number. EMS just promises to have the package leave Thailand in three days or less, then the parcel is changed to Priority mail once past customs. When sent Registered through Thai Post, and once through customs, the package is also given Priority mail service in The States.

Anyway, that's a huge price hike!

  12. Just an update. I went back to the Honda Big Wing here in Korat, where I bought the bike. The valve check was about 4500 baht, 1000 baht less than the Honda Big Wing wanted to charge me. Yes, they had to take the plastics off and pull the motor. It was due for spark p,ugh as well. I was getting a little lull in slow acceleration before I took it in. The 'problem' has been remedied. Not sure if that was due to worn plus or slight valve clearance adjustment. Anyway, service is not free and bike is running like a champ.
