  1. I was stopped in the queue at Immigration at swampy by the lady who checks your arrival card and directs you to a counter. I hadn't written an outbound flight number and she refused to let me pass untill I'd written one in. It was a genuine number, i had just forgotten to write it on, but it wasn't checked.

I've been thru since 3 times with no outward bound flight and not been questioned.

  2. The visa run guy is probably talking about doing a border hop for a visa exempt entry. I think you are from a G7 country that gets 30 days at a border crossing. You could then get a 30 day extension of that entry at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

All you need is your passport and copy of the photo page and this application form for Penang. Most people use an agent that can do the application for you and then pick it up the next day. No need to go to the consulate.

Yeah, I thought he maybe meant doing a re-entry with visa exempt, but he insisted that the office at Wang Prachan is same same the office in Penang... can do all the same things... think hes mistaken, but always better to check!

    Thanks for the form!

How would I find an agent?

  3. If you can show 100k baht or more in the bank or proof of income you can get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage in Penang. Or Savannakhet with no financial proof needed.

Proof of finances isn't a problem, but the marriage is.

What else would I need to show? I only have marriage certificate. No tabien baan or wifes ID...

Would the visa stay valid if we get divorced?

We have gone separate ways already today...

Without your wife's help you will have to leave on or before Dec 12th.

If you can get signed copies of her ID and Tabien Baan then you could get a new non 'O' visa. Otherwise your options are tourist visas or a non 'ED'.

The wife won't help me... she likes to make everything as difficult as possible...

Trip to Penang for tourist visa seems to be my cheapest option...

Anyone been to Penang or have details?

I just been talking to a Thai guy that works for the only company on lanta that does a 'VISA' trip to Penang... but they only do one way... so I have to find my own way back!

The same guy insists I can get a new VISA at Wang Prachan, but that sounds wrong to me, anyone know if this is true?

What do I need to get a tourist visa from Penang? Can I get forms there or do I need to prepare everything before I go?

Do I need any kind of visa to cross into Malaysia?

  5. Need help!

Ok, the hotel/apartment refused to do the TM30, so I've been waiting to move into a new room, before getting a 2 month extension.

However my marriage has been on the rocks since I got to Thailand... I have been trying to save it, but I can't do it alone... I've finally thrown in the towel today...

So, I came in on 3 month single Non-imm O visa based on marriage. Which expires on 12th December.

I am in Koh Lanta. What is my best and cheapest option to stay??

  6. Do all owners of accommodation need to report to immigration that they have an Alien on their property? For all aliens?

I went to Krabi immigration yestarday to sort the 60 day extension. They tell me I need a report for my accommodation... Turns out the hotel/apartments im staying at dont file the tm30 or report online...

When i spoke to the owner, she said they don't need to do it if they have less than 10 rooms... and they only have 8, so no need.

My wife explained that I need them to report my stay to immigration and the owner has agreed to fill in a tm30 for me to take to immigration next week.

Will this be a problem for me or cause any problems for the resort owner?

It appears none of the places Ive stayed in past month have reported my stays....

  7. Hi guys, I'm just trying to work out my best option....

I came in on a 90 day non-imm O based on Marriage. Which will expire 12th Dec.

I was staying at the wife's Parent's house in Ubon Ratchathani and origionally intended to stay there indefinitely. But it wasn't working out so well, so we took a road trip around Thailand.

We are now in Krabi province and the wife is applying for jobs in hotels.

I'm trying to work out my best options for visa/extension.

My understanding is that I will need proof of residence for a 1yr extension based on marriage, but we are staying in cheap hotels, until we know that we are gonna stay here (lanta)... so can I get an extension here in krabi while stayin in hotels, or would I need to rent a room first?

If the wife doesn't get a job here, we'll go somewhere else.

If I get an extension in Krabi, what happens with reporting and stuff if we move somewhere else? Do I need to report in Krabi?

Would it be better to go back to Ubon Ratchathani and get the extension there, as they already have me on file?

I may need to leave thailand a few times over the next 12 months so was looking at re-entry permit. How much are they and how many entries do they give?

Would I be better with new Multi Entry non-im O?

How many entries do I get with 12 month multi entry non-imm O visa?

Would I be able to come in and out of Thailand as I please, and move around with no 90 day reporting?

With Multi entry visa, does the 90 days reset on each entry?

If I get multi entry visa and stay in Krabi, can I do out/in to Malaysia?

Last thing, If i do multi entry, can I drive my car across borders into Lao, Cambodia and Malaysia, for visa runs?

    Thanks in advance,

    Si

  8. Visa exemtion means you don't have a visa. So how can you extend it?

Im no expert but im pretty sure you need to leave and come back.

My understanding is that is you go out by land, when you come back you get another 30 visa exempt. Most nationalities get 15 days only if they come back by land at a border, but nationals from G8 countries get 30 days. UK is a G8 country

  9. Ok cheers ubonjoe. I need to go to Bangkok in a couple of weeks, so I'll try the Embassy then. Maybe email before to check.

Seems a bit silly if you need to be on extension to get residency certificate... when I open my bank account, I lost count of the banks I tried that all required a residency certificate to open an account.

So you need money in a thai account to get extension... need extension to get residency certificate... need residency certificate to open bank account... there's an obvious problem with this system, now that they are enforcing it...

Where is this Driving licence office in Ubon? I can't find it on Google maps
