  1. Never a word about Chiang Mai, for all we know the last case was 40 days ago. Yet we are still on lockdown supposedly until the end of May. Most restaurants are closed, anything resembling a park is closed but wow the lines for free food are l-o-n-g. So, the secrecy of China and who can believe those numbers? And still locked up. There must be a lot of secret covid-19 virus seeking around.

  2. Seems crazy to have us all in lockdown in Chiang Mai with what 40 reported cases of cover-19 from a month ago. How many hundreds of thousands are hunkering down here, wearing masks religiously glaring at others who come to close, never hearing so much as a single cough.  Our immune systems are of course more sensitive to the virus now being hid away for 50 days and herd immunity is non-existent.There is almost no motorcycle shop open to repair anything, smaller restaurants are closed. Hair cutting salons closed. UNLESS it is understood that there are hundreds of viruses laden people still secretly surging into the hospitals and because of this we are all being protected from ourselves, this seems loco loco loco.

  3. After reading this i have decided enough is enough.I am sick of this racist <deleted> from Thailand. After this covid 19 has died down if it dies down i am out of here and Asia.I have found a place in south america that is not racist, cheap, easy to settle and safe,i have already started the process.I love Thailand but it's just becoming a bad place for expats now .

    • Please suggest  anywhere  that is better in South America. I'm interested.

  4. Thank you. Very helpful. So I send away to Lazada and get the roll of Hepa Filtrate and cover the area inside the indoors part of the aircon which will keep hopefully a lot of the smoke from entering the house when the aircon is on. Last year one early morn about 4:30 I smelled the smoke again, coming into the wooden house. I turned on the zircon and it was as if there was a smoky fire on the other side of the zircon. It was so bad we up and left with our sinus infections and antibiotics to Bangkok etc for month. Thanks again

  5. Can someone please tell me what filters should be attached to a normal house a/c box to filter the smoke? I was thinking I need one to stop incoming smoke but maybe its better to find one for inside the machine as it blows air in???   ...And where would be a good place to obtain these? Thank you.

  6. Thanks to Mike TeaV and Crab for responding with the following (see below). Does this mean then that the monthly income must come into a Thai bank each month ex. to show the equivalent of 65,000 baht over the previous 6 months? I now have a three month non-o visa due Jan 3, for which I believe I can get one or more  extensions. You mentioned getting an "income letter" which has 6 month validity. What is that? The Embassy I herd is not providing that now, correct?

So, what does this mean to those who actually have monthly income coming in from income abroad (example rentals (not retirement pension) totaling the monthly 65K baht figure afore necessary?

To save you reading the previous 111 pages...

    • In short, nobody knows for sure yet
    • Both the British & US Embassies have said that you'll be able to use proof of deposits into a Thai Bank account, the source & frequency requirements for these are not known yet
    • Both Embassies will issue Certificate of Income up to the end of the year (For British Embassy you need to get your request in by 12th December) & Thai Immigration have said they will accept them up to 6 months after issue date.

So if you're planning on using the income method & your renewal is due before the end of July (Mid August in some places) it would be prudent to get your Income letter this year (obviously being mindful of the 6 month validity period, don't get it now if you're renewal is due after 1st June) otherwise make whatever contingency plans you feel are appropriate for you to mitigate against the risk of not being able to use proof of income.

Or just ignore it & deal with things when the time comes...

  7. I would like to know all of what is required in order to get a retirement visa. I have so far:

    1. have been granted a non imm O visa

    2. 50 years or older

    3. evidence of 65,000 baht (fluid income) per month or on filing date 800,000 in Thai bank for 3 months.

Will a printed off paper bank statement showing income suffice?

    4. Paper from Residence form filled out with particulars and included photocopy of village heads ID and signature signifying these things are true.

    5. health permit obtained from hospital (on special form paper?)

    6. Criminal record- Go to police station? Bring proper form?

    7. Marriage certificate-notarized? and proof its all real signed  and sealed form from US consulates office.

    8. 1 or 2 copies of every page in the passport that is used (esp previous visas to the Kingdom).

    9. Other ????

    Thanks

  8. I heard from an expert former newspaper boy that dogs are repulsed by the strong steel of ammonia (watered down). There is nothing worse than smelling like another dog peed on you. So, squirt gun in hand. Am and fire. I always thought that the spray itself could do it as well.

  9. No, I live in Thailand. I want to Change visa from Non Imm O to retirement.

I see the list thanks Ubon, Steve and Nasa. So a complete list is:

    Application form TM7
Photo copies of all pages of other visas and valid data (TM6 departure card?)
Photo copy of your photo and personal details (someone said 2 2x2 photos)
Photo copy of your departure card
Photo copy of  proof of residence plus Yellow book if have. (housing certificate?)
    Baht 1900
Letter from bank confirming monies in with bank book updated to that day of reporting.
( In some places-signed and stamped bank letter, plus copy of bank book name, copy of last 2-3 entries including copy/indication of sufficient monies for surrent time) or maybe letter from Embassy stating have over B 65,000/month
some parts of Thailand picture of applicant in front of house where abiding.

  10. Can you help me understand what is needed to renew my Non immigrant O visa and work permit? I haven't found a site that actually has all the information or a complete forum response either. 12. The organization used to do the work of getting the visa/work permit for free. (of course I paid for the work permit and visa). Now we must pay him for this work, and the fee is not cheap. Better to do it myself if possible, therefore I looked and did not find exactly what papers I needed. That is what I am asking for. Can you help? Do you know? can you lead me to an exact site where they specify what is needed? No Thai wife.
