  1. Euro 5 and 6?   55555. Unfortunately the average pickup driver has a Euro 0 mindset. Euro 5 requires DPF (diesel particulate filter) which I noticed the new Hilux Champ has. Euro 6 requires Adblue in a separate tank.  I cannot imagine (actually I can) how those items will be dealt with here...

As many writers above already mentioned, pointless actions without enforcement .  They should start with the numerous incompetently modified ECUs in pickups belching out smoke.  Annual vehicle tests should be done with the engine under load not at low idle when even the most f....ed up engine will not smoke.

  2. I just keep the 800k in a Term Deposit year round. No hassles and renewal is painless. Only problem is to get the bank letter from Bkk Bank in Hua Hin without errors. Last time it took 3 efforts and the aged lady tasked doing this not very difficult task got really annoyed with me despite of the incompetence being her own. Face I guess.. TIT.

  3. I have a Toyota mighty x since 28 years with Carryboy 602 canopy.  No cracking or fading in that time.  Only rear window needs to be realigned from time to time. This is no issue on my Toyota Tiger which has a 10 year old Carryboy so  issue seems to be resolved.  The Cityboy will have more wind resistance so fuel.consumption will be higher. Also looks more like a 'tradie' pickup.  If you don't need the extra volume very often would definitely stick to the standard Carryboy 'roofline' canopy.

  4. Have lived and worked in Thailand full time from 2002. Mainly in Bangkok where I was a daily user of BTS.  Just returned from a 3 month trip overseas, went today to BTS OnNut to top up 500 baht on my Rabbit card and was astonished when the girl demanded my passport which I did not have on me. Luckily the pink ID card did the job.

However all of this seems to be another worrying symptom of the increasing official paranoia towards foreigners.  I am wondering what is next: having to show passport before allowed to even enter the BTS?

This is even more ludricous considering one can pull single trip tickets from the machine without any form of ID.

What is going on? Was this an overzealous bts employee or part of further efforts to make foreigners feel unwelcome?

Although it may be dismissed as an additional minor inconvenience I do consider it another notch on the 'unwelcome scale'.
